25.01.2022 In today's Familiar Faces we check in with the Rec's Centre Manager Tash Mandic, to see how lockdown has been treating her. And she has some exciting news to share too.... A new skill I have learnt isthermomix cooking! I have been cooking up loads of different recipes that I wouldn’t normally make. Each Sunday my husband and I make a big feast and enjoy a lovely three course meal together. The best day in lockdown I have had so far isfinding out that I was pregnant,... and that we are having a baby boy which is due in February. We have had time to plan the nursery and get the house ready for when the little one arrives which has been great fun. Something I would not normally do but have been doing a lot of....mindfulness colouring. I purchased some art supplies and have been busy colouring in to help me relax in my down time .

22.01.2022 She's been a familiar face of the Rec for many years and I am sure you are all missing seeing Gail's welcoming smile each week. Today we check in to see what Gail has been up to over the past few months. What have you missed most during isolation? Catching up with friends and going out for dinner.... What are you most looking forward to when you return to BRC? Getting back to work to have some form of routine as well as seeing all the regular clients and kids everywhere. How have you kept active during iso? I have kept active mostly through gardening and walking. Luckily the weather has been pretty good! What have you been watching on TV through lockdown? Anyone who knows me knows I love Reality TV so I have been binging on all of my fav reality shows - all the Housewives and Below Deck to name a few! What's something new you have learnt? I have been quite busy in the kitchen making bread which I had never made before. I was quite proud of my results even if I say do myself!

12.01.2022 Today we say hello to Kate, our AMAZING Gymnastics Coordinator. While some of you have the pleasure of seeing her on zoom classes each week, heres what else has been keeping her busy during lockdown. I am keeping active by participating in our Brighton Rec zoom sessions, walking with the kids and work outs in the shed (although probably not enough of the latter) I am missingcatching up with friends and being able to leave the city to explore the great outdoors.... Three words that describe homeschooling are challenging, repetitive, unmotivated (the kids not me!) When the borders re-open Ill be visitingFar North Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef and then an adventure type trip to Nepal with the family once we can travel internationally. I am most looking forward to all the kids having fun on the equipment in the gym again!

09.01.2022 Brighton Rec Centre will be open between 8.00am-6.00pm Monday to Friday and closed on Saturday and Sundays throughout January, 2021. Our regular hours including weekends will resume from Thursday 28th January, 2021.

09.01.2022 Given we have recently moved to Stage 4 restrictions, Brighton Recreational Centre will remain closed and unattended until at least September 13, 2020. We will continue to run FREE Gymnastics classes via Zoom throughout the remainder of Term 3, however all other programs including Childcare will not be able to continue. 05.01.2022 Today we say hello to Rose, our WONDERFUL Kindergym Coordinator. While our pre-school gymnasts have had the pleasure of seeing her on zoom classes each Tuesday, here's what else she has been up to during lockdown. Lockdown is.a bit boring, mildly relaxing but also very expensive - I have never online shopped so much in my life! The best day in lockdown I have had so far isgoing to my first socially distanced picnic with my friend at the park. It was so nice to be out...side and see her in person! Something I would not normally do but have been doing a lot of is..listening to podcasts and going for long walks. The first place I would visit outside of my 5km radius is. Mildura to visit my best friend. I haven’t seen her since March, and it’s the longest I’ve ever gone without seeing her. What I have missed most during lockdown..WORK! I love seeing the gorgeous, happy faces of all the children I coach, especially my Gymstar squad girls.

04.01.2022 Today we catch up with our fabulous Childcare Coordinator Trudy to see what she's been up to during lockdown. The best day in lockdown so far was.....teaching a group of friends on Zoom how to make ricotta gnocchi and having a few laughs at the results. A new skill I have learnt is.....how to make Keto desserts! ... Something I would not normally do.....I rescued a retired greyhound. It has been an incredible experience and the time in lockdown has given me the opportunity to settle him into his new home. Thankfully, it won't be too much longer until we can see Trudy face-to-face when we re-open our childcare centre from October 5.

02.01.2022 Shes the first face you see when you come into the Rec and she is certainly missing seeing all your faces today we chat with Ruth and her boisterous 6 year old son, Sully and see how lockdown is going for them. While Sully says his happiest memory during this time has been playing with his PS4, Ruth admits that although its not hers, it has been a godsend! Heres more of what theyve been up to: We are keeping active by lots of walks, going to the park, going to... the running track and on days when it wasnt so good, lots of rollerblading up and down the driveway. Weve been watchingthe tearjerker After Life (Ruth) and Netflix series Simon (Sully). The first place well go when lockdown is overliterally anywhere! But we look forward to heading to Phillip Island for a little holiday. Ruth is most looking forward toseeing people! I miss everyone at Brighton Rec so much. Sully is most looking forward to playing with my friends, playing table tennis and doing gymnastics.
