25.01.2022 Remembrance Day! Remembrance Day (sometimes known informally as Poppy Day owing to the tradition of the remembrance poppy) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. Following a tradition inaugurated by King George V in 1919, the day is also marked by war remembrances in many non-Commonwealth countries. Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November ...in most countries to recall the end of hostilities of First World War on that date in 1918. Hostilities formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month", in accordance with the armistice signed by representatives of Germany and the Entente between 5:12 and 5:20 that morning. ("At the 11th hour" refers to the passing of the 11th hour, or 11:00 am.) The First World War officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on 28 June 1919 - https://www.awm.gov.au/commemora/remembrance-day/traditions Today throughout our Service we showed our respect as we learnt about the importance of Remembrance day.

25.01.2022 R U OK? Day is our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK?. 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected. Based on that and linking to our school readiness program, we have invited the children to watch an educational video explaining the day aiming to raise their awareness and fostering their empathy for others.

23.01.2022 We Love Baking to Celebrate Birthdays. Our Tigers children have been very busy baking cup cakes to celebrate their friends Birthdays. Our children enjoy getting to choose what flavor cupcakes they would like, and once they have finished cooking love being able to decorate their own with coloured icing and sprinkles. Having a positive sense of identity and experiencing respectful, responsive relationships strengthens children's interest and skills in being and becoming active contributors to their world. ‘’Belonging, Being and Becoming, The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia, 2009, Page 25

18.01.2022 What is Daffodil Day? The Daffodil Day Appeal is Cancer Council’s most iconic and much-loved fundraising campaign. It is a day for Australians to come together and donate to help stop cancer. This year, the Daffodil Day Appeal aims to raise more than $2 million for life-saving cancer research, but will look a little different this year.... Australians will donate a daffodil to raise funds for life-saving cancer research in August. The Daffodil Day Appeal culminates on Friday 28 August 2020. Sadly, with nearly 150,000 Australians diagnosed with cancer every year, most people have been touched by cancer. That’s why we need everyone to donate a daffodil or fundraiser your own way for the Daffodil Day Appeal. If you would like to donate please go to: https://www.daffodilday.com.au/donate

04.01.2022 Today as a service we raised awareness for Red Nose Day. Our children and educators were invited to wear something red and throughout the day our educators set up many experiences involving the colour red. Our Pre school room learnt more about the reasoning behind why Red Nose day is such an important day. What Is Red Nose Day?... In Australia, nine children still die suddenly and unexpectedly every day. That’s more than 3,000 babies, toddlers and preschoolers every year more than double the national road toll. We are still losing them to stillbirth, SIDS, and fatal sleeping accidents. So while incredible gains have been made to reduce sudden infant deaths since the first Red Nose Day in 1988, the fight must continue. And we still need your help. Be a Red Nose Hero: Your support on Red Nose Day helps save little lives and to us that makes you a Hero.Australian families need your help join us and together we can help stop little lives being cut short. You can find more information about red nose day or how you can be involved by following the link below: https://donate.rednose.org.au/donate/rednoseday

03.01.2022 Today our Pandas children continued to explore their interest in space that was inspired from science week last week. The children have been having many discussions with their lead educator and today asked if they could create their very own "Moon Rocks". Together they collected all the ingredients they thought they would need and placed them in a bowl until they created the right consistency. During this experience the children built on their mathematics language and knowled...ge as they poured out each ingredient. Element 1.1.2 Child-Centred Each child’s current knowledge, strengths, ideas, culture, abilities and interests are the foundation of the program.

They did wonderful by sharing things that make them experience different emotions and strategies to deal with it. "I feel sad when someone snatches my toys" - Naveen "I'm not... scared of anything" - Nixon "I feel happy when someone hugs me" - Zahra "I feel sad when someone hits me" - Maisie 'I feel happy when my friends share their toys" - James As an extension, we invited them to draw "How does your heart feel today?". We've got beautiful art pieces mostly with happy smiles and colours. " When children see us expressing our emotions, they can learn that their own feelings are natural and permissible, it can expressed, and can be talked about. Thats an important thing for a child to learn" Fred Rogers
