Focus more on how much you are eating! Focus more on having a balanced lifestyle by knowing your personal nutrition requirements and enjoying the foods you love to eat, not restricting the foods you love! What's your thoughts on this topic?

25.01.2022 FINAL Chance... Now's your time... - https://mailchi.mp//yayyy-its-here-again-are-you-ready-489

22.01.2022 If you're somewhat interested or know anyone with Parkinsons, you may learn some things here. Description taken from FoundMyFitness! "New podcast today! We had to pause our expert interview series for a little while there, but we're BACK. And this episode is a good one.... Today's episode is with Dr. Giselle Petzinger, a board-certified neurologist at the University of Southern California, specializing in the care of patients with Parkinson’s disease. One of the big take-homes from this episode is that a diagnosis with Parkinson's disease, devastating though it may be, is not the end of the story. This episode explores in exhaustive detail the power of exercise and deliberate effortful practice of the neurocognitive skills that grant us the ability to achieve movement through space. Tango, boxing, tai chi, yoga, golf - these are all just a handful of examples that may help because they exploit frontostriatal neuroplasticity to restore some of the automaticity of movement that is lost to Parkinson's patients. These effects may even be somewhat separate from the neurotrophic factors released with high-intensity aerobic exercise, which has been shown to have a profound impact on Parkinson's disease, as well. For example, some of the work coming out of Dr. Petzinger's lab showed that eight weeks of intensive treadmill training three times per week can increase the expression of dopamine receptors in the basal ganglia by 80 to 90 percent in Parkinson's disease patients. Another six-month-long study showed patients performing high-intensity exercise showed no disease progression, while non-exercisers experienced a 15% worsening of their motor symptoms. This is huge because no medications used to treat Parkinson's disease have been shown to actually slow disease progression. Exercise alone is still not a cure for Parkinson's disease, though. Dr. Petzinger is quick to point out that there may be cases when avoiding medication is counter-productive. While today's interview is primarily focused on the effects of exercise in Parkinson's disease, we cover a lot of ground, ranging from a discussion of the environmental causes and genetic origins of the disease to dietary management of its symptoms, with a special focus on DHA, a type of omega-3 fatty acid that may be beneficial not only in the prevention of the loss of dopamine-producing neurons but also in preventing the dyskinesias associated with levodopa, the dopamine-replacement drug. One final note before we jump into the interview, if you or a loved one has Parkinson's disease - this episode is not intended as medical advice and is not a substitute for professional medical treatment or care. If you need medical advice, seek it out. This new episode is on YouTube and major podcast players. Get our show notes, timeline & transcript on the episode page linked here."

19.01.2022 "" -!!! Starts Sunday 31/10/2021 and ends 11.59pm Saturday 6/11/21 Rules are simple:... 1: Tag YOUR name in the comments section below! At the end of each day, reply to your own comment with how many kilometres or steps you covered in that day. If you cannot find your name in the comments, make sure that you have selected the tab that says "all comments" instead of "most relevant" on the post. I'll do an example myself so you know what I mean, then just do what I do each NEW day. The distances can be tracked in most modern phones and most phones actually do it automatically without any extra apps, it may just mean you will have to carry your phone with you for 7 days to get you moving more... Let me know if you need help finding an app suitable for you if you want. Once we finish the challenge, we will be plotting the distances covered on a map and showing just how far we can walk around SA or Australia as a team. So let's get trekking, cycling, running, swimming or crawling and clock up those kms. This can be tracked individually and also on your team activities. Extra Rules: 1. Be honest! 2. Interact & engage in the challenge and with others! 3. Enjoy the extra exercise and steps! 4. To gain points towards your 6 week challenge tally, must complete all 7 days. Set an alarm if you are likely to forget to come back each day and log your results. Any questions, concerns or feedback, please let me know... Thank You Glen

15.01.2022 Starts SUNDAY 24/10/2021 and ends 11.59pm Saturday 30/10/2021 Rules are simple:... 1: Tag YOUR name in the comments section below! 2. No sugary drinks or fruit juice allowed for the week. Tea, coffee, beer, wine or spirits (any alcohol) does not count towards your daily water intake and to get the best from this 7 day challenge, limit them as much as you can and focus on getting used to drinking more water separate to those other drinks! 3. You can track how much WATER a few ways like via a notepad, by taking pictures or the MyFitness Pal app. As long as you submit your tally at the end of each day below by commenting, you will be in the running to complete this mini challenge. 4. If using the app, download the app called MyFitnessPal (MFP) from your app store. Previous challengers, you may already have it installed. 5. Set up your (MFP) account if you haven't already and start logging your water for the day. 6. Everyone participating, at the end of every day post the amount of WATER you had during that day in the "reply" section under your name. If you cannot find your name in the comments, make sure that you have selected the tab that says "all comments" instead of "most relevant" on the post. If you do it as a reply to your own comment, we will be able to track your week, if you don't reply to your own comment, we will lose track of your weekly tally. I'll do an example myself so you know what I mean, then just do what I do each NEW day. There's no "right" or "wrong" for the exact amount of WATER... The general recommended daily minimum of water is roughly 33mls per kg of bodyweight. This figure does not take into consideration if you are exercising and sweating out water. If you are no-where near your recommended amount, don't aim to hit it straight away, build up slowly from where you already are. Extra Rules: 1. Be honest! 2. Interact & engage in the challenge and with others! 3. Enjoy the extra exercise from the steps going to pee if you aren't used to drinking water. It's ok, it's flushing everything through which can be a good thing. 4. To gain points towards your 6 week challenge tally, must complete all 7 days. Set an alarm or calendar reminder if you are likely to forget to come back each night and log your intake. Any questions, concerns or feedback, please let me know...
