13.01.2022 THESE 2020 COMMEMORATIVE COINS ARE A MEMORABLE TRIBUTE TO THOSE WHO SERVED This year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. To commemorate this important milestone, as well as Anzac Day 2020, the Royal Australian Mint has released two limited-edition collectible coins, as well as a new circulating $2 coin. This year, Australians will observe Anzac Day without many of its traditional ceremonies. While we deal with the challenges of COVID-19, we should r...eflect on the sacrifices made by generations before us. The beautiful $2 collectible and circulating coin features the dove of peace and colours representing the three Australian forces that served from 1939 to 1945. The $5 Silver Proof Coin displays a woman releasing doves, representing peace, and origami cranes: a reference to the Children's Peace Monument in Hiroshima, Japan. These coin designs represent the triumph of peace over war, and solemnly commemorates those who fell during the Second World War. These coins can be purchased from the Royal Australian Mint’s eShop or by calling the Mint’s Sales Team on 1300 652 020. The 2020 $2 ‘C’ Mintmark Coloured Uncirculated coin is available for $15 and the 2020 $5 Fine Silver Proof Coin for $102.50.

11.01.2022 The DVA’s new number 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372) will become DVA’s primary access number for veterans and their families. This change is part of DVA’s Veteran Centric Reform Program which includes improvements to their telephone channel to make it easier for veterans and their families to speak to the right person at the first point of contact. You will start to see 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372) rather than the previous general enquiry number 1800 555 254 in their publications ...and correspondence and on their website and other online portals. This is a gradual process and 1800 555 254 and 133 254 will remain active for some time yet until 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372) is well embedded. Some other external-facing numbers will remain for specific needs, including the transport bookings and Veteran Home Care. Phone numbers for other non-DVA services will stay the same. For example, the current phone numbers for Open Arms and the Veterans' Review Board, will stay the same.

07.01.2022 April Newsletter

07.01.2022 This year was like no other, no dawn vigils to attend, all marches, memorial services and reunions being cancelled. For many families within the Brighton Green Ponds area a different kind of dawn service took place. To respect, honor and remember those who fought, served and continue to serve for our freedom, our rights, and our country, families and individuals stood together at the end of their driveways or on their balcony's to observe a minute of silence. Even though thi...s may have been an informal way to pay our respects and whether you wear the medals of a family member the emotions for many were still there as it still gave many the opportunity to reflect on the many different meanings each and every person holds about war. THE ODE ‘They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.’ LEST WE FORGET If you have any photos from your driveway or balcony vigil please feel free to share on this post.

06.01.2022 The Health and Safety of all our members as well as their families and the surrounding community has been at the forefront of our minds over the past several weeks, with this in mind and the road map to recovery from COVID-19 which was released earlier in the week, the RSL would not consider opening the bar until July 13th. If you or a family member require any added support during this time please feel free to contact our Welfare Support Officers: Mark Weeks: 0427 382 572... Ken Clark: 0400 079 255 See more
