16.01.2022 Our club completed another very productive and enjoyable weekend, 1st 3rd April, at Camp Getaway (our Club’s 11th annual visit there). We enjoyed a meal at Axedale Pub on Friday night. With 11 club members, family and friends present we completed a long list of tasks. We also enjoyed plenty of fellowship plus Linn’s cooking (ably assisted by Di, Glenda & Wendy). Phil enjoyed his 1st vist to the camp and former club member Alan Thomas made a return visit. ABOUT CAMP GETAWAY... Camp Getaway caters for those of all abilities and mobility, provides a meeting place for support groups, and offers those who need it most. A peaceful sanctuary. Whilst disability and related support groups have priority for booking dates, Camp Getaway welcomes bookings from family groups, church groups, clubs, special functions, business meetings, and recreational groups. All enquiries are welcome. Located in Axedale in Victoria (15 minutes from Bendigo), the former youth camp has received a tremendous makeover in recent years - thousands of voluntary hours have already gone into redeveloping the site to create self contained units with full disabled facilities and two modern dormitories. Camp Getaway is the result of concerted fundraising by a number of Rotary clubs across Victoria. The donations and physical efforts of these Clubs have been invaluable. Camp Getaway is a continuing project of the combined Rotary Clubs of District 9800. http://www.campgetaway.com.au

13.01.2022 Rotary Club of Brighton Beach coming together to fundraise for Urban Lifesavers. Ordinary people can be urban lifesavers for someone in cardiac arrest by applying an automated External Defibrillator (AED). Minutes matter to save the life of someone having a sudden cardiac arrest. Urban Lifesavers are ordinary people who know how to use a defibrillator. Anyone can learn how to use an automated external defibrillator to save a life. Urban Lifesavers has been established to raise awareness about cardiac arrest and the importance of bystanders taking action to save a victim's life by applying a defibrillator without fear or hesitation. Urban Lifesavers is a not for profit organisation supported by Defib First. http://www.urbanlifesavers.org.au

11.01.2022 Rotary Club Brighton Beach members showed their support for International Women’s Day 9 RCBB members, partners & friends attending the Women in Rotary Breakfast on Thursday 10th March at the Crown Palladium. It was again an excellent and well run event, with some 1200+ people present and $50,000+ raised for the nominated charities. Congratulations to Kerry Kornhauser from Rotary Club of Albert Park and her team. VISION OF 'WOMEN IN ROTARY' Creating and supporting a dynamic Rotary culture where men and women work together to expand and build on existing strengths with the benefits of diversity to improve the lives of individuals and communities in a way consistent with the Rotary International Strategic Plan.

03.01.2022 Importance of Defibrillators in our community

01.01.2022 Club members braved the cold weather & assisted the RC’s of Hampton & Sandringham at the Farmer’s Market held on 19th March on Trey Bit Reserve, Jetty Rd, Sandringham. We also managed to raised some funds for club projects. The market is held on the 3rd Saturday of each month. 'HOW PROCEEDS MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OTHERS' Rotary volunteers make a difference in the local community and around the world. Cumulatively, that entry fee or the egg and bacon roll add up to enough money to buy swags for the homeless or provide sanitation for a village in the third world.
