25.01.2022 Updated 23/3/2020 We now have 22 cases in our beautiful state including 1 in the local area. All cases to date have been linked to overseas travel but we should be upping our game and not become complacent. We will increasingly be using Telehealth so that patients can continue to access GP care whilst reducing the risks to you, your family, our staff and the wider community. This also means that for the small number of patients whom we will still need to care for face to face..., the risks are lower by having fewer patients in the building and optimising social distancing. We will be offering all patients a telehealth consult for future bookings. We may be contacting you to change your current appointment to a telehealth appoitnment. All patients eligible for a Covid19 Telehealth rebate will be bulk billed. Ineligible patients will be asked to pay a $50 private consult fee - taken over the phone with no medicare rebate at this time. Please help us, to help you, by lobbying our Federal MP Brian Mitchell to allow us to access medicare rebates for telehealth for all patients. It would help us if in preparation for Telehealth you downloaded and set up the SKYPE app on your mobile phone. If you have a family member or friend who is less tech savvy then please can you do this on their phone for them. Please make a note of your Skype username as we will use this to contact you. When you ring for an appointment please let reception know your Skype username and we will record this in your notes for future use. Patients with no high risk symptoms who need a face to face assessment will be invited to attend the clinic. An allocated appointment time will be given. On attending the clinic please only enter the building at your appointment time. Please use alcogel on your hands on entering the clinic. Please limit the number of extra people attending the appointment with you. You will notice lines marked on the floor relating to social distancing - we would appreciate your help in abiding with these. Blood tests or Phlebotomy, if these are routine annual tests please consider postponing these at this time. We may ask you to wait in your car if there are several other people also waiting to reduce the number of patients in our waiting area at any one time. Scripts - these can be accessed either via a telehealth consult or online script request via HotDoc. Chronic Disease - We will be continuing to provide chronic disease care via telehealth with our Nurses and your regular GP. Telehealth with specialists - we would encourage you to do this from home on your own device at this time. Please practice social distancing and avoid un-necessary trips out.

25.01.2022 Phones were down, now they are back up - sorry for the inconvenience.

24.01.2022 We are delighted to announce a familiar face is joining the team. Dr Anand Pemmulu has been practising medicine for 30 years and has 26 years experience as a GP. He migrated to Tasmania with his wife Gomathy in 2012 and has worked in the Brighton area ever since. He has a special interest in Dermatology and Skin Cancer medicine and holds a Masters in practical dermatology with distinction - MSc (Derm). In addition to providing a skin medicine service he also enjoys providing... chronic disease care and the full range of General Practice. He is currently taking a little personal leave and will be coming on board in the next few weeks. Dr Lumsden and Dr Burbury are looking forward to working together with Dr Pemmulu again. If you are keen to transfer your care please come in and register in advance so we can request a summary of your notes and a medication history.

24.01.2022 It's the Queen's Birthday this weekend. We will be closed on Monday 8th June and reopen as normal on Tuesday the 9th of June. 23.01.2022 Some good news and some bad news. Good news - all our regular patients are now eligible to access Telehealth under Medicare. We will be asking you to book a telehealth appointment instead of face to face and offering face to face appointments only where clinically necessary. We will also be offering chronic disease support over Telehealth. Whilst phone is good, being able to see our patients is even better so we are encouraging everyone to download and set up skype on their ...phone or other compatible device. Bad news - we left the end of last week with 44 cases in Tasmania, we are now up to 66 patients. Whilst the majority of these were already in isolation having returned from overseas or a cruise ship there has been a case of a healthworker in the NorthWest of the state. The first Tasmanian death has just been announced. Flu vaccines - we are still waiting to hear from the Department of Health. We would encourage any of our patients who are over 65 especially to wait for the government stock as we will have the vaccines specifically designed to get a better immune response in this age group. Social distancing. We were disappointed to see whole family groups out at Coles over the weekend. Please only go out if your trip is essential and practice social distancing.

23.01.2022 What is social distancing and why is it important? Social distancing includes ways to stop or slow the spread of infectious diseases. It means less contact between you and other people. Social distancing is important because COVID-19 is most likely to spread from person-to-person through:... direct close contact with a person while they are infectious or in the 24 hours before their symptoms appeared close contact with a person with a confirmed infection who coughs or sneezes, or touching objects or surfaces (such as door handles or tables) contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection, and then touching your mouth or face. So, the more space between you and others, the harder it is for the virus to spread. What can I do? If you are sick, stay away from others that is the most important thing you can do. You should also practise good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene: wash your hands frequently with soap and water, before and after eating, and after going to the toilet cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues, and use alcohol-based hand sanitiser, and avoid contact with others (stay more than 1.5 metres from people). As well as these, you can start a range of social distancing and low cost hygiene actions now. https://youtu.be/sICXqvupZJE

04.01.2022 There are now 36 cases in Tasmania. To date all cases in Tasmania have been linked to international travel and/or cruise ships. There is community spread in NSW and QLD and starting in VIC and SA. We are told the testing criteria may change in coming days. We are moving to providing services via Telehealth wherever possible and limiting the number of patients who need to attend for face to face to reduce the risk to you, your family, our team and the wider community. You can... book telehealth appointments via HotDoc. Whilst telephone is always an option, phone Consults without video are very limiting. GPs can make a much better and safer assessment via Telehealth. We are providing telehealth via Skype. The Telehealth criteria are due to change on Monday so that all patients are eligible under Medicare. Please check in with your parents and grandparents, make sure they have an email address and a device that they can use for a Skype meeting. Please get Skype setup and logged in - please make a note of the Skype username as we will need it. It might be helpful for you to have a trial Skype meeting with your relatives to get them familiar and confident with the technology. Please assist them to learn how use HotDoc for booking Telehealth and Phone Consults and show them how to order repeat prescriptions. Please do this now, it will be too late once the community is in lockdown. Please wash your hands, avoid un-neccesary trips out, practice effective social distancing and wash your hands again.
