22.01.2022 This was our first weekend with a fishing competition. Good to see so many different sponsored boats and people pop in to say hi. Even the guys on our houseboat have been catching decent sized fish up at Mission Point despite the weather. The garden has been receiving a significant haircut, courtesy of Tom Thumbs tree surgeons - great work, guys! New professional coffee grinders have been installed, giving us a full suite of new barista capability. New rods and tackle are... arriving from Okuma, Shakespeare and Shimano for the tackle shop and the full service of engines on our fleet is scheduled for the boat sheds this coming week. The first of the new kayaks has arrived with more expected this week and several new boats on the horizon. Luckily, the weather forecast is planned to be much better next weekend. Here is to better weather and more changes at the Bribie Beach Shack.

16.01.2022 Well, it's been a great week and weekend again. After the rained-out weekend last week, we've transferred a 'ship-load' of brand-new mattresses to the 'Aussea Belle' Houseboat and with its new bedding, towels and linen the bedrooms are looking good! New weather flashing has been installed along both sides of the top deck front to back, and the top deck has received its first healthy dose of weatherproofing of the 40 square meters of sun deck with more work to commence this ...week to secure the helm station upstairs. A new 3.5 KVA generator and power supplies has been installed upstairs with further work on automating the solar power management this week. Feedback from customers that have hired the Aussea Belle this weekend has been outstanding. The Beach Shack itself is rapidly coming up to speed nicely as well. We've sold more than 40kg of bait this weekend, which is kept in high quality condition in our new bait freezers and restocked weekly by SeaQueen. Tackle supplies and fishing rods have been in serious demand with over 20 rods and reels sold over the last week, and our squid jigs are apparently the cheapest around. In addition, we've sold three anchors from our large stock of pre-loved anchors as we continue to scale for our growing customer demand. The Beach Shack kitchen has pumped out more than 30kg of our yummy shoestring fries over the weekend and we're proud to welcome back the ladies from Dragons Abreast Bribie Island who enjoy our coffee and magnificent view every Sunday and Monday after their exercise. The kitchens are being further commercialised with the new fryers now fully on stream, the new barista triple head coffee station fully commissioned and brand-new coffee grinders last week. During this weekend our boathire was popular with 36 boat and kayak hires and the new engines are purring along nicely after their first service by Cunningham Marine last week. Customers reported dolphins, turtle and dugong sightings yet again and the biggest catch from our customers this weekend was a 70cm flathead - hope you enjoyed your dinner!

15.01.2022 This month we have seen some amazing weather conditions, ranging from calm mornings with stunning sunrises to fog so thick that one couldn’t see Bribie or the bridge; 60mm of rain in one day and winds gusting up to 70km/h this weekend. Fishing has been fantastic: sweet lip, bream, flounder, whiting and with several flatheads over 85 cms being caught and released. In a further update on the Aussea Belle, we have finished the next round of weather proofing on the upstairs dec...k, painting is continuing and new decals have been ordered. Our attention has turned also to an interior update of the BBQ Pontoon boat with a new captain’s seat and all new upholstery. In the Beach Shack, we are pleased to have welcomed the Bribie Island RSL Fishing Club for a social tea and coffee, as well as having continued patronage from the ladies of Dragons Abreast Bribie Island. Anyone visiting will see some new additions as well, a fully equipped Quintrex Hornet has joined as our emergency vessel and as of yesterday our Beach Shack Jeep Cherokee which will double our towing capacity and speed up our boat launch procedures. Our shop is fully stocked again with gear from Shimano, Okuma and Daiwa after nearly having sold out of all fishing rods and tackle. The garden is continuing to evolve with new and more robust garden furniture arriving to increase seating capacity. New exterior lighting is going up next week as we move closer to the next evolution of the Beach Shack. Watch this space...

