21.01.2022 The team at BFB are taking some much deserved time out to spend with their families from 12pm Friday 18th December. We hope that all of our clients are also able to take some time out at this special time of the year. We will see you again from Monday 11th January. Thank you so very much for all of your support - 2020 has been an interesting year and to be completely honest - we're exhausted..........we need to recharge the batteries and we look forward to bouncing back into... 2021! We have one hope for all of our clients this Christmas - fun, laughter and happiness with your nearest and dearest. Take care and Merry Christmas. Mel and The BFB Team

20.01.2022 It’s international accountants day today! On the 10th November 1494, Venetian mathematician Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli published his book describing double entry accounting. We love a good debit and credit

18.01.2022 BFB STATE OF THE NATION We recently offered our clients a free jobkeeper assessment to see if they could access the extension until the end of March. Here is a snapshot of 77 different businesses located here on the Sunshine Coast from micro traders, through to $10million+ turnover businesses. There are hairdressers, builders, manufacturers, professional services, medical practices plus a myriad of others.... Here is what we found: 55 businesses don’t qualify. Majority of these have had significant growth some boasting 1000-1500% growth - WOW! 22 businesses did qualify which means they’ve seen more than a 30% drop in turnover. Cashflow is tight, despite the ongoing stimulus support. So on the one hand, more than 2/3rds of our clients are experiencing unprecedented growth, fueled by cashed up southerners, cashed up stimulus recipients (other business owners in a great financial position) and changing/adapting to market trends and seizing opportunities quickly. This is the GOOD news story for the coast. But we still have 1/3rd of our businesses struggling to recover from the pandemic despite the fact we haven’t had hard lockdowns on the coast for months. These clients have diverse challenges including international border closures, access to stock, impact on travel restrictions and finding staff to resource their business. They're keeping their head above water, but are relying on a much stronger year in 2021 to get through. It’s an interesting snapshot and I think holds true based on a lot of conversations we’ve been having lately with our clients and other businesses. It will be interesting to see what those same 77 businesses look like this time next yearwhat have you been hearing out and about while you’re talking to other business owners?

14.01.2022 Merry Christmas to the amazing BFB team. I’m so incredibly proud of the team we are........together we have achieved so much epicness (new word for 2020). These guys are the reason I get up everyday to be the best I can be at BFB.........I have their backs and I know they’ve got mine.........especially during the challenging times. I may not lead in a conventional way, but then again we don’t have a conventional office and as I always say, life’s too short to be shit!!! You guys are seriously amazing and deserve every happiness this Christmas. See you for 2021..........it will be epicness 2.1

10.01.2022 See you later 2020, hello 2021!! The BFB team had a great break and are back in the office and ready to rock and roll this epic year! We have some fresh faces too and I can’t wait for you to meet them. We've also had a flurry of new client enquiries - THANK YOU for referring BFB - we love helping business owners and feel incredibly privileged that you trust us and recommend us. Like most entrepreneurs and business owners, the festive break is an opportunity to switch off fro...m the day-to-day grind, which then allows the great ideas and innovation to flow I hope some of you were able to tap into this so you’re laser-focused on your business and personal goals for the year. Some owners I know even like to give their goals/year a theme with some power words. Some that I’ve seen are simplify, amplify, family, peace, expansion, abundance. Drop us a power word in the comments below! I gave it a go myself, just to try something a bit different. For me personally, its LOVE. For BFB, its EASE. And for our BFB clients (because yes, you are at the heart of any planning I do) it’s ABUNDANCE. We are so incredibly lucky to live on the Sunshine Coast -there are so many opportunities out there for all of you and I truly hope there is abundance in all aspects of your life for 2021 family, love, wealth, health and fun. Can’t wait to catch up with you soon. Mel and the BFB Team

08.01.2022 YOUR BUSINESS, YOUR RULES! I jumped on a webinar today for accountants while the kids were having a swim and one of the theme’s was playing by your own rules what I mean by that is designing your business around your life, not the other way around. Ummm yeah ok, do these people live in the real world of small business? I always start out strong I map out the strategy, the goals and the how and of course the numbers. Usually by mid-February, the inbox is full, the phones... are screaming and we’re hurtling towards deadlines throw in a few team issues and client complaints yep, that strategy was great in theory but not for the real world and I’m back on the tools and putting out fires to keep the exterior as smooth as possible for our clients. Sound familiar? I hope so otherwise this will be an embarrassing post! So while I was on this webinar, I thought to myself, what will I do differently to stay on track? I have to stay the course I have some pretty big family commitments this year which will mean I can’t be in the office as much as I have been. I’m laser focused about how my business needs to work FOR me this year (remember I always start out strong) so how will I keep this focus when the shit hits the fan because we know it will, that’s business right!? This year, my energy is channeled into OUTCOMES and ACCOUNTABILITY. I’ll post more about what outcomes and accountability mean to me another time. But for now, I thought I would share what I will do differently to stay the course. The past two Sunday evenings, I’ve set the outcomes for the upcoming week and I get this out to the team so they know what is expected from them (more on that another time but majority of your team want leadership and someone to steer the ship so they know which island their heading for some will jump ship, some will be thrown overboard, but those on the same mission as you will get you to the island destination I like to think somewhere beautiful in the Caribbean!!) If I can stick to this OUTCOME setting every Sunday night, I’m 100% confident I will be able to work poolside with the kids more often in my Mum role whilst also delivering great outcomes for our clients this year! I’ve also put up bullet proof boundaries around my homelife by setting strict hours e.g. I'm only working for 1 hour and then the laptop is going off when I’m not working I’m NOT working. That has been really challenging and I think will be the most difficult to keep up when the going gets tough.will keep you updated but feel free to share any tips you have on this! What are you going to do differently this year?
