25.01.2022 So l finally get tomorrow off to work in the garden.Just noticed that there is lots in flower at the moment.l would welcome anyone interested to visit this weekend. They are all weed free, meaning you can have the weeds for nothing. Some very interesting plant’s available, some broms available,so maybe see you tomorrow.
25.01.2022 So the silly season is over and things are getting back to normal.Had a break and came back worst for wear.I have increased my stock of bromeliads and succulents, the new fernhouses are almost complete with lots of repotting to be done.l will post a small selection of what I found flowering for you to make an offer if you are interested. I have a new batch of babies to repot so the next batch of seeds can have their chance. These are all imported seeds and the only guarantee is that most will be pink, however the real bonus comes when something stunning flowers.l do this because I like to see things grow.l will be home this weekend, early morning and late afternoon are the best time for me,give me a call on 0417783996 if you want.
23.01.2022 Thanks for coming everyone and making my day better. I think people went away happy from the comments they made. Many said they would be back Made some new friends and caught up with some old friends, sold some plants, baffled some with bullshit, overall a great day and looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully more of the same. Please remember that you are able to contact me on 0417783996 at other times,it doesn’t have to be a sale day. Let me know that you have been here before for special treatment (may not be a good thing for some)and prices.
23.01.2022 Well I decided to have some ME time in the garden this weekend. It was very rewarding to have a break from normal work although I think I worked harder and covered a lot of kilometres with what I did.l replanted over 800 plants with plenty more to do,rearranged lots, restocked the shelves and made the place look a bit more presentable. My seed raising trial in the hydroponic system works well although the possums and rats are a problem.l can’t believe how resilient plants are b...eing eaten down to nothing and regrowing as if nothing happened.Planted the seeds in biodegradable bags in the hydroponic system then transplanted in the bag to the garden (beetroot). The bromilliad garden has had a makeover, the cactus garden is still a work in progress, ginger garden been cleaned up (thanks Glenn),fern house now houses 1500 baby desert roses, brom racks are full and Glenn’s vegi garden looks better than mine (like beating your friend on his pool table)don’t know how l feel about that.Hopefully when all this insanity is over l will have another sale....just too much uncertainty at the moment. We are fine here.....but for how long. See more
22.01.2022 So after last weekend sale l don’t have a lot left in flower, many colours with buds. It distresses me to see people advertising on market place seeds for sale and a photo of the plants that it was from. From experience you will be lucky to get any plants that are the same as displayed.Cross pollination plays a big part in what you get.If you get a thrill (l do)from seeing plants grow and even a bigger thrill when you do get something nice then good for you.l import lots of seeds (hand pollinated)to improve my chances......l have lots of pinks to sell and give away. I only sell plants that are in flower so you know what you have got.Thank you everybody that turned up last weekend,l met a lot of wonderful people so will do it again soon and I will try to keep a better track of what I have and what I have sold
21.01.2022 So the sale is on again this weekend 8am till noon and 4pm till 6pm.Too hot in the middle of the day.l am trying to post a video of some of what is on offer. There is still lots to choose from so come and help me out so l can bring the next lot through. I have started potting up to the next size so need the space. The next lot of seeds should be more exotic than the last so hopefully more colours.Probably more pink,we know how genetics works.look for pics soon.
20.01.2022 It’s been a while and lots of things have happened and I have not been paying much attention, however things are getting back to normal.I am still open for visits and chatting. I have been busy at work and projects and didn’t realise how many people read and follow. I have been playing with hydroponic growing, trying to improve my stock of bromeliads and succulents which means that the Desert Rose collection has been neglected somewhat. I am trying to have a garage sale for plants next week Saturday and Sunday morning and I will confirm during the week. I have been cleaning up the mess left by inconsiderate tenants that lived like pigs. This is very time consuming so my hobbies have been neglected. So maybe next weekend we can have some me time with you.
20.01.2022 Just noticed that I don’t have an address. So here it is...146 Miles Avenue Kelso, see you tomorrow
17.01.2022 So these are a few more flowers that I thought were worth a look and are for sale this morning lf anyone is interested, who knows what I will find when I get to the garden this morning.l have been watching some interesting pods and waiting for them to open.Best to phone me on 0417783996 as l am old and l do not embrace new technology well.l don’t follow messenger on my phone (bad eyes without glasses).
17.01.2022 So this weekend I will be trying to clear some space for the next lot to be repotted.Below is a sample of what is going to be on offer, starting at $5. I will not be holding any plants, they are pick only at 146 Miles Avenue Kelso. Please do not call and ask if a particular plant is available,l have over 3000 in stock from advanced to seedlings.l normally only sell mature plants in flower so you can see what they are. This is not the market, what you see l have grown, pretty much something for everyone.Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
17.01.2022 So I keep getting prompts to write something so it’s been almost 2 months since my last confession.lots of rain which means lots of weeds and the plants are looking good and are just starting to flower again. As you may be aware l don’t sell without a flower,l want my customers to know what they are buying.l now have an assistant in the form of a new Tennant who is a keen gardener, and I am really grateful for everything that he does.l have been putting in more gardens with the... mulch from the council and more, when this matures it will add a new perspective as to what is on offer. This has also cut down on mowing. The new shade house is completely finished and full, the new Bromelioideae garden is done and planted,so all is looking good.Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the hydroponics ,this has been a total failure.Playing with tomatoes.....lots of tomatoes at the moment so interested to see what happens.Very busy at my real job at the moment and have a upcoming cruise planned which is causing a lot of angsts with so much uncertainty in world events at the moment. To go or not to go. I think we will go unless we are told that we can’t,otherwise you sit on the fence wondering what if.Remember you live your life and you only die once, not you only only live once..... See more
17.01.2022 So had a great open day,was forced to stay home so did some much needed weeding and reorganising to accommodate my new arrivals. Was a bit disappointing when those who asked to have plants put aside for them then not turn up to collect.I will endeavour to get them posted so someone else can have them.At least with the weather being cool it’s easier to get things done.If there is something you want please feel free to call on 0417783996 I have quite a few doubles in bloom at the moment.
