25.01.2022 For the next 48 hours (or while stocks last) Beauty Pantry is offering a free full size cucumber toning face oil (a moisturiser and pore minimiser in one) when you buy a Night Repair Serum (rich in protective healing pomegranate oil). We absolutely swear by these Adelaide-made facial oils, and have a special shout out as well for the Turmeric Oil for anyone with congested, oily or irritated skin, its a game changer and has a loyal following from teens with breakouts right through the age spectrum. Ask Alecia @beautypantryaustralia all about how she makes these small batch oils by hand and why she uses the special blends she does, every ingredient has a purpose!

25.01.2022 Guys!! Thankyou SO much for today. Especially to everyone who queued up for 90 mins down the street and around the corner and especially to the people who got there an hour early because they forgot it started at 10am and not 9am and especially to the couple who bought a box of cafe goods including our hand lettered table numbers for all the good memories and to the couple who told us they went on their first date at B+M and are STILL together and oh my how wer...e going to miss you ALL so very much. So tomorrows sale wont be going ahead because we have nothing else to sell , were so sorry! But please if you have a current gift voucher send us an email before 15 June so we can issue you a refund, and well be here on instagram till the end of June letting you know how to support our makers AND sharing some of our most popular recipes so you can create a little B+M at home now that were no longer a physical space. .x E See more

24.01.2022 Sometimes the weekend just cant come fast enough. Especially when the @studio_mono and platter makes the simplest of spreads look so damn fine with absolutely no effort at all! Made in Adelaide from Tasmanian Oak, with a custom glass bottle stopper (so much nicer than a loose screw top) and a hollow space underneath to store the cheese knives (equally handy for compact spaces, picnics and hiding the cheese knife from others). We give this 10/10 for Friday night goals You can shop direct with John and Kumiko of @studio_mono and explore their full range via our website makers directory homewares section. Each of their stunning home and tableware pieces is a collaboration between wood (John) and glass (Kumiko), with a beautifully crisp design aesthetic. Happy Friday everyone!

24.01.2022 With an impeccable sense of timing wed planning a long overdue overseas trip as a family at the end of this year. 22.01.2022 Heres the recipe for everybodys favourite comfort food, our Spicy Bean Bowl. Weve adapted it a little so its easy to make at home, ...youre welcome. . For a home-sized family batch, youll need the following, halve it for a couple (both batches will have leftovers): 2 tins of butter beans, 2 tins of red kidney beans, and 2 tins of borlotti beans, drained and rinsed 2 tins diced tomatoes... 2 medium onions, diced 1 heaped teaspoon crushed garlic 1.5 tbsp each of sweet paprika, turmeric, cumin and vegetable stock powder. 3/4 tbsp chilli flakes (Aleppo chilli flakes give it a more mellow heat) 1/4 cup maple syrup . In a large heavy based pot, cook the onion and then garlic in olive oil until soft, add in the spices and stock powder, and fry until well combined. . Add the tomatoes, stir through and then add in the beans. Cook slowly, add in the maple syrup and add salt and pepper to taste. . Top with a poached egg, half a sliced avocado, dukkah and rocket. We served this with a slice of buttery toasted rosemary & potato sourdough from @artisan_sourdough_bread (insta). Lose the egg and its vegan, or its also great with crumbled danish feta or sliced chorizo. Enjoy! See more

22.01.2022 Because you asked so nicely, here’s the recipe for our super wholesome Brick+Mortar Breakfast Bowl (actually it’s great at any time of day) Have fun with it! . For the topping, follow the photo as a guide for presentation and quantity, but basically load it up with your favourites from ...the below: a poached egg (always add a teaspoon of white vinegar to the water) a sprinkle of smokey paprika over the egg thinly sliced Tuscan kale massaged with olive oil and chilli flakes a couple of slices of fried haloumi pumpkin (or sweet potato) slices slow roasted with dukkah broccolini gently tossed in a pan with a little olive oil Tumeric sauerkraut (a good quality store bought one is easiest) a generous dollop of beetroot hummus (recipe below) a sprinkle of toasted sunflower seeds and slivered almonds Beetroot hummus 2 cans chickpeas, drained 1/4 beetroot, juiced 1/4 tsp minced garlic 1/4 lemon, juiced 1/2 tbs tahini 25ml olive oil Blitz all ingredients in food processor until smooth. 21.01.2022 Speak up, stand up, call out racism in all its forms. Its not enough just to be passively non-racist, we have to be actively anti-racist.

18.01.2022 The most waitlisted things for us ever at B+M were these boob cups by @maddiedeereceramics, which hands down have to be the best way to have your morning coffee . But I have to say I always had a secret soft spot for Maddies cactus tableware (swipe to see), because, well ... . If you visit our makers directory on our website you can shop direct with Maddie and still support all our makers that way now that our doors have closed at B+M.

