19.01.2022 Was a great opportunity working with @stjosephsgeelong year 9 High Performance Academy students this term. We covered several key topics to help these boys create their own training programs: the two broad topics included movement quality and strength training. 18.01.2022 Enjoyed sharing my insights on all the ways to minimise injury risk to young year 11 boys at St Josephs college today. Out of the class of 14 all had experienced injuries during sport, some of them serious such as stress fractures. Injuries are a part of sport and some cannot be prevented, however understanding the modifiable risk factors and the demands of your sport will allow you to come up with an effective injury prevention plan. Modifiable risk factors may include thi...ngs like fitness, strength, movement quality, stress/ wellness, sleep quality and quantity, hydration, nutrition and adequate recovery. This year has been a big year for me, building Brianna Morgan Performance and helping many athletes develop physically to reach their goals in their sport. 03.01.2022 Ive spoken to a few people this week who are not coping very well and I want to say that you are not alone. These pics are not to show you a perfect morning in a perfect life. (Although at first glance they may look that way!) if you are interested in delving in deep and hearing the story behind these pics read on..... . I slept poorly last night, my body was achy and agitated and I woke feeling tired and gloomy. I knew that the best thing to do would be to get out and move... my body, as I know it always makes me feel good. I also knew I needed rest. So I had this inner fight with my inner voice about resting vs exercising (a common battle for me). After a slow, uninspired meander around the house doing odd jobs like making the bed and cleaning (tricks I use to dispel the decision making anxiety) I decided to venture outside. The exercising voice won. But the bargain I made was coffee first, and a gentle walk. My tired resting voice was OK with this. . On my walk I was thinking about my day ahead. What to do when there is so much time in lockdown. I thought about cleaning the garage, visualised doing a yoga-lates session (yes I used this term in my head). And then I just kept walking. Unsure how far I was to go or where I should end up I followed my feet and tried to switch off my mind and just walk. I was pulled towards a track, off the main path which I never usually go down. But instead of overthinking I just walked and stayed present and fell upon this private spot that overlooked the ocean, was surrounded by bush and bird song and not a soul in sight. I removed my stuffy mask for some fresh air. And then it dawned on me. The yoga-lates session I visualised a moment earlier was presenting itself to me RIGHT HERE!! And so.... I stopped and began to move... It was epic, healing, random, fulfilling and uplifting. I share this because my day started off ordinary. And only a few hours later became extraordinary. Getting outside and walking down a new path maybe all you need to turn your day around. .
