08.01.2022 Smoking affects the function of your lungs and your immune system, placing anyone who smokes at a greater risk of developing more severe disease from infections, such as #coronavirus. The best way to reduce this risk is to quit smoking. Quitting is beneficial to your health generally and could reduce the severity of disease and improve recovery if you are infected. For more information about smoking and COVID-19, visit the I Can Quit website: https://www.icanquit.com.au//cov...id-19-and-tobacco-smoking- #QuitForLife #COVID19

07.01.2022 IMPORTANT CHANGES TO VISITOR GUIDELINES Due to the increase in cases of community transmitted COVID-19 across the state in recent weeks, we have made the diffic...ult but necessary decision to reintroduce visitor restrictions across all Hunter New England Health facilities. We know this may be challenging for our patients and their loved ones, however the safety of patients and staff is paramount and we are committed to taking the appropriate steps to protect them. As of Saturday 25 July, a limit of one visitor at a time per patient at inpatient and community health facilities will be implemented. Patients attending an outpatient clinic can have a support person attend with them if required. Our aged care residents may also have one visitor, however, there are specific guidelines for these more vulnerable groups. All visitors to these facilities must also be vaccinated against influenza. For more information about visiting restrictions in Residential Aged Care Facilities, please visit: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au///residential-aged-care.aspx Of course we understand there will be circumstances where exceptions may be required due to compassionate reasons and these can be considered on an individual basis. We thank our community for their continued patience and understanding as we navigate the pandemic. To continue to keep everyone safe in our facilities, all visitors must pass screening processes, including routine temperature checking. Visitors who are unwell with cold or flu-like symptoms, or who have been tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting results, will be asked to reschedule their visit. In addition, those who have visited a known hotspot will not be allowed entry. A full list of COVID-19 hotspots can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates We ask that all visitors continue to adhere to hand-hygiene and infection control instructions from our staff, and maintain social distancing rules at all times, including in our health facilities. We will keep you updated with any further changes to visitor restrictions in our health services. If you have questions about your individual situation, please contact your clinician or the health service directly.
