25.01.2022 Hi everyone! Thank you so much for those who have already put their hand up to volunteer for the first few weeks back. Please can everyone check their "Virtual Volunteer" app. There has been a recent update and it is important that everyone has the most up-to-date version. You will know if you have the correct version because it will ask for the Event QR Code and your athlete barcode. We are still looking for a photographer for 28th November. For 5th December, we need a timekeeper, finish tokens another marshall and a photographer. Comment below if you can help on these dates or any further events. 14 days to go everyone!

25.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone, We are still chasing a few volunteer roles for tomorrow, Barcode Scanner, Marshal and a Photographer. We also need pacers for 22, 27 and 34 minutes. Please shoot your hand up if you can help out with any of these roles.... See you all in the morning, looks like it is going to be a cracker of a day.

24.01.2022 Here is a improved version on my explanation of international womens day March 7th 2020 parkrun research tells us that women are much less likely to participate in parkrun, and parkrun is taking steps to change that. As part of these efforts parkrun is organising a global female-focused parkrun celebration on Saturday 7 March 2020, the day before International Womens Day (IWD). We would love for our parkrun community to join parkruns worldwide in a celebration of female par...ticipation on this day. To mark the occasion we are encouraging existing parkrunners to bring along a female friend, family member or a work colleague, especially one who has never been to parkrun before. If you wish you may also dress in purple (parkrun's chosen colour for the day, and the official colour of IWD). See more

22.01.2022 Ladies to the front this Saturday for International Womens Day Parkrun! Everyone please feel free to wear something purple (tutus are very welcome- female or male!) and bring a female friend along if you can!

21.01.2022 Hi everyone! We are so excited to be back on 28 November! This means we need lots of lovely volunteers for 28 November, 5 December and beyond. We will also need plenty of barcode scanners to keep the finish area clear. Just comment on this post with your preferred role and date and we will get you added on. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

20.01.2022 Preparation time park runners!! TOP TIP #01 November 28th is excitingly close and with hand hygiene and social distancing something we are all being asked to be responsible for, it time to add to your little parkrun kit of laminated barcodes, drink bottles and other paraphernalia with some HAND SANITISER. parkrun volunteers will be supplied sanitiser from our event kit. However to ensure we are not fostering people grouping together to get to sanitiser points we ask you to bring your own and sanitise as you arrive.

20.01.2022 Congratulations to the 11 (not)parkrunners who recorded a time last week! Results can be found on the Brightwater parkrun website!Congratulations to the 11 (not)parkrunners who recorded a time last week! Results can be found on the Brightwater parkrun website!

20.01.2022 Hello Brightwater parkrunners, The weather looks like it will improve for Saturday which is great. We still need a few volunteer roles filled, specifically we need a Barcode Scanner, Marshal and a Photographer. If you can help out with any of those please let us know.... Furthermore it is the 3rd Saturday of the month and we all know that means - pacer week. We will need the following times filled - 22, 25, 27, 30, 32 and 34 minute. Pacing is a great way to get a fellow parkrunner through to a new goal, really rewarding. So again if you can help out, please let us know.

20.01.2022 An old Irish tradition is for women to propose marriage on the 29 February in a leap Year. While women are definitely capable of asking a man for his hand in marriage on any day of the year that she so wishes, traditionally in Ireland, this right was reserved specifically for the Leap Year. It just so happens this Saturday will be the 29th February and it wouldn't be Brightwater parkrun if we're not to sometimes have fun playing along with traditions. Ladies if you are look...ing for a venue to propose the question to your man this leap year here is a perfect chance for a woman to take matters into her own hands and get down on one knee. Just let us know (send a private message) and we can give you some time at our briefing. Aside of that the opportunity for a big proposal, the opportunity to run at a parkrun on a Saturday 29th of February will not come for another 28 years, so you should turn out and mark a milestone that only comes around a few times in a lifetime. This week we are looking for a barcode scanner and a token sorter. If you can assist please send a message. Thanks in advance!!

20.01.2022 Have you heard of (not)parkrun? You simply do your 5k run and log your time on your parkrun profile as a (not)parkrun. It can be any 5k course at any time! Last week, I happen to know that both Kawana parkrun and Mudjimba Beach parkrun had more parkrunners log their times than we did so let's log our runs this week and see how many we can get! FAQs are here: https://support.parkrun.com//360009843618--not-parkrun-FAQs Or comment on this post and we will try and help out! Bes...t of luck! Katy and Robert :)

18.01.2022 HERE IT IS!! As part of our requirement to reopen parkrun in Queensland, each event will be required to display a unique QR code for contact tracing purposes. We ask that all participants, volunteers and spectators scan the code and sign in each week. Please scan in using the below QR code. There will be QR code’s on display around the event but we ask if you can to do it online before or as you get to the parkrun parkrun.com/trace/4hr

17.01.2022 TOP TIP #4 The start process under covid plan is slightly different. Here's what you need to know! 1. The run brief will last for 2 minutes only (spread out - everyone is responsible for managing social distancing & keep quiet so everyone can hear). 2. Everyone will be then instructed to move to the start. 3. The start area will be much larger in length to encourage social distancing.... 4. Very quickly self-seed referring to the signs held by volunteers, don't cram up close and be prepared to have to run an extra 500m plus to get to the start line. 5. The run will start promptly to minimise the time participants spend in close proximity to each other. 6. It is a fun run, not a race. It will likely take you longer than normal to run the 5 (and a bit KM) but be happy that we can run again. See more

17.01.2022 1 week and 1 hour till restart TOP TIP #2 The Queensland Government requires phone numbers to be collected to assist with contact tracing. Each parkrun will therefore display a QR code each Saturday morning, at various locations at the event to assist with physical distancing. The QR code will also be available on each event’s social media channels and website so you can check in before leaving home, in your car, at or after the event. For people who do not have a smart phone, there will be an online link that people can use to check in.

