25.01.2022 Joining the global celebration for International Youth Day, today we would like to share just one of the many innovative ways our #BRIDGEschool students have been leading the charge to support their local, national and global communities. Since 2018, St Monica's College Epping have been partnered with their BRIDGE school, Moreno Integrated School, in The Philippines. Collaborating on a series of projects, students have developed bonds of friendship that tranced the four walls... of their classrooms. Exuding empathy, over the course of the Term 3, Year 12 VCAL students have been selling Harvest Snap baked pea crisps to raising awareness amongst their local community to support their counterparts through the effects of the pandemic. Well done to all involved! #AEFchat #BRIDGEprogram2020 #AAC #YouthDay Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Australia-ASEAN Council Australia in The Philippines Asia Education Foundation

16.01.2022 Global competence and intercultural learning are part of the Australian Curriculum. They are embedded in General Capabilities, Key Learning Areas, and Cross-curriculum priorities. ACARA is currently conducting a full review of the curriculum across these domains, with the intention of refining how schools balance the broad range of learning they offer their students. Some may think that a focus on global competence is a distraction from the need for greater literacy and numeracy. Such narrow, selective perspectives ignore the interconnected world we live in and ways in which meaningful, relevant, and contextual education works in tandem with foundational elements like literacy and numeracy.
