22.01.2022 !! Victorian coronavirus cases climb as Government makes masks mandatory for Melbourne and Mitchell Shire !! Residents in Metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire will soon be required to wear face coverings in public or risk a fine, as Victoria extends its state of emergency by another four weeks. Victoria has extended its state of emergency until August 16.... Three people have died since yesterday, bringing Victoria's death toll to 38. It's hoped mandatory face coverings will drive down workplace transmission. The new rule will come into effect from 11:59pm on Wednesday, and the fine for not wearing one will be $200. Premier Daniel Andrews said "common sense" would guide the new rules and people would not be required to wear one when it was impractical, such as when actively jogging or visiting a bank. Teachers will not need to wear masks in the classroom, and it will not be required for children under 12. But for everyone else in the lockdown zone including high school students and office workers wearing a mask or face covering "whenever practical" will become mandatory. The premier of Victoria, Mr. Andrews said that this initiative doesn't come at an enormous cost to the Victorian economy and he also added that It still allows them to go about their business, particularly those who can't work at home and for going outside shopping for the basics when they are needed from themselves. The coronavirus pandemic has significantly changed the economic and social environment for migration policies and programs, but well-targeted migration policies and programs remain essential to Victorias economic recovery. The Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs has provided the Victorian Government with an interim allocation of visa nomination places for the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) up until the Federal Budget on 6 October. A limited number of places are to be used to address the states economic recovery and health response to the pandemic. The Commonwealth Government will advise after the Federal Budget what additional state nomination visa places will be allocated to the Victorian Government for the remainder of the 2020-21 program year. For the interim period, the Victorian Governments business and investor migration program will reopen with no substantial changes to the existing nomination criteria, except for one additional requirement. All business and investment activities must contribute to Victorias economic recovery or health response to be approved for visa nomination. You must address this new criterion using the Economic Recovery Business and Investment Support Form when you submit your application through the Live-in Melbourne portal. Places are limited and applications are expected to be highly competitive. To have the best chance of success, it is important that your application is specific about the way your business or investment will assist Victorias economic recovery or health response to the pandemic. The Commonwealth Government has provided the interim places for the Victorian Government to use until the Federal Budget.
