25.01.2022 "Thank you so much. Do I get to keep this? Wow" "I can finally put some different clothes on. I have had these on for 4days. YESSS!! I now have my own toothbrush" These were the very first words that came out of a childs mouth this week. With toys and books and all kind of exciting things in front of him, this young worthy child first got excited about the very things we take for granted. ... It is heartbreaking, But together we are changing this!!! I cannot thank everyone enough for the generosity, love, & support that has been shown. It is so beautiful to see so many people jumping on board so that we can make a difference in these children's lives. Thank You for being willing to be their village. Thank You for appreciating their worth. Thank You for bringing hope. It has been a busy couple weeks with suitcase deliveries and preparing for our NT delivery, along with another 24 suitcases which will be going out to an agency in the next wk. I had such an incredibly generous offer this wk which could not have come at a better time. Something I needed so much but didnt want to have to, nor did I know who to ask. ....Some space to store our suitcases & items...and in walking distance. I could have cried. I believe we cross paths with people for a reason. A massive thank you to @mopphair @thejadeleeder @soquewarehouseapartments Along with all the other amazing individuals and workplaces out there contributing .

24.01.2022 I hope everyone had a wonderful Xmas. As the year 2020 is nearing the end, I wanted to say a huge thank you to each and every individual, community groups, and organisations whom have supported 'Hope In A Suitcase Australia' this year. Also, Thank you for seeing these children's worth and sharing in my passion to ensure that they know they are loved, worthy, and there is hope. I would also like to thank my amazing co-ordinaters that have made it possible to grow beyond NSW. ...You are all doing an incredible job and making an invaluable difference in all those children's live's. I cannot express how grateful I am. The NICU team at The John Hunter Children's Hospital have once again been truly amazing in their commitment in ensuring every baby that is discharged into out-of-home-care receives one of our suitcases. NO child is ever too young to learn of the worth they are born with & to know they are Loved. It is also so promising and beautiful to see many of the DCJ offices getting on board so that we can plant these seeds right from the very beginning. A little video to recap some (defijutely not all) of the love & generosity that has come in. And the seeds of self-worth, love, & hope that have been planted out in our community. Because of YOU it was made possible #everychildmatters #WeAreTheVillage #hopeinasuitcaseaustralia #becauseofyouwecan #togetherwecanmakeithappen #bringhope #seedsofselfworth HNEkidshealth Commonwealth Bank Dept of Communities and Justice NSW - safer together

24.01.2022 WOW!!!!! I was lost for words when I saw the final results of @mopphair #HOPEFORXMAS2020. They set a goal of 50 suitcases (which in itself is phenomenal) BUT they ended up with 70 suitcases and 32 backpacks, so a total of 102. It is pretty incredible to think that just one generous initiative of a local business will enable a seed of Self-worth, Love, & Hope to he planted in 102 children's live's. To think we need that many suitcases is heartbreaking but to know we are able t...o make a difference in the reality of this world is heart warming. I DREAM OF THE DAY THAT EVERY CHILD CAN ENTER FOSTER CARE WITH A SENSE OF SELF-WORTH Thank you @mopphair You guys are all Amazing!! Thank you to everyone that jumped on board and shared the love by donating to #HOPEFORXMAS2020 Mopp Hair

24.01.2022 Thank You TMH Medical 1 & MAU Staff from Maitland Hospital for putting a suitcase together for a little 5yr old boy. Thankyou for helping to plant these seeds of self worth, love, & hope

24.01.2022 It is so comforting and heartwarming to know we have foster care agencies out there whom have caseworkers willing to go the extra mile to ensure children living in/ entering out-of-home care are not only safe but that they know they are loved and worthy. Thank you Wandiyali for going the extra mile to care for our precious Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander children. Today they collected 24 suitcases to have on site which will enable them to always have access to a suitcase of hope even in unexpected emergencies...... WE WILL NOT ALLOW these children to be defined by garbage bags or stripe bags any longer. Together we can make a change

23.01.2022 Every donation no matter how big or small makes a difference Remember when people come together, 'A Little' can become 'Alot'. Don't under-estimate your impact.

