25.01.2022 Don't forget your smiles Lyneham ELC, the second and final day of ELC School Photos are on tomorrow (Thursday 24 September).
25.01.2022 Thank you Tim for your efforts. It was a long day, you were amazing, and the recording sounds great.
25.01.2022 The Science week began with a bang of colours. Students got to enjoy the brilliance of colours emitted by humble elements like copper, calcium, potassium, sodium The colour changing magic of indicators was another fun demonstration and the finale with the magic beakers made the day all the more memorable as it got students wondering about the magic of simple acid base and redox reactions.
22.01.2022 The Year 4’s have been making their own packaging for a Science Assignment. They have designed and constructed packaging for a single biscuit so that it could potentially travel via the post and arrive unbroken and dry at its destination. We have yet to test these amazing packages I wonder if the biscuit will survive?
20.01.2022 Welcome Back Kindergarten and Year 1! Lots of happy faces working hard and excited to be back with friends.
19.01.2022 Almost 200 of our students from Year 2 to 12 competed in the AMC (Australian Mathematics competition) on 30th July 2020. The AMC is run by the Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT). It is one of the largest annual events on the Australian education calendar and is one of the largest of its type in the world. More than 30 countries participate each year. Students are provoked to think creatively by the engaging problems that demonstrate the importance and relevance of Mathematics in their everyday lives. Lots of enthusiastic discussions were heard afterwards around the school about the competition problems.
19.01.2022 The College was awash with yellow today, the students are wearing yellow accessories to promote RUOK? Day. RUOK? Day is an annual event highlighting the importance of supporting each other through life’s ups and downs. We acknowledged RUOK? Day with posters, balloons and banners, as well as class and school activities emphasising the importance of empathy and listening. One highlight was the Staff versus Student volleyball match and the Brindafella and Brindabelle choirs sing...ing acapella around the school at the Café Deck, Front Reception and Junior School Hub. Students also had an opportunity to nominate friends, peers or teachers who have been a star and a comfort to them. We enjoy days like today when we can affirm, as a community, the importance of staying connected and supporting those around us. This has been especially important this year as we’ve experienced COVID-19, but it’s important for us every day as we try to love one another as Jesus has loved us. See more
19.01.2022 It was wonderful to see our Year 8, 9 and 10 students out in the sunshine enjoying their 'Camp' experience. Although they weren't able to get out of Canberra due to COVID-19 restrictions, they've still been able to have lots of fun. Some student comments from the first day included: -The devotions were thoughtful. -The hike was fun to be with friends out of the classroom. -Bowling was awesome. -Steve from Youthworks was cool (read: I had a good day doing the Youthworks progra...m). -Running around the school solving puzzles was fun! -Mrs Kinnane has so much Lego! Stay tuned for more photos!

16.01.2022 To increase our knowledge and awareness about oral health, we reviewed and share our ideas about the story of "Dr. Rabbit meets Brushalotamus" It is very important to the children for them to understand the importance of good oral hygiene. The ELC Composite Class engaged in learning experiences that reinforced our knowledge about poor and good nutrition. Our pretend play of a dental shop motivated us to discover and explore a deeper understanding of the about oral health.
16.01.2022 The Kindy classes have been looking at those who make our school community special and the importance of recognising their work and thanking people for the job they do. Everyone chose someone and wrote a thank you card to them. This included the library staff, crossing supervisor, student reception staff, café staff and different teachers. Then we delivered their encouragement cards.
16.01.2022 The Year 7s used their understanding of levers and built catapults for Science. The mini competition was intense, almost as intense as a Masterchef top 8, to see who could launch a marshmallow the furthest. With the "The Final Countdown" playing in the last few minutes, teams frantically glued and taped their catapults together, in hope that their machines would win them some sugar. Alas, after a few knockout rounds, the final champion emerged; thankfully with sticky fingers and rain-soaked confectionery as the only casualties.
14.01.2022 Play is simply what makes our world of learning. The PK2 children are empowered to make their own choices in developing their confidence and extending their literacy, numeracy, fine and gross motor skills etc. through the open-ended play experiences offered every day. Letter blocks, coloured cubes, magnetic shapes, colourful painting plates and the outdoor play equipment motivate the children to think, to create and to build positive relationships with each other. New words, new 3D structures, new friends and new visual art masterpieces are some of the endless creations that we can make out of learning through play.

14.01.2022 P3 have spent some time learning about the solar system, through-out this they have taken the time to learn about each of the planets gain interesting facts about each one as we went. From this a great interest developed in the size of the planets in comparison to each other and we decided to create each planet as we went through out the week. Each planet is made using a wide range of different materials that allows us to explore different ideas and skills.

08.01.2022 The ELC celebrated Miracles Day. As part of our commitment to quality Christ centered Education, we partnered with CBM - an international Christian development organisation to raise money for the people living in poverty to experience the gift of sight. To raise awareness the children wore orange, and the educators based their learning experiences around this colour and the theme of sight. In the Pre-kindergarten classroom, we learned that the very foundation of this gift is created by God our Creator and found in Jesus Christ alone. We created and designed our very own glasses as a visual aid to this learning. "One thing I do know: I was blind, and now I see." John 9:25
08.01.2022 The STEM incursion began with Major David McEvoy and his team discussing the great opportunities that army offers. The flexibility of jobs and the chances for career development available in the army is wonderful. Once this was done, the students were offered a chance to try out the 4 helicopter flight simulators with the Virtual Reality goggles. This was truly an immersive experience for the students. They struggled in the beginning. However with patient guidance from the tea...m, they were able to improve their control and Year 9’s got a chance to feel the thrill of flying, crashing, twirling, somersaulting and eventually landing safely. All of this from the safety of the SPACE foyer. It was a great experience and all students had a fantastic time and we hope that this would pave the way for more students to see that jobs in STEM can be quite the adventure. See more

03.01.2022 We kicked off day 1 of the Musical days with the recording of the audio tracks. We had a blast, and the students sound amazing.
01.01.2022 This week marked an important milestone in our Year 12 student’s progress with the ACT Scaling Tests (AST) being held over Tuesday and Wednesday. The AST scores of those students who complete a T package provide the basis for scaling course scores for students at the colleges they attend. A student's scaled course scores are then used in the calculation of that student's ATAR. Hence, the students have been preparing for these important tests for the last 18 months with regula...r training sessions and practices examinations with both Mrs. McMaster and Mr. Jones. The tests went off without a hitch and the students attitude and application to the tests was outstanding. They were also very thankful to the sacrifices made by others in the College to ensure they had a comfortable and quiet venue to complete this important series of examinations. Many thanks to all involved and we look forward to receiving the results later in the year. See more
