19.01.2022 Jackpot Tuesday and Friday Tournaments At our AGM, the membership accepted that our Social Tournaments on Tuesday and Friday would be increased to $10/session, from Tuesday 18th August. The Jackpot Social prizes will be run in addition to the normal 1 and 2 game prizes prizes and would be run as follows: The jackpot commencement amount is set for $60 and each Tuesday or Friday where the jackpot has not been reached, the prize money will increase by $30 until $510 is reached, ...which would be the maximum jackpot amount. A book would be kept by the Tournament Managers so that each session would be recorded with the dollar value and the winners if any so that the next Manager knows what the jackpot amount is set for that day. If the jackpot is won on one tournament, then the pot would revert to the minimum amount of $60 for the next tournament. To win the jackpot, the random number generator would be set between 1-50. If a team received the combined 1st and second game score equal to the displayed number on the generator, then they will win the jackpot amount. If more than one team wins, then the amount is shared between the winning teams. There is a maximum of 2 teams who can share the jackpot. If more than 2 teams have the jackpot number, then there will be no prize awarded and the jackpot will increase by $30. See more

18.01.2022 Come and support our most popular sponsor, THE ESPY HOTEL ! We have had a long association with the hotel who are one of our most generous sponsors. With their Montys Rewards membership card, you are entitled to a 5% discount off of your drinks and meals. This discount is also collated by the Espy and then an equal amount is refunded to the Brighton Bowling Club once a quarter. Over the years this amount has been quite substantial.... If you do not have a card, please see Richard Hyde at the Club to complete the application form. If you havent been to the hotel recently, give it a go, things have changed. Not only can the Montys reward card be used at the Espy, it can be used at any Woolworths hotel. Have a look at their website before you go out next time. See more

18.01.2022 I hope that you are all keeping well despite the Cabin Fever that we are all suffering. Bowls SA have directed that all clubs review their constitution, as they have been directed by the Equal Opportunities Commission to remove gender from constitutions. The Board of Management has been working hard to update our constitution accordingly. The 2 Vice President positions are recommended to become Vice President Club and Vice President Bowls Director. We were also asked to ch...ange the term for Board members to 2 years, to provide improved continuity with only half of the members retiring at any one time, this has been included. We have also reviewed other changes that needed to be updated. Once the pandemic situation starts to return to normal, we wish to have a Special General meeting just prior to our Annual General meeting to endorse the constitution updates. I will be posting all information out to you all once we have a date for the AGM/SGM, this will include a full explanation of each change. If there are any queries, please dot hesitate to contact me or any other Board member for a clarification. I will try to keep you informed of anything that is happening at the Club. 06.01.2022 You may be aware that Brighton had 4 players from Ascot Park playing for us last Saturday. We were a few players short and Ascot Park approached us as they had spare players. The Chair of Selectors is going to formalize this arrangement this week, IF IT IS GOING TO CONTINUE. HOWEVER BE ASSURED Brighton players will be SELECTED FIRST BEFORE ANY ASCOT PARK PLAYERS ARE SELECTED. One difficulty we will have is that when we post teams on the Internet on Monday IF we use Ascot P...ark players in Div 7 West, we will not know their names. So you will see ASCOT PARK 1, ASCOT PARK 2 etc until we have the names and this could be as late as Friday each week. I trust you will understand the significance of trying to get everyone a game, thanks to Bev again for ringing around everyone last week. Barry Coad

04.01.2022 TRAINING - WHO NEEDS IT. As you are all probably aware the training sessions on Thurs and Fri have not been successful in terms of the numbers attending. Coaches have tried several strategies to address this issue.... At a meeting of Sat Div 1 and Div 4 sides yesterday it was decided to change our dedicated Fri training session to 10AM. The aim of this session is get SAT teams especially together for the session ie practice together and play together (where possible). This does NOT stop any other practice you may do but attempts to get more players on the green practicing TOGETHER. Hopefully this change will see more players on the green and to clarify ALL players are welcome to this timeslot. Post meeting it was decided to meet at 0945 to allocate who plays who and be on the green by 1000. Cheers Barry Coad
