24.01.2022 This from this. Forged from a gold nugget of old gold. Starting with a tiny drilled hole, the seed of a ring. No solder joins. Stretched and compressed over time. Hammered, sometimes gently, sometimes with strength until cracks started to form. Weaknesses fused together with intense heat. Made stronger with time. The process driving the outcome and representing 50 years of marriage. I realise Im a tad late for week one but am giving myself a bit of slack (which can be challenging for someone who usually gives herself a hard time if a deadline isnt met). BUT the most wonderful thing about this is that if I hadnt decided to participate and make that little effort to walk down to the beach to make my circle of found objects, I wouldnt have seen a pod of whales making their way up the coast! This pair of wooden, beeswax, oxidised silver and enamel painted earrings were made during a wonderful artist residency at @gunyahartists . 13.01.2022 Week three of #everysevendays2020 with @clothjulie week two was skipped having worked every day since coming back from hols, am missing time with my garden and nature. And the small back courtyard here at the gallery has also been neglected. It's the space where we usually celebrate exhibition openings, catch up with friends and colleagues. Last year there was a rolling program of exhibitions and catchups and I spent time there before each opening, trimming and watering the p...lants, dusting, cleaning, caring. . This weeks 'curly' theme was an opportunity to spend a bit of time in this little bit of nature in the urban environment, remembering the past and contemplating ways to move forward. I found some airplant that I'd tucked into a wall hanging gifted to me by the beautiful @nicolerobins_ It had grown into a lovely curly mess over the months and I think looks beautiful as an ephemeral neckpiece.