10.01.2022 Our latest update from the Bribie Beach Shack. The BBQ Pontoon Boat has been through a major refurb: The interior carpets have been revitalised, a new toilet screen fitted, a brand new captain’s seat and pedestal chairs have been installed and the interior leather upholstery is completely replaced. We have installed new steering, new fuel filtration system and new start / house batteries. Additional sea trials have been done on the 90hp Suzuki engine in unrestricted mode up t...o 26kmph (which is a little too fast for a pontoon boat so Rich has put the restrictor back on). Due to its engine size and classification our BBQ boat has now an extended range from into Moreton Bay (wind permitting) to the South all the way up to Mission Point to the North. In short, she’s looking good, but watch this space for new livery. We are also investigating new hire ventures for the vessel which we’re very excited about. The Aussea Belle houseboat has been very popular and booked continuously in back to back bookings for the past few weeks. We’re pleased to see bookings starting to fill up for the rest of the year and into 2021. Our other boats are also getting some TLC with new canopies starting to arrive, additional trailers, new painting and regulars would have noticed our new Beach Shack tow vehicle - the Jeep - joining the family readying us for peak season. We are beginning to stock up on boat spare parts and now have 10 spare fully operational engines to support the new fleet .... for just in case. Those with a keen eye would have noticed new boats arriving as well, our Quintrex Hornet gives us another high speed backup safety vessel in full D and E class survey. In the Beach Shack itself, the new coffee grinders are working well with the award winning small batch Arabica coffee we’re using, enjoyed every Saturday morning by the Dragons Abreast Bribie Island Ladies. We are continuously evolving our menu and products with new icecream and drinks on offer. If you’re a regular you would have noticed more changes to the outside as well with new furniture and sun shade umbrellas, and more general garden clean up. Until our next update, The Bribie Beach Shack Team

09.01.2022 So much rain last night! 84mm! Unfortunately, the Beach Shack and Houseboat have leaked. New mattresses, bedding and linen are being fitted today on the houseboat, new window flashing to the whole boat too, but protecting against Queensland’s huge downpours is challenging. Video taken last night is showing how much water has come down outside the boat and into the window track and underneath the window into the bedroom. So, so much rain! Customer also managed to block the b...rand new Macerator toilet system yesterday, so had to send out a boat for several hours into the rain to unblock the system and then refunded one night’s accommodation on the houseboat due to the leaks. What a night! Our sincerest apologies to anyone for any inconvenience but we’re working as fast as possible to rectify any issues as soon as they come to our attention.

08.01.2022 Well, it’s been a few weeks since our last update, but a lot has happened again. The BBQ pontoon boat is continuing to evolve: check out our new decals featuring the Bribie Beach Shack logo. We’re also proud of our new partnership with Able Anglers and the great work they are doing. So good to see our boat being enjoyed. Work is continuing on the Aussea Belle houseboat with a whole new front floor and deck plates being fitted to add strength around the anchor area. In the in...terior, new custom made curtains have been fitted in the living room, and additional soft furnishings added. The main mechanical work on the Aussea Belle has been a full engine service including installation of a brand new high thrust gearbox and barge propellor flown in from the USA. From a security perspective, all three of our moorings across the passage have been fitted with brand new shackles, chains, swivels and mooring ropes custom made by Australian Trawler Supplies. For our smaller fleet, we’ve said good bye to some of our smaller and older 2 person tinnies, and a big welcome to four new poli Smartwave boats from New Zealand, accompanied with 15 hp engines and more new trailers. The kitchen continues to evolve with new grills and tweaks to the menu with our new special Hot Dog Works. Our shoestring fries continue to be a hit, and the Whiting and Chips is turning out to be a major favourite for many of our regulars. The shop itself has been updated with a brand new icecream freezer by Streets to host a wider selection of favourites. We’re proud to have been selected by a local short film maker and our front garden and shop have featured in some of the movie scenes that were filmed last weekend. One of the major props of the movie has been donated to us and the Forest Gypsy now features in our front garden. We will leave you for now to admire the attached selection of recent catches, some from our customers and others from locals and the local fishing club for weigh-in.
