24.01.2022 We needed a larger freezer to accomodate our bulk hops at the back of the shoppe. So we bought one, from Lou’s Catering in Townsville Street Fyshwick. We now have for sale the old freezer. I bought it about 11 years ago. It’s a Kelvinator Opal H700F, made in Australia, chest freezer. Dimensions are: Outside, 1.7m long x .7m wide x .9m high. Inside it is 1.58m long x .58m wide x .76m high, capacity is 700 litres. It was working perfectly when we decommissioned it, keeping the contents at -22 C. The door/lid seal is in good condition. $350.00 or near offer.

24.01.2022 We have been given about 120 dozen screw top wine bottles by the good folk at Underground Spirits. Some have lids some don't. Some are brown and some are clear. They are all free. If you want some contact me on 0413 936 176. They are locked up in the compound at the rear of the shop.

24.01.2022 The Weizen Has Landed! Fresh off the canning line, our much-requested Weizen is now available at Plonk and it is the perfect refreshment for this hot weather We'll be rolling it out to other bottle shops across Canberra from next week.

24.01.2022 Back to work tomorrow. We reopen at 8.30. I hope you all had a good Christmas holiday and are relaxed and ready to brew. We’re low on All Inn fresh wort kits but have plenty of Zierholz, Tumut River and Jindabyne RedX. Most varieties of yeast, hops, grain and kit beers are in stock.

22.01.2022 Fresh Wort Kit news. Thanks to Tim and Tim's Team, we received 50 TRBC Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and 50 Voodoo Child (Jimi spelled it "Voodoo Chile") fresh wort kits last night. The Voodoo Child has a starting gravity of around 1.050 when diluted, resulting in an ABV of 4.9%. A bit stronger than the product sold in cans and on tap from Tumut River Brewing Company. I'll be brewing one for Christmas. All Inn wort kits should be here today. I'll post when that happens. Jindabyne Brewing's RedX ale should be here next week.

21.01.2022 Today we had deliveries of JWM traditional ale and Pilsener malt and dextrose. Limit one bag per customer until we get low again, which won’t take long. Please send a message, email or phone call if you want any reserved for you. We have ordered various All Inn fresh wort kits. ETA late next week. On Saturday we are expecting about 90 Jindabyne English Northern brown ale wort kits and have ordered 80 or so Tumut River Brewing MoFo American IPA wort kits, ETA two weeks hence. Starter kits are on the way, ETA Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Stills and turbo yeast and turbo clear are due tomorrow or Friday. Kegerators are scarce and won’t be in for a couple of weeks. Ditto CO2 cylinders. As previously mentioned in dispatches we have good stocks of fine Voyager base malts. And that’s all the news that’s fit to print. Colin.

19.01.2022 Update on fresh wort kits. We are expecting Jindabyne Schwartzbier fresh wort kits tomorrow. I tasted it on tap at the brewery recently and it is fabulous. All Inn brewing wort kits should be here next week - the supplier has been stocktaking all this week. We still have some Tumut River Brewing Bad MoFo and Zierholz Hopmeister. The warehouse is chock a block with Gladfield, Simpsons, Voyager Best Malz and JWM malts. If you need 5kgs or more cracked, please contact Ian or me as early as you can before your visit. 18.01.2022 Good news. US-05, S-04 and WB-06 yeast are back in stock. All Inn wort kits are on the way. No ETA at this stage. We will advise when we receive a tracking number. We have good stocks of Zierholz Hopmeister and Jindabyne Northern English brown Ale.As soon as the empty cubes arrive at Tumut River Brewing, the lads there will be making the wort, Bad Mofo and filling and delivering them. Will advise when that happens. Today we had deliveries of Erlenmeyer flasks, temperature con...trollers, glass beakers, heat belts and digital thermometers.Stll no distilling yeast (pun accidental), or turbo clear.We have on tap for sampling, Jindabyne IPA and Zierholz German ale. We've bought a keg of the TRBC Bad Mofo and will have that on tap as well, when it arrives.(at beer o'clock, of course). Free to good home. Two shelving units. 18.01.2022 Fresh wort update #3. I've ordered 50 more Tumut River Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and 50 Tumut River Voodoo Child. It is described thus: 3.5% ABV 42 IBU... Our new American Amber was made with a single malt, Voodoo, from our mates at Voyager Craft Malt. If someone makes a fantastic malt in your region with an awesome name why not just run with it? It's a big American Amber; nice and bitter but not too much, nice and hoppy with a classic Amarillo single hop punch. Beautiful colour and flavour with nothing but the freshest and best ingredients." Both are being brewed on Monday (thanks Tim and Team) and should be at Le Shoppe by Thursday.

