23.01.2022 Today is R U OK?Day a day that aims to inspire everyday conversations about mental health. A day when we are reminded to check-in with our friends, family, colleagues, and even ourselves. This year is one that has presented everybody with extraordinary circumstances. Restrictions and lockdowns across the country, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, has thrown up challenges that many Australians are struggling to cope with. Isolation, empty workplaces, home confinement and h...ealth fears for our families and self has caused mental health issues to soar to new levels. Staying connected to one another has never been more important. In many instances, we may not be able to meet in person but we still have phones to stay in touch. So, if you know someone who might be struggling - a friend, family or workmate - please, reach out and ask: R U OK? See more

23.01.2022 Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and in commemoration of this solemn day, Ron Wollington, a resident at CapellaBay in Queensland, has put pen to paper and written a poem. Ron’s poem, titled ‘Remembrance Day’ is a wonderful tribute to all those who fought and died in wars. The black and white photo was taken in 1945 when Private Ron Wollington was 19 years old. Ron was enlisted in the Royal Ulster Riffle Brigade and he often talks about the comradery and old fashioned mateship that... has lasted a lifetime. Thank you Ron, for sharing your poetry with all of us. We are sure it will touch the hearts of many people.

20.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET - REMEMBRANCE DAY 11.11.2020 At 11am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. A...t the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all McKenzie Aged Care homes and offices will observe one minute’s silence, in memory of those who served and continue to serve protecting our country. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.

10.01.2022 Today marks the 30th Anniversary of the International Day of Older Persons. With the appearance of COVID-19 in 2020, the highlighted need for more awareness around the health and mental needs of our ageing generations has come further into the spotlight, this is especially represented in this decade’s theme for International Day of Older Persons - The Decade of Healthy Ageing. Ageing is a privilege and at McKenzie we are very proud to be part of our older generation’s journey, we place great value on being able to offer assistance to our resident’s health, care and social needs. Today, we pay tribute to older persons everywhere and thank them for everything they have contributed to our society. Make sure you let the older people in your life know how much you love them.
