22.01.2022 What's not right with this recycle bin? Our crew discovered why the bin hadn't been emptied by the truck when they opened it up. If plastic can be ‘scrunched’ it must NOT go in your kerbside recycling bin. Why? Any kind of soft plastic gets jammed in the sorting machines and gets mixed up with paper, causing contamination. Instead? Drop soft plastic in the REDCycle recycling bins at Coles and Woolworths. And definitely no food waste or green waste in recycling please.

15.01.2022 Enough is enough. The United Nations General Assembly has designated 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence; furthermore, one of the aims of the day is to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden. The four Greater Hobart Mayors stand together with one voice to say enough is enough when it comes to violence against women.

09.01.2022 Overhanging Trees - it's time to trim your foliage! Everything is growing so well this spring season, it’s a good time to take stock and do some trimming in your garden where needed. Many people use our footpaths, nature strips and walking trails. To ensure that everyone can safely use these unhindered, here is a bit of a guide: Footpaths a clear height of 2.5 metres; No foliage encroaching onto footpaths at ground level; Road ways a clear height of 6 metres.... All foliage and vegetation should be cut back to boundary fences to ensure there are no trees or foliage that may cause injury to person or property. Let’s make sure everyone can freely enjoy using our public spaces during this beautiful spring weather that is bringing us a little bit of rain along the way.

02.01.2022 Tasmania is moving towards an easing of border restrictions on October 26. With this in mind, now is the best time to check in with yourself and others in your ...household that you’re doing all that you can to stay ‘COVID-safe.’ Practise COVID-safe behaviours such as regular hand washing and sanitising, physical distancing, staying at home when sick, covering coughs and sneezes and getting tested when symptoms are present. Every measure we take now will help us keep on top of COVID. This will be important when the movement of people in and out of our state increases. Remember, you can stay up to date with the latest COVID-19 info via this website: www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au
