23.01.2022 Year 11 Probationary Prefects met with Year 5 boys last week as a part of their leadership program. On both sides of New Street, these are the boys who will be leaders of the Junior School and Secondary School in 2021. The Year 11s spoke about their leadership journey and hopefully inspired and encouraged the Year 5s to think about the day they too will be whole school leaders. #OneCampus #Classof2021 #Classof2027

23.01.2022 Rounding off NAIDOC Week, renown singer and songwriter Uncle Kutcha Edwards visited the school again on Friday, this time bringing his message to our Year 9 boys via a virtual presentation and musical performance. #NAIDOCWeek

20.01.2022 Introducing our 2020 DUX of School: Jaikob Akinci! Jaikob achieved a perfect ATAR score of 99.95, one of only 38 students to do so in Victoria. At BGS since Prep, Jaikob has involved himself in all aspects of school life including sport, music and service, and became a Prefect and School Vice-Captain this year.... I sat at my computer in the morning refreshing the page every second, and when I finally clicked through to the ATAR it happened so suddenly that I took a few moments to take it all in! 13.01.2022 Junior School boys were treated to another session of Skype a Scientist. Yesterday, Heather Handley Associate Professor of Volcanology and Geochemistry Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences Macquarie University (Sydney) spoke to the Year 4 boys about volcanos. She answered lots of questions and the boys enjoyed seeing photos and videos she took while scaling the perimeter of erupting volcanoes. She even had to duck to avoid 'lava bombs'! #SkypeaScientist

11.01.2022 We’re proud to announce that we’ve been named an Innovative Schools 2020 winner by The Educator for our bio-dash program in partnership with the Melbourne Graduate School of Education. Using biofeedback, the program was developed to create mindfulness and stress-management strategies using a game based code. The award follows an Innovative Schools 2018 award and serves as a reminder that innovation isn’t a destination, but a journey. 10.01.2022 Making, testing and refining boomerangs has long been a part of Creative Design and Technology. Back in the woodwork room, Year 7 boys have decorated their boomerangs with artwork that tells the story of a personal milestone event inspired by indigenous artwork that the boys have been researching. Now for the final test flight on the Oval!

09.01.2022 Prep Teacher and BGS Old Boy Mr Paul Strain was reading ‘The Gingerbread Man’ to his class when he gasped at the inside cover. To his own surprise, the last person who borrowed the book (or at least using the antiquated borrowing slip), was his own Year 1 Teacher, Ms Templeton, who read the book to him in 1992!
