04.01.2022 HATCHILINGS from the FIRST REGISTERED NESTING LOGGERHEAD TURTLE ON BRIBIE ISLAND TODAY Columbine is the first nesting turtle tagged on Bribie Island Our first C...olumbine’s hatchlings emerged last night (1st March 2019) Columbine is the loggerhead turtle Bribie Island’s Turtle Trackers were able to tag after she became disoriented by artificial lights and was found on Rickman Parade, Woorim on 31st December 2018. Her hatchlings followed in her footsteps, disoriented by the lights along Rickman Parade. 95 babies were found by Bribie’s turtle carers in the long grass. Luckily the sand back-passing pipe prevented the hatchlings from reaching the road. They were released on the beach and happily headed towards their new marine home.
