24.01.2022 Did you know that it’s Fire Permit Season? Any landowners (STATEWIDE) wanting to burn off, must contact the Tasmanian Fire Service to obtain a permit. More information is below (including the contact number to call):... http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show?pageId=colNonPermit

24.01.2022 It doesn’t matter if you were a volunteer or career fire fighter (any agency). Once a fire fighter, always a fire fighter.

22.01.2022 Just in time for Xmas.

22.01.2022 Halloween has already been, but this would be the best Halloween costume for a pet. Either that, or he wants to get a job within the emergency services.

19.01.2022 Campfire restrictions in national parks and reserves declared Restrictions on campfires, pot fires, and other solid fuel stoves will come in to place from Frida...y 4th December at identified Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) campgrounds around the State to help reduce the risk of bushfires. These restrictions are important to help protect visitors and the community. Despite the recent rain, there is still considerable fire risk in the north-west and on the eastern side of Tasmania with no significant forecasted rain in the Bureau of Meteorology extended outlook. Spring pasture growth is significant in a number of areas and as the grass cures the areas assessed as currently having normal fire potential are likely to change. In the current dry conditions, campfires can easily escape, spread rapidly, are difficult to control, and threaten people in campgrounds and nearby communities. The seasonal campfire restrictions apply to national parks and reserves in the following areas: King, Flinders and Maria Islands, between West Point and Interview River in the north-west, Dorset, Break O’Day, Glamorgan/Spring Bay, Sorell and Tasman municipalities, Narawntapu National Park, Snaky Creek and Tooms Lake Conservation Areas. Refer to the attached map. Further areas may be added if the fire risk in those areas escalates during summer. Gas stoves and gas barbecues will be permitted. Last year there were 110 reports of unattended or illegal campfires on PWS managed land with 140 fire offences recorded - this was a 50% increase in reports from the previous year. Restrictions have also been imposed on the use of pot fires as sparks, embers, and disposal of ash from pot fires can also provide an ignition source. The PWS wants to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable camping experience and appreciate assistance from the community in complying with fire restrictions. 18.01.2022 Make the right choice. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility.

17.01.2022 Well worth the read regardless of where you’re living in the state.

15.01.2022 Different location and different uniform. Same job - helping them public. Hoping our colleagues in the Thin Blue Line in the U.S make a speedy recovery and that the culprit quickly gets caught.

14.01.2022 Thank you to all the wonderful family’s and business that have donated to our new look Christmas with Santa at the Fire Station and lollie lucky dip giveaway . We have been very busy with lots of helpers to get these all ready. We thank you all.

14.01.2022 This was the situation when I turned up today at Broadmarsh Brigade for a meeting. It is just as well it wasn't a callout as it took over 30 minutes to get enou...gh cars moved to be able to get the trucks out. If you are having an event at Broadmarsh hall can you please ensure that this situation is not repeated again. The brigade gets callouts at anytime of day and year. We also respond to car crashes, car fires, structure fires as well as vegetation fires We also assist other brigades in the district with thier callouts There is no time when cars should be parked there because you think that there won't be a fire today

14.01.2022 With us now being in spring, our bush fire season isn’t too far away. Below are some handy links for people to start preparing their properties: http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show?pageId=colNearBySaferPlaces... http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show

11.01.2022 I’m thinking maybe the brigade should invest in a gaming PC and get this game for simulation and training purposes.

11.01.2022 Still quite relevant for residents of the greater Brighton, Bridgewater, Honeywood, Broadmarsh, Baghdad and Midlands district. Nay, all bushfire prone areas in the state.

11.01.2022 Worthwhile for property owners to take into account.

10.01.2022 Please, just take the time to do the right thing. Much better to get home alive than not at all!

08.01.2022 All members of your family are important.

07.01.2022 Ahh. The uneducated.

05.01.2022 Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management Mark Shelton - Constable Elmar Van Breda will operate from the Cradle Mountain gateway precinct to undertake ...general duties including public safety, crime, traffic policing and emergency management. This appointment will have a significant impact on public safety and emergency management through increased police presence in this busy yet remote location. Prior to COVID-19, Cradle Mountain was one of Tasmania’s most visited attractions by visitors to our state and we don’t expect this to be any different once travellers are able to tour our regions again. Tasmanians now holidaying at home due to COVID-19 has seen an increase in popularity of the location, meaning the importance of a permanent police presence is higher than ever. The trial ran from January until March this year, with Tasmania Police receiving positive feedback and results from both key stakeholders and members of the public. The initiative has been made possible through the continued support and collaboration with the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Services.

04.01.2022 A reminder that any burning off/hazard reductions must be declared and registered. Regardless of private property or not. No permit? No lighting!

02.01.2022 HAPPY SPRING! | Ring in the new season (literally) by testing your smoke alarm is working! The first day of a new season is the perfect reminder to test your s...moke alarms and give them a vacuum! Working smoke alarms help save lives and the risk of a fatality in a home fire is halved if there is a working smoke alarm in a residential dwelling.

01.01.2022 Hopefully our colleagues up in St Helens can contain things quickly!
