24.01.2022 To say that 2020 wasn’t ideal is an understatement. It will be the year we look back at with many emotions. We can be grateful the valleys of Bright and Surrounds remain unchanged, still stunning, inspiring, and uplifting. Bring on 2021, because we are ready for more adventures and to continue a life lived outside. Image thanks to local photographer John Hensridge #brightandsurrounds

23.01.2022 Have you ever swam in Rollason Falls? Its breathtaking, literally, even in the middle of Summer the water is cold. Hats off to you Stan and thanks for bringing more adventure to our lockdown. Please note, this video was filmed earlier in the week before Mount Buffalo National Park was closed to the public. I wonder where Stan will take us this week? ... Video thanks to Instagram creator @stanmeissner, currently sharing a COVID lockdown adventure everyday.

23.01.2022 Take 2 minutes to escape with us Dear Karen, We just wanted to send you a postcard of one of our favourite trails in Bright, the Canyon Walk. Listening to the water is so calming as you wonder along the trail, it makes all the little things melt away. We know of many locals and visitors that choose this walk for that very reason. ... Take care and stay safe, Bright & Surrounds PS We thought it would be fun to hide some of our favourite things in our postcard, can you find all of them? A hiker in a blue jacket, a picnic basket and bottle of local wine, skis and poles, a camera, a mountain bike and an esky on a picnic blanket.

22.01.2022 What better way to recharge your batteries than some time alone or as Stan does, an adventure alone. Some quiet time on the Kiewa River would calm and invigorate anyone (just don’t forget your fishing rod!). See you next Monday at 7pm, for the final episode before Stan has a bit of a break, don’t miss it. #stansweeklyadventures #brightandsurrounds ... @stanmeissner See more

22.01.2022 This is a lovely story of a beautiful walk that was embraced and bombed by two local artists. The Crackpots have created an arts walk along the Ovens River Trail. This walk is suitable for all ages and abilities with well-made paths for ease of accessibility. An ever evolving landscape with new mosaics to find, kids (and adults) love the mystery and challenge whilst enjoying the walk along the river. The Crackpots have also created brochures, activities booklets and website, driven purely by their passion to give back to their town. You can find out more at the Myrtleford Information Centre, visitmyrtlefordvic.com.au or myrtlefordmosaictrail.com.au

22.01.2022 We have had a bit of a theme of hide-and-seek in our moving postcards but Stan has taken it to a new level as well as to all your favourite locations around Bright. Hit play and let the good memories come flooding back from your last visit. We bet you will have to watch it more than once to find him. Thanks Stan for making us smile, if you want to see more lockdown adventures you will find them on Instagram @stanmeissner ... #brightandsurrounds #covidlockdownadventure See more

21.01.2022 Another lovely sunset in Porepunkah. Snow is a little scarce this winter but the sunsets have been amazing. In saying that, dont forget Dinner Plain is open, free and madly making snow for a beautiful weekend of tobogganing. If you live in regional Victoria, be grateful and make the most of your backyard. 17.01.2022 After so many months being cooped up, camping is the perfect way to shake it off. It doesn’t matter if you enjoy the outdoors in a swag, luxury caravan or something in between, it’s time to dust it off and book a site.

17.01.2022 Take 2 minutes to escape with us So great to see our towns buzzing again, people getting out and about on their new bikes, walking along the rivers and exploring our National Parks. We wanted to share our postcard of The Cathedral on Mount Buffalo as its one of the most beautiful places in the world. This rock formation gives a feeling of peace and stillness. Enjoy!

13.01.2022 We have had a stunning weekend. Nice to see so many Melbournians out and about, enjoying a well-earned break from their homes. This week, Stan was up early to take us trail running up into the hills surrounding Bright. If this doesn’t make you want to run, nothing will! Fun fact; did you know the pine plantations in Bright and Surrounds are active. We are so grateful the land owners, HVP allow us to use their roads to create adventures like this. In order to keep ever...yone safe when entering the working plantation HVP ask any users to complete an application for a ‘Human Power Pass’, which is valid for two years. It only takes 4 minutes and gives you the knowledge you need to enter the plantations safely. https://www.hvp.com.au//community-events/human-power-pass/ Don’t forget to join us next Monday at 7pm to see what Stan gets up to this week. #stansweeklyadventures #brightandsurrounds @stanmeissner

11.01.2022 Do you have memories as a kid, flying through the air on a toboggan? That feeling that you launched so high off that last bump you near touched the trees. Now you can do it all again on the longest toboggan run in Australia at Dinner Plain. Image thanks to @_free_spirit_photography_, taken earlier this year.

11.01.2022 Lock down is tough, especially for our many friends and family in Melbourne with Stage 4 restrictions. To brighten your day we wanted to introduce Stan, one of our locals that is tackling regional lock downs with optimism and enthusiasm. Everyday Stan sets himself a COVID lockdown adventure. Some days he is out and about in our beautiful region, other days he is finding adventures in his own back yard (like urban caving under his house). Keep an eye out every Wednesday as we post one of his videos from the week or follow him on Instagram @stanmeissner to see them all. Today we are stepping back a few days, to Day one of the COVID lockdown adventures, to let Stan introduce himself....

11.01.2022 This week Stan spends his day with a couple of mates who live, work and play on bikes. Time to explore one of the best ‘gravel rides’ in the region, up Mount Porepunkah. Never heard of ‘gravel riding’? Watch and be inspired. Beyond gravel riding, Stan also took advantage of an invitation to learn about a fire management tool not widely known about. This is the final episode before Stan takes off on a massive adventure beyond our region. Don’t worry, he’ll be back with ...more local fun in May. #stansweeklyadventures #brightandsurrounds To keep up with Stan’s adventure in Tasmania, follow him on Instagram @stanmeissner See more
