23.01.2022 2020 has had its challenges but there are still so many great stories and outcomes achieved by our Parentsnext participants. Meet Helen (not her real name), single parent from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background and a domestic violence survivor. Attending her first Bridging the Gap career development workshops and counselling, Helen was eager to kickstart her employment goals in 2020. Even COVID wasn’t going to stop her determination. Helen started a Cer...tificate III Individual Support course in February 2020 but when COVID hit, she had to juggle home schooling her children and completing her course when it switched to online delivery. By June, as restrictions eased, Helen was able to start her work placement, and this led to a job offer upon the completion of her certificate in August. Throughout her course, Helen was supported by her BTG mentor, with regular contact, whether via a quick SMS catch up or 1hr video chat. Helen's low confidence and self esteem meant she always second guessed her capabilities and often needed a pep talk and reminder of all the small steps she had already achieved towards her goals. Today we had our exit appointment. Now in long term employment, Helen has achieved her goals. Helen stated how thankful for the support and guidance she received in her Parentsnext journey, and that she was happy to exit to allow someone else to take her spot and start their journey. Well done Helen, we wish you all the best for the future, and we are always here if you need us.

01.01.2022 Employment Opportunities for Young People ABS Census Adecco Recruitment has partnered with the Australian Bureau of Statistics to recruit 38,000 temporary employees in areas across the country. These employees will play an important role in helping people to lodge their Census forms for the Australian National Census 2021. They are seeking your assistance in promoting the positions within your area. The Census provides valuable insights into the make-up of Australian soci...ety and is often the only source of data on small population groups and small geographic areas, which is why it is vital that we achieve the highest level of engagement and participation possible within your area.
