24.01.2022 DIFFERENT! Why am I different? Why do I feel things so strongly? Why won’t my brain stop buzzing/thinking? Why can’t I be ‘normal’?... These are some of things I hear my students say sometimes. Trying to navigate learning, school, relationships and life. My response; Different is good and unique Big feelings = big emotions = a big heart and mind Our brains are wired to protect us, we need to teach it to ‘relax/switch off. There is no ‘normal’ just individual and no one in the world is exactly like you, that is awesome! Today I was given a massive compliment with Thank you for understanding me for me! Beautiful, what a privilege. I love what I do! #educationconsultant #bridiearchereducation #diversityandinclusion #teachersofinstagram #kindness #neurodiversity See more

20.01.2022 Sometimes we assume that children understand Place Value. Understanding place value is one of the foundational skills of maths. If this concept is not fully understood it can have implications for all other topics in maths. I work with a lot of children in middle school kids that do not fully understand this concept. How can we assist children? 1Use multi sensory techniques 2 Repetition 3Scaffold learning 4Explicitly teach concepts... 5Concrete materials & visuals 6Time to consolidate & master skills 7Discuss thinking/processing 8Praise If you’re looking for strategies to support your child or students contact us to discuss methods and strategies that work! 18.01.2022 Let’s Talk Emotional Regulation... At the moment the general consensus amongst educators is that emotional regulation is the number one focus in schools at the moment. At first it was exciting to be back at school. Reconnecting with school, routines and friends.... BUT... Now there maybe anxiety Exhaustion Big emotions and meltdowns To all the parents, teachers and ES staff holding space for co-regulation it maybe tiring right now. You are amazing and you got this. Remember we are navigating our way out of a pandemic, it’s all new. #education #educationconsultant #teachersofinstagram #emotionregulation #corregulation #bridiearchereducation

16.01.2022 The anticipation about resuming school tomorrow may bring a mix of emotions. Check in with your kids today and tomorrow morning to see how they’re feeling; you could see a mix of emotions like these or many others. Try to: Get uniforms and shoes ready Have bags packed ahead of time Have an early night A nutritious breakfast ... Don’t forget a hat Be positive and send love Acknowledge any big feelings It’s going to be a big week so take care of yourself and those around you #returntoschool2020 #melbournelockdown2020 #educationconsultant #nurture #bigemotions #bridiearchereducation See more

14.01.2022 Day 2 back at school! How is everyone travelling? Remember to acknowledge and work through any emotions that may be coming; right now tired and exhausted are high on most people’s list. Try to rest and reconnect at the end of the day. Check in and chat Relax, reconnect & reflect Rest, meditate, breathe Teachers make sure you’re doing this too!... #melbournelockdown2020 #teachersofmelbourne #iloveteaching #reconnect #emotionalregulation #emotionalrollercoaster #educationconsultant #bridiearchereducation See more

06.01.2022 My son said to me today Mum you’re not like other mums, you wear crazy leggings and you’re silly; you’re different! My response absolutely buddy, I am different and I’m proud of that; why would I want to be like anyone else? I don’t care what people think, I’m happy being me and I want you to always to be you. Big smile I’m always going to be different too mum and that’s awesome. Difference and diversity should always be celebrated, not trying to fit inside a box. 02.01.2022 Disappointment... Let’s talk about this and how it’s actually a great learning opportunity... Today my daughter is super disappointed, we’d made plans but unfortunately they didn’t work out as a cold has decided to appear in our house. Unfortunately a result of ‘life getting back to some kind of normal’ is more exposure to common colds and viruses as we are around more people. But things aren’t like they were before. We cannot just ‘go out, socialise or work’ when we’re not f...eeling 100% because the world has changed. I think most adults understand this but our little people may not. This is a great opportunity to have discussions about Taking responsibility for others Doing the right thing even when it’s hard or disappointing Understanding that things don’t always go to plan and we need to be adaptable Developing resilience (boy 2020 has taught us that) So while I’m super disappointed, she’s disappointed making the ‘right choice’ is important for the well-being and safety of others & ourselves. Rules are there to keep us ; safe, happy & healthy So while nobody likes missing out or feeling disappointed, it certainly part of life. #bridiearchereducation #disappointed #parenting #lessonsinlife #2020 #rules See more
