25.01.2022 The copper pipe on the left is from a house near the beach and has been exposed to sea spray. The unprotected copper pipework in the property has now failed and requires replacement. The pipe on the right is of a similar age but wasn’t exposed to the corrosive salts.

25.01.2022 If you haven’t eaten yet or are of a delicate disposition look away now........Investigating a suspected smelly drain, the incredible wiff turned out to be from this big pile of python poo, happy to say that no missing pets had been reported and the snake was out and about

25.01.2022 I get the feeling that this kookaburra has no respect for the rotating head scare owl with realistic eyes

24.01.2022 Seemed to smile for the camera whilst having its photo taken for the insurance company. This split flexible connection in a vanity unit managed to flood the en-suite and bedroom before the owners could turn the water off. New ones are made of a more robust material with a leak free 15 year warranty

24.01.2022 I’d like to see David Beckham have a go at bending like this

24.01.2022 Found this wonderful work of art whilst sorting through some old papers. Still lovin the plumbin but now wear more suitable clothing and have definitely filled out a bit!

23.01.2022 Quite often people say that they’d like to be a plumber, but l think that they really wouldn’t like to be in my shoes sometimes

23.01.2022 Looks like a real nasty piece of work. It’s not all his fault, a victim of his surroundings, trodden on and covered in rubble, little wonder he split and caused a lot of trouble when he was older.

21.01.2022 It’s quite normal to shed up to 100 strands of hair a day, as there are around 100,000 follicles on the average persons head it’s not a problem, so says the experts. I bet they’ve never seen a monstrous hairball retrieved from a shower drain though

21.01.2022 It always feels good to find the exact location of an underground leak but thanks to the slomo button l’ve just discovered, this one is a thing of beauty

20.01.2022 A plaster finish applied to both the walls and floor on this renovation, nice alternative to the usual ceramic tiles.

20.01.2022 A good 2m length of tree roots blocking a house drain, video taken after the high pressure water jetting machine had done a first pass to chew a hole through the roots and relieve the surcharge. Next stage is a cleaning nozzle on the sewerjet which removes the remaining roots. This job was carried out from inside the property with very little disruption or mess, wouldn’t be case using the old style electric eel.

19.01.2022 A photo of a recent shower room renovation. Last time this colour was a popular choice of sanitary ware was in the 70s, probably fitted by plumbers wearing flared trousers and tank tops (obviously before my time)....

19.01.2022 At the end of a hard day you can’t beat reviewing the highlights in slow motion Finding and fixing leaking water pipes underground quickly and with minimal disturbance is such a satisfying job. This video is a good example of how to get the water/gas mix just right to pinpoint where the pipe is leaking (water doesn’t always make any noise or show when it leaks especially when covered in sandy fill).

19.01.2022 Sufferin Succotash. Pesky mouse nibbled though the dishwasher hose and flooded the kitchen.

18.01.2022 Here’s a good reason for having a cold shower! Old hot water heaters are a breeding ground for bacteria. This one had so much thick slime inside l couldn’t easily drain the water out. The new hot water heater l fitted has a thermostat set high enough to kill bacteria and a mixing valve delivers water to the taps at a safe temperature. Many different types of energy efficient water heaters are available and l’m happy to advise which one would best suit your situation.

18.01.2022 Hose pipe a bit more tangled than usual

17.01.2022 Always nice to get a thank you note especially in these electronic days

16.01.2022 Cluedo time...Customers always want to know how it could have happened, well Professor Plumb says...it was the excavator driver who flattened this stormwater pipe when backfilling the trench when the house was being built.

16.01.2022 https://www.facebook.com/7NEWSBrisbane/videos/987657217913797/?t=16 Legionella bacteria thrive in warm water. To make sure those nasty bugs can't live in your plumbing system, water should be piping hot in the storage tank but tempered to a safe temperature to be used at the taps. Call Brian 0429 888 082 to check your system

16.01.2022 I looked in the ikea instruction booklet and found this illustration of how to make a plumbing connection. I now have many more questions than before.

16.01.2022 Finding concealed pipes in walls can be difficult, next time l need to find one l will simply call this concreter who seems to have an uncanny ability to find my pipes with his drill.

16.01.2022 Give me a call to replace your flexible connectors before they spring a leak! Video credit, Abbeys polymide hi class hooker (product better than its name)

14.01.2022 Those giants have been at it again, crushing pipes, causing blockages and leaks. Give me a call with your plumbing problems big or small....

14.01.2022 It’s a good job l use a rubber pick axe and shovel when digging on underground leaks. Service distancing wasn’t observed when the telco, electrician and plumber all decided to lay all their conduits and pipes together in the same trench. This very poor way of laying underground services makes a future straight forward repair potentially lethal. No self respecting plumber would do such a thing so l guess the other guys must have snuck their conduits in under his water pipe after he had left site?

14.01.2022 Couldn’t resist a photo of the back yard from todays water heater replacement

13.01.2022 Before and after photos of a very reasonably priced wash basin replacement

11.01.2022 Time to catch up on the important stuff

10.01.2022 The Japanese already have zero waste and it looks like they have come up with an alternative to fossil fuels.

10.01.2022 It’s not the lovely sounds of birdsong, just the noise of the air/water mixture l’ve put into the pipework to allow me to find the leak with my acoustic leak detector

10.01.2022 A reminder of the good old days when jointing copper pipes was done with an oxyacetylene torch (and a fire truck on standby).

09.01.2022 Whodunnit time Looking down a drain and finding that around 800mm of the top of the pipe is missing, have my doubts it’s flushed downstream. Stay tuned and all will be revealed (as I’ll be digging it out next week)

05.01.2022 Whoever said Don’t tread on an ant he’s done nothing to you had never had them build nest in a electric control box and set it on fire.

04.01.2022 Friendly python keeping me company this morning

03.01.2022 I might be getting over sentimental but I reckon it would be a shame to repair this gutter

02.01.2022 Found this little snake clinging to the brickwork and too busy eating geckos behind the mirror to notice me videoing.
