24.01.2022 Right here in our own backyard is Timberlink Australia, employing over 150 northern Tasmanian locals to transform sustainably grown plantation pine into quality timber products. New research shows that 9 in 10 Australians want us to produce more locally made goods. The Morrison Government is finalising our manufacturing strategy to drive Australia’s economic recovery. We can all play our part by buying Australian Made, supporting local businesses and local jobs whenever we... can. #AustralianMade #MadeofTasmania

21.01.2022 Through the #LauncestonCityDeal, the three levels of government are working together with local partners and the community to achieve the shared vision of making Launceston one of Australia's most livable and innovative regional cities. There are a number of components to the deal, including the City of Launceston Official Work Discovery Program a partnership with The Smith Family that has seen over 50 students from two local northern Tasmanian primary schools interview council staff and learn how local government roles support the community.

20.01.2022 Lovely morning walk in Whitemark, Flinders Island this morning where I was greeted by another friendly local! A fantastic day here yesterday and gearing up for another great one today. This island really is breathtaking and for those in Tasmania, I would strongly recommend adding this to your holiday list.

19.01.2022 Ensuring engagement and participation in all levels of government is important to our democratic process. This year I’ve been engaging with younger members of our migrant communities to break down any barriers that may exist so they can have their voices heard. Thank you to the Multicultural Council of Tasmania for inviting me to speak on the role an elected member of federal parliament plays in their community.

17.01.2022 Thank you to the leadership group from Flinders Island District High School - Connor, Heidi, Amy, Pippa and Poppy - for your thoughtful questions today and taking the time to show me around your wonderful school.

17.01.2022 My son James helping to plant some trees with his Prep class today. Students from South George Town Primary have joined forces with Bell Bay Aluminium to plant trees in the local George Town area, learning about threatened plant ecosystems as well as proper planting practice. Dad will be happy to have some extra help when planting trees on our farm!

12.01.2022 Fantastic day in the West Tamar region today with Jo Palmer MLC who joined me in visiting local businesses and community groups in Exeter and Beaconsfield, including the R.S.L. Beaconsfield. Thank you to everyone who stopped to have a chat with us today!

11.01.2022 This year more than ever has reminded us of the importance of community and why sporting clubs provide more than just an opportunity to play a favourite game - they give so many a place of belonging and connection. Thanks to the Trevallyn Bowls and Community Club for giving me a chance to roll the first bowl of the season yesterday. A wonderful chance to catch up with club members and my colleagues Jo Palmer MLC and Michael Ferguson

09.01.2022 Throw back to a few weeks ago meeting with Marcus, Brendan, Linda and Kimberley from the Ringarooma Community Hub who received a grant under the Federal Government's Stronger Communities Program. The funding has given the Hub the opportunity to upgrade amenities to allow for the cooking of meals year-round - a much needed addition to the popular social spot for locals. Looking forward to getting to the Hub for a meal very soon!

James, Lauren and Molly had an amazing time dancing, singing and creating artwork with some of our region’s most talented creatives who volunteered their time for the event. With so many events cancelled this year, this event was a wonderful reminder of the spirit of our community!
