25.01.2022 I'm sharing this post from my facebook group, as I thought some of the ideas in it were worth sharing here THIS AIN'T MY FIRST RODEO. There was a thread on her...e yesterday about hobbles, which I turned off commenting for. The reason I turned off commenting was not because I have anything against hobbling. Hobbling is the same as trailer loading, or riding in a shanked bit. It's perfectly fine if you do it, as long as there is a step by step process.I turned off commenting because the post was a negative discussion about what someone who was not here to defend themselves was doing. Turning off commenting on that post caused someone else to ask another post about hobbling, and one of the comments in there urged me to write about its content. Someone commented "From my understanding the post was put to a stop because we don’t bash other training methods" Another person replied "No they just don’t like folks using any other training methods if it’s not there’s. Whenever I comment with a different approach they delete my comments." This is not the first time I have heard someone say that I don't like to use other people's training methods, and nothing could be further from the truth. How do you think I found the methods I use? I got them from other people, and I always say who I got them off. The circle exercise I got from Dell Hendricks The Ross exercise I got from Ross Jacobs Leading with energy I got from Jonathan Field A lot of the connection work was inspired by Elsa Sinclair The clicker training was originally inspired by Mary K Kitzmiller and more recently Georgia Bruce. Most of the training exercises I use with our reining horses came from dressage trainers, not reining trainers. The list is endless. If I didn't use other people's techniques, I wouldn't have any techniques. If you suggest doing something on a thread, that I find is not in line with the principles I practice, I will delete your comment (this is CLEARLY outlined in the pinned post-announcement at the top of the page). If you suggest someone else's technique on a thread and the thread starts to be negative toward that person, I will either turn off commenting or delete your comment. WE DO NOT TALK NEGATIVELY ABOUT OTHER TRAINERS ON HERE. Getting back to "this ain't my first rodeo". I've been training horses professionally for 30 years, and am always looking at better ways to do things. As I find a new technique that worked better, I drop the old one off. So it's an ever-morphing set of ideas, which is why these days I'm more into saying "it's a mindset, not a method". Heck, I even made a TV show called the Principles Of Training which features this quote at the start of it. "Techniques there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble. So if you want to publicly announce to all 30,000 people on this group that ""no they just don’t like folks using any other training methods if it’s not there’s (sic)", you are just showing that you really have no idea what I'm on about. End of rant. May you all be happy.

24.01.2022 "Those horses we all want to call cheaters aren't really cheaters. It's us. We cause it. If we stay square in our hips, our horses run true across the pen. When... we start to get excited and go to the turn a little early and drop our outside hip, our horses step to the turn, which is what most people want to call a cheater. In reality, if we stay square until we clear their shoulder and then kind of drop our outside hip, those horses will move forward and you won't hit barrels." #joywargo #neverstoplearning #trainingbarrelhorses #bhn See more

23.01.2022 Takeaways from NFR 2020: - I want to be as gracious as Dona Kay Rule. In the crappiest of circumstances, she handled it with an abundance of grace and class. -... I want to be as fearless as Jackie Hobbs-Crawford. 6 months pregnant, competing in the first NFBR, she cuts off her saddle horn and wins it all. - I want to be as positive as Ryann Pedone. Seriously, how many hits can one woman take, but she took it in stride and didn’t use it as an excuse to throw her sucker in the dirt. - I want to be humble like Hailey Kinsel. I mean, come on, she and Sister are badasses and she has every reason to be conceited, but she always thanks everyone else and gives credit to her team & amazing mare. - I want to have fun like Emily Beisel and Jimmie Smith. Win or lose, these ladies smiled, laughed, joked and always looked like they were enjoying every minute. - I want to inspire others like Stevi Hillman. She isn’t scared to share her walk with God through scripture and motivational quotes. If you have a daughter, like I do, these are the women they should look up to and emulate. In a world full of negativity and discord, these are the type of women we all should raise up and celebrate within our gender. So ladies, let’s all strive to be better. The next race you go to, be kind, humble, gracious, fearless and have fun!

22.01.2022 If you Train the Horse you will always Blame the Horse. If you Train yourself you will always Praise the Horse. My Life Changed when I woke up and Realized I... was the Problem not my Horses. So easy to pass the Blame. But it takes Strength to admit the Truth. 21.01.2022 Something to think about with your game Only you can can stop yourself from stopping yourself

20.01.2022 You don’t have to be the best one there, you just have to think you are. This doesn’t mean you need to walk around acting conceited or like you are better th...an others. This just simply means you need to believe in yourself and trust your training. Do your homework. Work everyday at having better feel, better timing and a better trained horse. Put in the time, even when you don’t want to. Then when you get to the test, clear your mind of the doubts and the what if’s. Believe that what you did to prepare is enough and see what happens! You will either win or learn. Then go home and keep trying! #Forco #CoatsSaddlery #RockAndRollCowgirl #MVP #SilverLiningHerbs #SummitJointPerformance #Kahm #ClassicEquine #SchaferPerformanceHorses HORSEpro.tv Bee Silva Photography

19.01.2022 Lately, in videos, I've been on about only asking your horse "yes' questions, only asking things that your horse can say "yes, I can do that" to. In this video ...I show footage from a clinic in England in 2015 where in the space of 2 days, I helped a young lady with an eventer who tends to be very forward (most of us would call him rushy with no brakes) get him to the point where we take off the bridle, and ride him at a walk, trot and canter AND slow to a stop from her seat at the canter, the first time we try it. This video illustrates how finding a good starting point, or creating one, and ensuring the basics work perfectly, is the key to success with any endeavor with horses. See more

18.01.2022 If there is something wrong with your horse ask a Vet. If there is something wrong with performance get a good horse trainer with credits and that teaches horsemanship. It's not a drill or bit that fixes it. 90 percent its human error. Stop blaming the horse. #accountability

17.01.2022 A great picture to show how important RIBCAGE control is vs just bending of the head/neck! This goes along with my post a few days ago about picking a horse up... I do not want banana shaped horses!! My goal is to pick up the ribcage and when I do so, the head and neck come along with it and shape around my leg. This allows for proper train track like forward motion where the back feet follow the front feet. #softnotoverbent #bodycontrol See more

07.01.2022 Is there a drill for ..... Why does everyone want a drill to try an fix the issue? Most issues in the barrel race you can fix with dry work.... The rest of the issue is YOU! The way to fix you is riding with intent. It’s holding yourself accountable. It’s making changes, using common sense and critical thinking. It’s learning to have control of your mind and body. A good part of it is learning to control your emotions. It’s ass in saddle time. 04.01.2022 There has been a lot of people asking to see the stretching video again. It is a old one and while we may have changed somethings, but the basics are there. Remember to take your time and feel the horse.

03.01.2022 Stop looking for the next gimmick or quick fix. Chances are you are the problem. Learn how to be a better horseman.... Then consistently practice being a better horseman. Learn to work on your body control. Pay attention to cause and effect when you ask a horse to do a maneuver. Ride with intent. Know what your goals are for the day. Know what you want to accomplish with each ride. #1stphormathletesearch #iam1stphorm #silverliningherbs #neutrabacph #horselogicprofessional #resboots #schneiderperformancepads #hooligandesigns See more
