17.01.2022 Update // IPADS Telstra heard our call out for iPads during our inaugural Giving Day campaign and answered the call. Telstra donated three iPads to Brighter Lives, all iPads have been allocated, one to the Mental Health Service Group. ... Ann Marie Mallett, Mental Health Service Group Director said it was a donation that will make a difference to ongoing programs. The Ipad will be allocated to the Adolescent Inpatient Unit and Day Service (AUIDS). It will be used within the Child and Young Adult Service Program and will be invaluable in assisting with psychological testing, saving both time and resources. "We can’t thank Brighter Lives and Telstra enough for the donation, we feel as though Christmas really did come to our department, Ann Marie said. 17.01.2022 Brighter Lives hosted our Inaugural Giving Day, yesterday, Thursday 19 November. In a first for an NQ charity, we aimed to raise $70,000 in one day of giving. The campaign featured Hope Manser, 5 years old, who was born at TUH and receives ongoing treatment here in Townsville. As of this Monday 23 November, we have raised over $91, 379!!!! We smashed our target of $70,000 just before 3pm yesterday. We can't thank our community enough! Keep following us for updates on projects we fund throughout the Townsville Hospital and Health Services.

15.01.2022 GIVING // Answering the call Telstra heard our call out for iPads during our inaugural Giving Day campaign and answered the call. 2020 certainly has been a trying year, but even more so for our patients that are disconnected from their loved ones. ... Brighter Lives CEO, Tanya Busoli said being in hospital is never a good time, especially when loved ones can’t visit. Being surrounded by loved ones in a time of need has been made even more difficult this year. Tanya said iPads will help raise patients' spirits while they are at the Townsville University Hospital, especially as Christmas is just around the corner. 12.01.2022 Act of kindness // Townsville Police deliver gifts to sick kids On Wednesday the 23rd of December, officers from the Townsville Station including Constable ‘Kate the Koala’ attended the Townsville University Hospital, spreading some Christmas joy and delivering the gifts to sick children located at the TUH’s Children’s Ward. There were many smiling faces and warmed hearts during the Christmas delivery. Over the past few months, Acting Sergeant Jodie Petersen has coordinated a... children’s Toy Drive internally within the Townsville Police District, collecting donations from staff from across the district. This culminated in over seventy gifts being prepared by the Townsville District Police for donation. Acting Sergeant Petersen said she only wanted to brighten the Christmas Day of Townsville’s sick children. This year (2020) has been a tough one for many Australians who may have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and at times throughout the year confined to their homes. But for these sick children at the hospital home with their families is the only place they wanted to be, I wanted to bring them some joy and to try and distract them from the medical situations both them and their families found themselves in over this festive season. It was extremely heartwarming to see so many of our Police District’s staff get involved in the drive and donate for such a good cause. 11.01.2022 Christmas Spirit bags Our Townsville community is simply amazing. Katie from Life Of Laughter and her team of volunteers, have been busy little elves making 100 Christmas Spirit bags for the elderly and long term patients at the Townsville University Hospital. The bags include fun games, cards, lollies, Christmas badges, word search magazines, bon bons and so much more, and they have all been donated by generous local businesses.... Member for Mundingburra, Les Walker MP - Mundingburra, heard about the project and donated soaps, luffas and Christmas hats for the bags. Katie Yarrow from Life Of Laughter has been overwhelmed with the support. We have been so overwhelmed with the support from our community, it started with us hoping we could make this possible and now thanks to Les and so many others we have delivered 100 full bags. No better way to bring joy, happiness and Christmas spirit to someone healing. 05.01.2022 Tomorrow at willows - the space opposite Daiso and nextdoor to Milk Espresso - donate brand new items for the CP4K community initiative by Townsville Family Life Care Packs 4 Kids are activity packs given to the littlest members of our community when they find themselves at Townsville University Hospital. Repost: A way of helping ease an uneasy and often scary situation for children and their parents.... We rely on the generosity of our community who donate BRAND NEW items for inclusion, including: pencils crayons books colour in books and small toys. You can bring yours along to this event, to help us put smiles on some little local faces. You will find us creating packs, along with our volunteers, in the space opposite Daiso and nextdoor to Milk Espresso.
