25.01.2022 After 4 days of cutting backings and battings, pressing and spray basting the quilts for the shelter are together ready to be quilted. I have even managed to quilt 2 of them. Lots of bobbin winding and hard work ahead.

23.01.2022 With the help from my wonderful friend Elizabeth Page I have finished the construction of the quilt tops for the Warrawee Women's Shelter. She kindly took four of my pre cut quilt kits home and is currently assembling the last two. Now I just have to quilt them. It is at these times I wish I had a long arm quilting machine. With the price of fabric rapidly increasing in price, in some cases nearly doubling, I am very thankful for the very kind people who donate pieces of fab...ric to me. I would not be able to gift the amount of quilts etc that I do. Most of these quilts are made with 1 metre of the focus fabric. I carefully choose a quilt design to go with each piece. It is and always has been my ethos that I do not make and donate something that I would not give to a member of my family or a good friend. I hope to have these finished by the end of November or early December and will then have an unveiling on my my fence as usual.

22.01.2022 Another set of I Existed I Mattered Early Pregnancy Loss keepsake packages just completed for the Mersey Community Hospital on the NW Coast. These packages are given to mothers who experience early miscarriages and are not admitted to hospital. The I Existed I Mattered packages are so named because to their mothers these tiny souls did in fact exist and they mattered. Their short lives are validated. If you know of a medical practice in Tasmania who would like to have these to gift to families who experience an early pregnancy loss please pass on my details to them.

20.01.2022 Construction of the quilts for Warrawee Women's Shelter in Ulverstone is well under way. Approximately 1/4 of the tops have been put together so hopefully the target of around 20 or so will be met by December. It was a battle trying to photograph with the wind so apologies for the crinkles and wrinkles. They may not be breathtakingly beautiful but I try to make them look like they have ben made from especially chosen fabric and designs and not thrown together with unloved fabrics from the bottom of the cupboard.

19.01.2022 The Senate has passed the bill so it will now be included in legislation .

16.01.2022 The 24 quilts for Warrawee Women’s shelter were loaded into the car yesterday and delivered to them. They were very gratefully received, and many will be distributed on Christmas morning with the pirate and princess themed quilts sure to be a hit with the young children. Now to find some more pirate themed fabric for the next lot of quilts. Another 11 bags have also been newly completed for women on the NW undergoing treatment for cancer. These will be passed to Sue Radford to fill with personal care items made possible by her Flickering Memories High Tea fundraising events which she co-organises with Virginia Stevens. Both women do an absolutely amazing job organizing the events each year, more so this year given the difficulties that Covid has presented them. The bags will be distributed by the Cancer Centre at the NWRH

13.01.2022 24 quilts completed and ready to be delivered to the Warrawee Women's shelter at the and of next week. There is an assortment of quilts to cater for women and children of all ages. Battling the wind we had a pop up quilt show on our fence this morning but had to do it in two sets. The first set were the smaller quilts measuring approximately 115 cm ( 45 inches) square and are mainly for children. The second set are 135 cm (53 inches) square. The photo of the larger quilts is shot in panorama mode to get all the quilts in.

11.01.2022 I am about 1/3 of the way through quilting the group of quilts I am making for the Warrawee Women's Shelter. Hopefully they will be completely finished by the end of the month. I love that cheeky monkey peeking out. I have to cover the quilts as I do them as they are a very attractive bed for a certain black feline to sleep on.

05.01.2022 A wonderful initiative from the ladies of Soroptimist International Devonport.
