18.01.2022 It's out with the old and in with the new! the old Dennis ladder truck has been taken out to make way for our (new/ second hand) medium tanker, greatly enhancing our bushfire capability and coincides with the merging of Heybridge brigade into Penguin.

17.01.2022 8NHP Fowler BN17211 of 1928 departs the Don River Railway this afternoon bound for SteamFest and its new home at the Sheffield Steam and Heritage Centre. This ...is a great outcome for SteamFest and the Don Railway who can focus on their core business of preserving our rail history. The engine was built for a dam building contractor who had a contract on Victorias Carisbrooke dam. When the contractor went broke the engine was purchased by Tasmanias Public Works Department for stone crushing in the south in 1936. The engine was restored by Eric Howe who will open SteamFest on Saturday with his wife, Coral and fellow enthusiast Peter Martin.
