09.01.2022 I inherited a series of Fairydown tents, personal tents, tents shared with clients on Aconcagua, special Everest single skin tent, mountain tents that both Jon ...and I helped design with our feedback on use in the field. Well, the snowfield. Never mind the bivouac sacks. Urgh. I don’t want to think about sitting up on the side of a mountain teeth shattering night after teeth shattering night in an Entrant ( type of goretex waterproof, breathable nylon) double bivouac bag, two small mouth holes for air, no sleeping bag, huddling and if not freezing to death, a shiver then in all that cold thin air surrounding us. This tent here had been retired fin favour of a newer model rebuilt from the susmentionned feedback. I dug it out last year, spruced it up and gave it to my brother Lhakpa from Lura. I wonder if he uses it. Not now, for sure, no job with COVID everywhere... but thank God for community, farming land and farming skills, Lura is looking after its people. Mostly. See more

09.01.2022 Enjoying unkinking the body at Mount Arapiles. Training? Nepal might be months away, but the joy of being in the bush and at one with the rocks, the birds, flowers, lifting mist and the breath can be had here and now!

08.01.2022 This girl always surprises me. She comes up with the right message each time. I just have to stop, and listen, and I am reminded of exactly what I need to remember. https://www.patreon.com/posts/38586524

08.01.2022 The packs on a training walk! Lou and I are going to walk along the Glenelg later in the month. Preparation and slowly remembering what works and does not work..., what needs to be carried and what can be left at home is an exciting process. As is getting into the swing of walking with a big pack on again! See more
