02.01.2022 Brindabella Family Practice encourages you to download COVIDSafe. COVIDSafe is a mobile app designed to keep Australians safe and healthy by tracking cases of COVID-19 within our community and, ultimately, helping to reduce virus spread. The COVIDsafe app helps state and territory health officials to quickly contact people who may have been exposed to COVID-19. The app speeds up the current manual process of finding people who have been in close contact with someone with CO...VID-19. This means you’ll be contacted more quickly if you are at risk. This reduces the chances of you passing on the virus to your family, friends and other people in the community. How does COVIDSafe work? COVIDsafe is voluntary to download from the App store on iPhones, and through Google Play on Androids. The COVIDsafe app should be open, bluetooth switched on and running on your phone when coming into contact with others. The app will create a ‘digital handshake’ if you come within 1.5 metres of another person who has the COVIDSafe app for longer than 15 minutes. The information is securely encrypted and stored within the app on your phone. The collected information is not accessible by anyone until a person is diagnosed with COVID-19 and they consent to uploading the contact information to a highly secure information storage system. COVIDsafe does not track where you are or what you are doing. Once the pandemic is over, or if you decide to delete the app, COVIDsafe along with all of the information collected by and stored within the app will be deleted permanently. To download the COVIDSafe App, please visit https://www.health.gov.au/reso/apps-and-tools/covidsafe-app
