18.01.2022 Big Picture students Years 7-10 will be organising a morning tea for parents, to be held in week 6, Thursday August 21. This will be an opportunity for students to speak about their work, exhibit projects and look at each others work. Viv White (Big Picture Australia) and two other guests will also be visiting the following week, to see how our students have been going with their work. It really is an exciting time to showcase how Big Picture has developed in the year since i...ts introduction to BCS. Staff and students have worked very hard to develop work that is relevant to them personally as well as build on important skills needed for life beyond school. This is a much more formal affair that will put a few students (and staff) out of their comfort zones! Invitations will go home to parents within the next few weeks. Watch this space. Still in the Big Picture vein, some older students will be going into the community for internships this term. They complement the skills they learn by developing a project that delves even deeper into what they want to gain from their internship. See more

06.01.2022 Nathan Johnson and Tai Gordon Meet the GG As part of the farewell to the Governor General, Quentin Bryce, Nathan and Tai presented an award of appreciation from the Clontarf foundation. This was done in front of the Prime Minister Tony Abbott, the leader of the opposition Bill Shorten, one thousand guests and on national TV - ABC 24. Nathan and Tai were chosen from all the Clontarf Academies across Australia to present the Governor General with a Certificate of Appreciation f...or her gift to the Foundation. This was in itself a great honour. However, to then present it in this manner was quite extra-ordinary. This honour reflects the qualities of our boys and the exceptional work done by Clontarf in our schools. The boys were accompanied by Uncle Charley McHughes who mentors the boys within the Brewarrina Academy. Their success is evidence of the capacities he brings to the program. Along with Directors Adam Close (2014) and Jason Bell (2013), the Clontarf program reconnects boys with their learning and future pathways to the workforce, through football. They work with teachers and the school to give learning meaning and purpose and to help the boys become better men. This is a very proud moment for Brewarrina Central School. We are proud of our boys, our Academy and our school community.