16.01.2022 Good morning parkrunners and particularly junior parkrunners. It is looking like a cracking day for a early morning run, jog, walk and we need a couple of spots filled for Saturday 'kids take over day'. We need a couple of marshals who will need an adult with them. We also need a photographer and a timekeeper. The timekeeper will shadow Brian Cross to show them the ropes.... Put up your hand please if you can help out.

15.01.2022 Are you able to help out? We're short of some marshals and a token sorter for tomorrow's parkrun. If you're able to help, please reply below. Thanks!... Plus - please let us know if you are running one of your milestone runs - 50, 100, 150, 200 or even 250! And if you're a junior runner, maybe it's your 10th run. Reply below - or let the Run Director know in the morning.

15.01.2022 Hope you manage to get out for a socially distant run this weekend! Comment with your photos below! PS - Robert was looking at the camera until he heard a bunch of plovers!

13.01.2022 28 years until you can run another parkrun on Sat 29 February!!

12.01.2022 Happy World Running Day!!!

12.01.2022 We are still looking for a barcode scanner and a token sorter for this weekend. If you can assist please send a message below or email [email protected]

11.01.2022 MILESTONES! We will be keeping our pre-race briefing short and sweet for a little while which means unfortunately we won't be able to call out our parkrun milestones each week. Instead, please comment below (or message us) if you or a friend is running a milestone and you might find your name in lights (or maybe just chalk) come Saturday morning! ... Not long to go now!

11.01.2022 Hello lovely Brightwater parkrunners - we have a quick question - what do you love about Brightwater parkrun? If you could spare us a few words below we'd love to hear or use the 'send message' feature to message us ;) oh... and have a fab Tuesday!

11.01.2022 A massive congratulations to all of our magic milestoners who chose our celebration of International Women's Day to complete their wonderful achievements. Rod, Nons and Craig - your enthusiasm, commitment and energy for parkrun is inspirational! Nice work and well done! And Barb - well, what can we say... the bells and whistles were delivered in spades! You bring such joy to us all - well done on the 50! We're lucky to have you at our parkrun. Such a generous gift for you to...o... A big thank you to all of our volunteers today! Lastly, congrats to Ingrid Peacock who has used parkrun to inspire and help her to successfully enlist with the military. I think you start on Wednesday - good luck with that! Hope to see you back soon. Thank you for your kind words about parkrun this a.m. See you all next week.

10.01.2022 Getting closer TOP TIP #5 Finish tokens should be given out at the end of the funnel.... Volunteer Scanners will be spaced-out and sufficiently far away from the finish funnel such that queues do not build up and social distancing can be maintained. The number (around one per 50 finishers) of scanner volunteers will be significantly increased such that the finish area can be cleared as soon as possible. The parkrun Virtual Volunteer application is to be used by the volunteers Scanning of finish tokens and personal barcodes must be entirely contactless and at a distance, with participants holding their own position and personal barcodes, then depositing their position token in a receptacle (as seen in picture) the scanner volunteers have after they have been scanned. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU RETURN YOUR FINISH TOKEN. We need to reuse these (after cleaning) each week to continue our event

10.01.2022 Does it feel like its been 28 years since we have been able to parkrun, not just feb 29?

10.01.2022 What a great morning this morning for 269 parkrunners + 21 volunteers. We had participants from the UK, Brisbane (Warner Lakes, Wishart) and of course a lot of our regulars. As well, we had 34 first timers - including 21 who were new to parkrun altogether - welcome and well done! We hope to see you again next week. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers: Jennine, Renee, Brendon, Gareth, Julie, Sharon, Melissa, Kees, Rina, Alan, Denzil, Hardy, Hayley, Tracy, Julie, Steve, La...uren, Mark, Dan, Brian and Kate Congratulations to Gary Holland completing his 150th parkrun (well, technically 151st) and to father and son, Jason and Thomas Parsons running their 50th parkrun together. Thank you for bringing the cake which was devoured and enjoyed by some hungry parkrunners! Photos are up! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and see you all next week

07.01.2022 Big day tomorrow. Don't forget your barcode.

07.01.2022 This week 187 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 20 were first timers and 23 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 22 different clubs took part. Those that participated enjoyed the rain free opportunity to run on the 29th February (the chance to do that again is 28 years away). Unfortunately there were no parkrun wedding proposals. However this allowed us more time to celebrate the milestones of Dee (150), Sill (100) & Yvonne (50). Congratulations t...o you all. We are very blessed to have the help of all the volunteers week in week out. We had a terrific crew on this week cheering and supporting everyone. Another great start to the weekend and we will hope to see everyone next week. Dont forget its international Womens Day next week and we are really encouraging all the women to come along and all regular park runners to invite women to come along especially those that have never been to parkrun before. parkrun have selected the theme colour purple for this day. Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Brightwater parkrun Results Page.