18.01.2022 So, like we promised, were sharing our favourite B+M cafe recipes this month, heres our first! . Brick+Mortar Granola . Ingredients:... 1 bag rolled oats 1 cup almonds, chopped 1 cups cashews, chopped 1 cup sunflower seeds 1 cup pepitas 2 cups coconut oil (melted) 2 cups maple syrup 3tbs cinnamon 3tbs nutmeg 1 cup flaked coconut 1 cup goji berries . Method: Roughly chop the nuts. Mix all ingredients together in a big bowl (this makes a big batch) except the goji berries. Bake for an hour at 160 degrees, checking and mixing every 15 minutes for even toasting, and when its cooled, toss the goji berries through. Its great topped with yoghurt and fruit, or sprinkled over a breakfast smoothie for a bit of crunch, and makes a great healthy snack in its own. We hope you enjoy it at home as much as you did with us. #sharethelove #brickandmortarcreative See more

15.01.2022 For everyone who’s missing our famous toasties, we’re sharing the recipes here . All adapted to make it easier to prepare at home in (much) smaller quantities than we did - so figure what quantities will suit how many you’re preparing, or make extra and stash in the fridge for a snack later! Oh, and the golden rule for all toasties is of course liberally butter the outside of the bread slices before putting them into a sandwich press and leave to cook until well browned and... cheese is well melted, it makes all the difference! . CHICKEN & PROVOLONE Using @artisan_sourdough_bread (find them on insta) multigrain, prepare the following, fill generously and toast! generous amount of herb aioli (mix Thomy mayonnaise with equal amounts of finely chopped parsley, dill & chives, a little crushed garlic and a pinch of salt and pepper to taste) pulled chicken (in a large pot fry off half an onion, 1 stick celery, 1 carrot in a little olive oil until soft, then add water, half a lemon and bring to the boil, then gently poach free range chicken breasts for approx 40 mins, pull apart into shredded pieces when cooked). thinly sliced pickled green chillies (homemade are best and super easy) finely diced red onion provolone cheese slices . ROAST PUMPKIN AND GREENS Using @artisan_sourdough_bread rosemary & potato, prepare the following, fill generously and toast! + slices of slow roasted pumpkin (toss with oil and sprinkle with dukkah to roast) pesto (homemade is best and easy) finely sliced red onion sliced avocado dukkah (a light sprinkle, we used @goodiesandgrains) and pepitas Baby spinach Semi-dried tomatoes . CLASSIC RUEBEN Using @artisan_sourdough_bread multigrain, prepare the following, fill generously and toast! Generous amount of Russian dressing (we made our own, a mixture of sour cream, double that in mayonnaise, add in very finely diced gherkins and red onion, then sprinkle in some paprika, chilli powder, a little splash of Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice, a pinch of horseradish and that’s it!) Pastrami (lets just say lots, it’s a Rueben) Sauerkraut (lots, for crunch, buy good quality, it’s worth it!) Jarlsberg cheese sliced dill pickle See more

11.01.2022 So, we thought on our last day it’s time for a ‘reverse reveal’ ... . We had our end of lease inspection today with our super lovely landlord City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters and thought we’d show you what the space looks like now it’s EMPTY vs how you remember it as B+M. So swipe across to see, and lets just say even empty now (photos 7+8) it still looks a LOT better than when we first started stripping back what had previously been the senior citizens centre (photos... 9+10!). And a huge shout out to Council for taking a risk with us way back in 2014 when it was all just an idea, for their generosity in providing us with the space at minimal rent for the first couple of years while we got started, for always looking for ways to engage local small businesses and creatives in the area, and generally being friendly, approachable and enthusiastic. Best experience as a first time small business owner, thankyou! It’s so strange looking back at those earliest photos - that royal blue carpet went all the way up the stairs and had old horsehairy underlay full of so much dust that when we pulled it up we couldn’t see each other at opposite ends of the building! 11.01.2022 Time for our next menu favourites share, our three most popular smoothies! Perfect for a healthy start to the day, or a post-school snack to tide you over, here they are: . GREEN SMOOTHIE (my all time favourite and an excellent hangover cure btw) 1-2 frozen bananas (1 big or 2 small, make sure theyre fully ripe when you freeze them) Handful of baby spinach leaves... 6 seedless dates 1 tsp nutmeg & 1 tsp cinnamon 400ml coconut milk Blend till very smooth and top with a sprinkle of chia seeds. . BANANA CACAO SMOOTHIE (rich and chocolatey) 1-2 frozen bananas (always peel them before popping them in the freezer) 1 tbsp cacao powder 7 seedless dates 400 ml coconut milk Blend till very smooth and top with a sprinkle of cacao nibs. . MIXED BERRY SMOOTHIE (the simplest of them all, great for kids) 1 cup frozen berries 1 tbsp quality honey 1 tbsp natural Greek style yoghurt 400ml full cream milk Blend till smooth, and if you cant go straw free then use a compostable paper one! (tip: for a super thick texture like a smoothie bowl just add extra frozen banana and decorate the top with seasonal fruits and nuts ) . @evka.photography #sharethelove #stayhealthy #vegansmoothie #brickandmortarcreative See more

03.01.2022 @fruzsikenezart was one of the very first artists to join us at B+M five years ago. 02.01.2022 There are lots of reasons we loved being a physical shopfront, and one of them was because you can TOUCH all the lovely things.
