24.01.2022 Here at Bribie Cove, winners are grinners, and judging by the size of these grins, these ladies and their co ‘big word game brainy bunch’ group have won big! This group of residents just keep getting better each week, blowing their previous record out of the water. This week they created 241 words out the word INTERCOMPREHENDABILITIES. No wonder they’re grinning like Cheshire Cats. Well done group!

24.01.2022 Each year at McKenzie we hold GoBeyond Awards to celebrate staff who have gone above and beyond in their work to make a difference in people’s lives. 2020 has been a unique and challenging year for us all, and in so many ways we have gone through this pandemic together as a community. We therefore would love families to get involved in the awards process this year. You can use the link below to acknowledge those individuals or teams who have made a difference to you and/or your loved one through 2020. The GoBeyond Awards is a way to show appreciation of others who have excelled during the difficulties we have all faced. It means a lot to us to have your support. 23.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET - REMEMBRANCE DAY 11.11.2020 At 11am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. A...t the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all McKenzie Aged Care homes and offices will observe one minute’s silence, in memory of those who served and continue to serve protecting our country. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget.

12.01.2022 Today is R U OK?Day a day that aims to inspire everyday conversations about mental health. A day when we are reminded to check-in with our friends, family, colleagues, and even ourselves. This year is one that has presented everybody with extraordinary circumstances. Restrictions and lockdowns across the country, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, has thrown up challenges that many Australians are struggling to cope with. Isolation, empty workplaces, home confinement and h...ealth fears for our families and self has caused mental health issues to soar to new levels. Staying connected to one another has never been more important. In many instances, we may not be able to meet in person but we still have phones to stay in touch. So, if you know someone who might be struggling - a friend, family or workmate - please, reach out and ask: R U OK? See more

11.01.2022 What a wonderful milestone birthday - Florence turned 100 years young. Florence was very excited to see her letters from the Queen, the Prime Minister, the Governor General and the Qld Premier. She was showered with gifts and well wishes and enjoyed a glass of wine with her morning tea that she shared with her fellow residents.

11.01.2022 We are extremely thrilled to be partnering with RACV Solar to bring energy efficient solutions to our Queensland and NSW facilities. The benefits of renewable energy are well documented, which is why we are installing approximately 6000 solar panels on the roofs of our facilities to help us enjoy the cost savings on power usage, while doing our bit to look after the environment.... 02.01.2022 Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and in commemoration of this solemn day, Ron Wollington, a resident at CapellaBay in Queensland, has put pen to paper and written a poem. Ron’s poem, titled ‘Remembrance Day’ is a wonderful tribute to all those who fought and died in wars. The black and white photo was taken in 1945 when Private Ron Wollington was 19 years old. Ron was enlisted in the Royal Ulster Riffle Brigade and he often talks about the comradery and old fashioned mateship that... has lasted a lifetime. Thank you Ron, for sharing your poetry with all of us. We are sure it will touch the hearts of many people.
