21.01.2022 Small Wall - Russian Oil Sketches (view online: https://www.bridgetmcdonnellgallery.com.au//russian-oil-s/) "... At the end of the Soviet system the professional artists were given ownership of their apartments, and those with studios got them as well, and although they no longer had the State support, they retained the studio contents ...however, their work was completely out of fashion. The lifeline was interest from abroad. The studios were full of preparatory sketches.... These immediate impressions of life by these highly trained artists were a revelation. They were certainly the basis of the interest I have maintained over the last twenty eight years of buying them." extract from "Art in Russia", John Barkes, London These paintings are unframed. Frames can be included and would cost an additional $80-$120. We will cover freight, Australia wide. Contact the gallery for better photos

18.01.2022 Different perspectives of Jeff Ferris’ (1946-) 2020 work ‘Dove Uno’. On show in our Christmas Exhibition. Jeff’s art is inspired by Melbourne’s inner industrial western suburbs, where he grew up. His striking artworks feature industrial imagery that contrasts with suburban life, such as children playing, washing flapping in the wind, white picket fences, or in this case, an elderly resident going for a walk.... "Jeff Ferris is a sharp-focus realist who uses mundane, suburban contrasts to create visual shock ..." Ronald Millar, The Herald,1984 If you are interested in this piece come in to check it out, have a look on our website (https://www.bridgetmcdonnellgallery.com.au//christmas-exhi) or contact us: - [email protected] - 9347 1700
