25.01.2022 A huge thank you to the Wallum Action Group. This organisation and its wonderful volunteers have supplied us with crucial equipment over the years, to better serve our community. To quote, the caliber of a community is gauged by its volunteers .

25.01.2022 Good morning Can all residents with air conditioning please check the drain hose. Since last Saturday, we have been called to 3 homes with water pouring out of the headers. This is due to the storm water backing up and forcing water back up the drain line. If you’re line is connected to the down pipe, remove it, especially during heavy downpours. Might also be a good time to clean gutters and storm proof your homes. Take care

24.01.2022 Such a tragic loss! Our thoughts go out to the family, friends and fellow RFS Volunteers. RIP Yellow Brother!

24.01.2022 District update. The Bribie SES has been inundated with calls for assistance since last Monday. Till now, we have completed over 180 tasks, this includes roof tarping, downed trees and sand bagging. We apologise to those of you that live on the water. The region has had some large tides and unfortunately we can’t build sea walls. Thank you for your support and understanding during these testing times.

23.01.2022 To our wonderful community a very happy Christmas and a wonderful new year.

22.01.2022 Good morning and Happy New Year The Group now has a recycling bin in front of the Base. For those of you that would like to donate your bottles/cans they can be left bagged or boxed next to the bin. Every bit helps so thanks in advance

20.01.2022 ***This warning is no longer current. Please check the QFES Facebook page for the latest update*** STAY INFORMED: Banksia Beach bushfire as at 3.10pm Fri 18 Jan... Bushfire warning level: ADVICE Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire in Banksia Beach. You need to keep up to date and decide what actions you will take if the situation changes. Currently as at 3.10pm Friday 18 January, a bushfire is travelling from Sunderland Drive in a westerly direction towards Avon Avenue, Alpinia Avenue, Anchor Court, Winch Avenue and Schooner Avenue. People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: Listen to your local radio station or visit the Rural Fire Service (RFS) website for regular updates. If you have a bushfire survival plan, refer to it now and be ready to follow it. If you do not have a bushfire survival plan, or if your plan is to leave, identify where you will go if the situation changes. Close windows and doors to minimise smoke exposure. If you suffer from a respiratory condition, keep your medication close by. Drive with caution in low visibility conditions. Contact your neighbours to see if they need help preparing for the bushfire. Consider finding your essential items (e.g., identification documents, prescription medication, food and water, and protective clothing such as a long-sleeved cotton shirt and trousers, and boots) in case you need to leave. Consider what you will do to protect your pets and livestock. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Advise family and friends of your intended actions if the situation changes. KEEP UP TO DATE BY: Following QFES on Facebook (@QldFireandRescueService) and Twitter (@QldFES) Staying tuned to your local radio station. Find your local ABC radio station at https://radio.abc.net.au/help/offline and your local commercial radio station at http://www.commercialradio.com.au/find-a-station/queensland; Visiting the Rural Fire Service (RFS) website at www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au/map FURTHER INFORMATION: For bushfire preparation tips, visit the RFS website: www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au/BushFire_Safety For information about road closures, call 13 19 40 or visit www.qldtraffic.qld.gov.au The next update will be provided when the situation changes.