17.01.2022 So more flowers are now in bloom and are listed in this post, more are coming, they have a tendency to hide behind other plants...can only assume that they like it here however I think they will be happy at your place.
16.01.2022 So spent the day in the garden today, unfortunately I was not bothered by customers so got to repot my new arrivals. I am now playing with hibiscus, azalea, gardenia and ixora (don’t tell me that they won’t grow here because I won’t listen.....have to find out for myself). My new nersary trays also arrived so I am weeding and sorting putting them into trays to make it easier and conserving space which for anyone who has visited will know this is a premium for me.Please remember that I am here most of the time, you do not need to wait for an open day to visit. I like to talk to people, give advice and listen to their advice. My advice may not be what you believe however it is what works for me.Tomorrow will be more of the same for me so if you would like to have a look you might just find something that you have been looking for.
15.01.2022 It would appear that people are interested in Desert Rose Sales still even though I have not posted anything for a while.I still have plenty to look at and sell along with other plants, if anyone is interested in setting up a garden of drought tolerant plants this is the place to look. I am currently dabbling in succulents and am prepared to swap, also bromilliads. I am experimenting with hydroponic growing at the moment, I have built my own system and almost ready to roll.Afternoons and weekends are best ,wise to call first to make sure.0417783996
12.01.2022 Thanks for the enquires and support you have been giving me,however I feel at this time l should not be having people over due to the current situation.Much as I would like to be able to help you expand your collection it would not be appropriate.lam happy to answer questions or just talk in general.l will repost when it’s safe to do so.Again thanks to you all.
12.01.2022 Monster Sale is on this weekend.Still plenty of variety and colours. All mature plants, all grown by myself,no grafts. All pick up only,Happy to share my limited knowledge successes and failures, what works for me may not work for you but happy to share.Plants starting at $5 to whatever might even give you a pink one free.146 Miles Avenue Kelso.0417783996.Saturday and Sunday, not to early please.
12.01.2022 Today is the start of the new ginger garden.Another project started with still so many others yet to be completed (anyone else have this problem.....If not HELP Me).My friend borrowed back his cement mixer (that I use to mix my medium)so I may be in the market for another one. Had a dreamer contact me this week to offer a ridiculous price for a plant that I had lovingly grow for many years (probably to resell at the market).Anyway I still have the plant and hopefully she is disappointed. I now sell coco peat, nursery trays, some pots and advice is free (If you want it). What works for me.
12.01.2022 So unfortunately I have to cancel my garage sale for this weekend, work and personal commitments must take place first. However next weekend everything will be half price on what I normally sell it for.(no Kath that doesn’t mean that I will pay you to take them away....before you ask)So maybe we will see you next weekend.
10.01.2022 So I have decided to try a different strategy with the sales and prices to cater for more customers.l have decided to offer for sale seedings however you have to put yourself in my shoes,by this l mean you have to take the risk of what you get.None of the seedlings have come from any of my plants as the risk is to high that they will be pink. The seeds have all been imported from abroad, they have all been hand pollinated to produce the very latest varieties that you seek (bear... in mind l did not see this happen, however this is the pretext that I have purchased them under)They are all supposed to be exotic and plants that l desire for stock and my personal collection.Am happy to have feedback on this project.Have spent over $2000 on the latest batch of seeds. Please remember that their are no guarantees on what you buy as a seedling (and this is not Bunnings so you take the risk).Plants will be healthy and you pick the ones you want....not me.Any desert rose seedlings should be treated as pink until they flower.l don’t plant any seeds that l am reasonable assured will be pink. This is the risky that l take every time I plant a seed to supply you with the plants that you want.....l have a lot of pink plants. However it can be very rewarding See more
07.01.2022 So weekend sale is over and still the calls keep coming and this is fine by me.The racks are still full so plenty still available.Over 1000 plants in stock so has hardly a dent in what was there.Lots still in flower.l will be taking the weekend off to attend to other matters but after the weekend I will be available again after 4.30 most weekdays, best to ring 0417783996 to arrange a time to inspect and thanks for the support.Brian
04.01.2022 Don’t forget this weekend is half the normal price sale, lots of different plants but remember if it is that exotic that nobody else has got it,then l haven’t got it either. Please don’t bog me down with have you got this and how much,l would like you to look you might find something that you like...see you on the weekend
04.01.2022 So after the garage sale a few weeks ago I have decided to give it another try.It was an overwhelming success so the prices will remain the same.A lot more plants have come in to flower so still plenty of variety. After rearranging it hardly appears to be any missing. Late afternoon is still best for me because of the heat but come if you want anytime (within reason )of course. One sale was made under tourch light.l will try to post a few photos of recent openings. How black does a flower have to be to be called black
