25.01.2022 Thought I’d share the start of my Brew Crates story with you... I started my business 2 years ago, the idea coming together on a drive to the south west with my husband. We had noticed the excitement around the fast growing Craft Beer industry here in WA. Beer enthusiasts were driving all over Perth (as was my husband & our sons) to get a taste of newly released Beers which made me think what a great gift Craft Beer with tasty beer snacks like Beef Jerky, Chocolate Pretzel...s, nuts & nibbles would make. Knowing how tricky it can be to find that perfect gift for those often hard to buy for guys, I felt sure the guys I know, would be pretty happy receiving a gift of the latest Craft Beers, and yes I was right ! And of course also perfect for girls who love their beer, just the idea came about as I felt there was a real gap in the market for guys gifts So many different styles of beer, so many creative new flavours, so many awards being won by our amazing brewers, Craft Beer really has gone to a whole new level and WA is right up there amongst the best in the world For a point of difference I chose to present my gifts in a timber crate, that can be kept & recycled to use for many other purposes around the home (and perfect in the tool or man shed !) That 3 hour drive went so quick as we brainstormed the idea, then the name. First stop of course was a Brewery, Beerfarm Sitting enjoying a Beer & a Cider in the sunshine, this gorgeous couple sat at the end of our table & we started chatting. As coincidence had it, they had just opened a brewery up in Perth. A dream that had become reality, from being a home brewer to now one of Perth’s amazing venues. This is exactly what had inspired me with the whole Craft Beer business. People following their passions & this is what I wanted to do with mine. As we chatted more I mentioned my idea of the Craft Beer gifts & he thought it was a great idea. Thanks for the nod of confidence Steve, I really appreciated it Hence... 22.01.2022 Our visit WA weekend off to a good start today traveling 600km out to a Wave Rock via Brookton, Corrigin, Kondinin to Hyden, to Lake Grace ending up at the Premier Flour Mill which has been restored into a comfortable unique hotel in Katanning. It’s been a great day seeing people out & about with lots of friendly waves along the way We’ve been very happy to support the country bakeries, anyone who knows me knows I can’t go by a country bakery ... We’ve seen blue skies most of the day, a very short sprinkle of rain, continual paddocks of freshly seeded farming land, sheep & baby lambs... so nice to getaway & enjoy our great outdoors. 11.01.2022 Great day out Salt Water Croc hunting... only hoping to see in the distance, but no luck. Nevertheless great scenery along the way. Unfortunately some popular tourist spots still closed due to Covid, never mind, we’ll just have to come back one day !! So much to see up here in the East Kimberley, it’s been amazing ! ... 11.01.2022 Day 2 of out visit WA weekend saw us head south via Broomehill... first coffee stop at this gorgeous old building, Henry Jones cafe & Winery filled with rooms of old homewares, furnishings & collectibles. Then passing through Tambellup & Cranbrook, we stopped to check out the little towns & take photos of their classic hotels before onward to Mt Barker, where, of course, we had to have lunch at the bakery. In my opinion, & I’ve tried many, this is certainly one of the b...est !!! I’ve been there many times over the years & it never disappoints We then did the drive looping right around the Stirling ranges in the Porongurup’s. Love this part of the world ! 05.01.2022 Hope everyone had a great WA Day long weekend, we sure did ! Three days driving about 1500km through our Wheatbelt & Great Southern regions admiring the amazing farming land & all the towns along the way. The Premier Mill hotel where we stayed is an amazing restoration of the Flour Mill in Katanning, with so much history within those walls. Would certainly recommend a stay at this boutique hotel, the rooms, the Cordial bar, the service & staff were great ! ... It was still very quiet out there with very few places open, but here’s hoping from next weekend when more restrictions are lifted, more businesses can open their doors & welcome back us West Aussies who are so keen to get back socializing in the bars & restaurants, visit towns, buy from your shops, cafes & bakeries & all support each other Cheers to WA & all the great people who make it the wonderful state it is !! @ Premier Mill Hotel - Katanning See more
