Yes, it's plastic and here's why: Being an industrial designer myself, I have learned a lot about materials. I have specifically selected PET plastic for several reasons: 1. PET is completely recyclable and is the most recycled plastic worldwide (it can be easily identified by the #1 in the triangular "chasing arrows" code). 2. PET is food-grade material (same as water bottles) and therefore safe for packaging baby products. We also put the printing on the outside of the box, to keep the product safe. 3. It is easier to see the product through the transparent box without the need to take it out. Cardboard boxes with transparent windows are not completely recyclable, so that was out of the question. I am a big fan of recycling (I have lived in Europe before, and recycling is huge there). Most people mistakenly think that all cardboard boxes are recyclable, but unfortunately, this isn't right. In majority, cardboard/paper boxes have a plastic film (lamination) to protect the box & the print, but this makes them non-recyclable and end up in the landfill. See more
