17.01.2022 Each year since 1945 The Children’s Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of read...ing. You will often see parades with students dressed as their favourite book character. Book week provides new experiences, awareness building about the world outside home; improves communication, building greater vocabulary, speech patterns and enunciation; improved concentration, story time providing an ideal incentive to build concentration; and a lifetime love of books! This week Brighton Family Day Care organised a book parade to celebrate book week, the children had a fun time dressing up and reading stories. Thanks to Tim Sproule for allowing us to hold this event at his gym. See more

Lyn and her day care children were in attendance of the flag raising ceremony this morning at tagari lia and felt very honored to be asked to help with the raising of the flag.

01.01.2022 Brighton Family Day Care organised a Scheme excursion to one of our Educators care environments to explore their hobby farm. It was a beautiful day for children to engage in numerous learning opportunities that promoted sustainability, socialisation skills and extending their knowledge of the natural environment. Throughout the visit to the Hobby farm, Educators and the children fed leftover bread, that had been donated by community members, to the goats, ducks and chickens. ...The highlight of the excursion was meeting Geoffrey, an eight week old goat, where children had an opportunity to hand feed him some milk via a bottle. Entering the chicken coop, the children also had an opportunity to feel the warmth and texture of a freshly laid egg as they helped to collect the daily supply of eggs. We endeavour to continue providing opportunities to promote children's learning, while extending on their current knowledge, by planning future excursions around sustainable practices.