12.01.2022 Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Yesterday was another extremely busy day and we apologise for the service waiting times you experience. Thank you for your continued patronage. As far as lockdowns/shutouts/ shutupshops/ sorry you can't come ins, we are still in the dark until an announcement is released by our community leaders. We still have ample stocks of many things, like beer and gas line, calcium chloride, hop socks and other essentials.The only fresh wort kits left a...re 25 of the magnificent Zierholz Hopmeister, two TRBC Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy and a couple of All Inn Porters. Cans of concentrate are plentiful but yeast is not.We have some dextrose, 2 kgs per person. And don't send all your kids in to buy 2kgs each. We're awake to that practice. We have acquired some hand sanitizer concocted from the World Health Organization (WHO?) approved recipe. It is called Hanzitizer (catchy eh?) and is available in 250ml bottles for $12.50 including GST. Limit of two per customer. Coles is selling a similar product (if you can get it) for $3.5I0 for 50 mls. I can tell you categorically that Hanzitizer definitely works. Early this morning I heard a funny noise in the front garden. I picked up the only weapon close to hand, which was a spray bottle of Hanzitizer and went outside. I found a feral feline parking a pookie on the petunias. I squirted a considerable quantity at the animal and fortuitously hit it smack in the sphincter. Well, it took off like a scalded whatever and raced off at a rate of knots, making a noise like Yoko Ono singing the Hallelujah Chorus at 78 speed. On speed. I gauged that it did the standing start quarter mile in 7.16 seconds and reached 138 km/h. I heard from a colleague in Queanbeyan that it was seen racing down Monaro street on its way to Bungendore 8 minutes later. Of course I'm making that up. The product is named after that famous and illustrious Austrian Pianist (plays the piano) Hanzi Tizer. He credits the regular use of the product for his extraordinary manual dexterity on the pianoforte and has the reputation of having the cleanest piano in Europe. I made that up too. Enough bullshit. 11.01.2022 To the 96 customers who graced us with their presence today and the 89 who came yesterday (Wednesday is a blur) thank you for your patronage, your time, your patience and (let‘s not be coy about it) your money. I think you all will agree you got good value for it. There is nothing we can do about the shortage of some items and the limitations that we have had to impose on some items. Even though Ian claims to be psychic, we couldn’t predict the demand for our stuff that has... so depleted our supplies. The problem is that we don’t know ( because nobody in authority has told us) whether or not we will have to shut down, when that will occur, or the duration of that lockdown. So we can’t order vast quantities of stock if we can’t sell it. I hope that there is a commonsense, logical solution to the problem. All of the All Inn fresh wort kits are gone bar a couple of Porters and maybe a Citra. Those brewers who pre ordered before they arrived today will have their orders fulfilled. We still have some TRBC Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Zierholz Hopmeister FWKs available. Plus all the usual cans of concentrate. We have very little in the way of bulk grain left but have some individual kilogram packs. Ring to check before you travel. Specialty malts are plentiful, relatively speaking. Hops are ok, yeast are ok. We are desperately lacking in energy, stamina and strength. But we have great quantities of enthusiasm, vim, wisdom and empathy. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. I apologise to all those folk to whom I gave my mobile phone number to ring with queries, rather than contact us through the land line (is there any such thing in these fast moving days?) because we were taking dozens of calls per hour and many rang during that time and got a message. You see, I went to Woolworths late yesterday evening to purchase a Kit Kat for my beloved and loving wife as a reward, and dropped my mobile phone in aisle 7. I think. All I know is that it wasn’t the aisle where the condoms are. The woolies staff didn’t find it until 11.30. I had 27 messages and 12 missed calls. Or vice versa. 02.01.2022 Unfortunately we cannot fill CO2 cylinders until further notice. Murphy's Law has struck. Our primary co2 pump failed, so we hooked up the backup pump. It failed on Saturday. I have sent them back for repair. The earliest we can expect a working pump is next Wednesday. I'm looking at a method of getting around 1.5 to 2 kgs of CO2 into cylinders if you are desperate. The hop stocks are pretty good. We have no stills, distilling yeast or Turbo clear. We have small quantities coming this week. We have no US-05 or S-04 but we have substitutes.