22.01.2022 13 years without a gift from Santa, or from anyone at that matter. (Note: due to religious reasons) Is that something we can even comprehend? My heart breaks to know that in our very own communities this is the reality that so easily goes unnoticed. Whilst we open Xmas presents there are children out there who are living in situations we can not even imagine. There are children out there who right before Xmas will have their worlds turned upside and need to enter Out-Of-Home-...Care for theor own safety and wellbeing. YES right here in Australia. These children would simply love a toothbrush to brush their teeth, or a clean pair of underwear, and a change of clothes. The very things that they have the Right to have access too. These Children need reminding that they are WORTHY, LOVED, and they too MATTER. Thank you to everyone that is making it possible to plant this seed A huge thankyou to Big W Marketown for making a young boys dreams come true. I think for his first ever present this Xmas os going to be the Best Day Ever!! #everychildmatters #outofhomecare #hopeforxmas2020 #Hopeinsuitcaseaustralia #seedsofselfworth

22.01.2022 So much love and generosity in just one family A wonderful lady by the name of Kylie and her beautiful family donated not one, not two, but NINE SUITCASES of hope and love. Thank you for opening your hearts for these worthy, loveable, capable, and hopeful children entering foster care. Together WE CAN make a change in the world. If not in the whole world, we can at least know we have made a difference in their world.... "IF NOT ME THAN WHO?" "IF NOT NOW THAN WHEN?"

22.01.2022 *update* BASSINET DONATED How amazing is our community. Thank you kimmie... A shout out to our beautiful Newcastle people.... Does anyone have a bassinet they are willing to donate? We have a mum in need and with DCJ already involved we would like to try and help before the baby leaves hospital. Yes we are here to help children entering care BUT a even better outcome would be to try prevent a new child entering foster care where possible. After all it takes a village to raise a child.

22.01.2022 Children in care deserve to feel loved and hopeful everyday. But we do like to ensure that these children over Christmas feel this that bit extra, and are able to feel the Christmas spirit and cheer just like any other child. Last year we had some amazing businesses/Allied health services provide incredible and generous support over the Xmas period. They encouraged clients to donate an item when they attended the service, and staff were so beautifully selfless and decided tha...t instead of secret Santa they would much prefer donate items to help put a suitcase together. It was absolutely heartwarming to see just how above and beyond some people go to help others. I will never forget the beautiful generous souls I met last year throughout the Christmas season. If you think your business might like to do this please dont hesitate to message for any more details. We have already had an wonderful local business jump on board who have set themselves an exciting and fantastic goal to achieve by Xmas. Mopp Hair you guys are amazing!!

21.01.2022 Together we can make a difference Together we can make a change

20.01.2022 Together we can move the mountains of shame & self doubt, fear, hopelessness, and feelings of worthlessness, and make room for self belief, self-esteem & self-worth, security, Love, courage & resilience. Thank you to incredible people that have helped our NT goal so far. Don't forget everyday is a good day to make someone smile.... We would love any donations, no matter how big or small, it all makes a difference and makes it so the suitcases of hope are made possible EVERYDAY

20.01.2022 Pop into @piggottspharmacy in Merewether this month to support 'Hope In a Suitcase' whilst also being able to grab a new book to enjoy from their book club. I think it is such a great fundraising initiative they run each month instore. Thank you for choosing us this month.

20.01.2022 It is so surreal to watch my mission unfold, to see the Love of 'Hope In a Suitcase' spread far and wide. To see my passion and dream become a reality. To see a seed grow and flourish. I am beyond grateful for the special individuals that are helping to make a difference by jumping on board my mission Hope in a Suitcase - Hervey Bay

Thank you to everyone that is coming together to be the Village for these worthy children

19.01.2022 Children dont earn their worth, they are born worthy. Worthy of love, safety, security, and hope. Worthy of a community that cares about them and acknowledges their existence. I am so glad this precious little one this morning will know right from the beginning that he is worthy and loved. We see you little one, we hear you And although you have entered this world to a rough start please know you have a community behind you that loves you, cares about you, and holds hope f...or your future. Foster children are no less worthy than any of us. #makingadifference #itsthesimplethings #fostercare #kidsincare #hopeinasuitcaseaustralia #theymatter #everychildmatters

19.01.2022 Studies have shown when children grow up and leave out-of-home-care they have an increased risk of a range of poor social, educational and health outcomes including homelessness, mental illness, unemployment, substance misuse, contact with the justice system, early parenthood and low education attainment (Campo & Commerford, 2016). BUT what if we could help change this. WHAT IF we could empower them from the moment they enter care, by showing them they are loved and worthy. ...SELF WORTH & SELF-ESTEEM is fundamental to a childs healthy development and their resilience to cope with challenges in life. IT CREATES ROOM FOR CHANGE It brings hope. Pictured is some (not all) of the love and hope delivered this week. #hopeinasuitcaseaustralia #theymatter #outofhomecare #empoweringwithselfesteem #bringinghope #togetherwecan

12.01.2022 A little sneak peak into a couple of the many suitcases that have been gifted in the last week. These children are worth more than a plastic bag, and I am so glad that we have been able to plant this seed of 'Self Worth' 'Love' & 'Hope'.

11.01.2022 'Item suggestions' For all the wonderful people out there asking what they can donate. Remember no donation is too small. If every tiny drop of water was removed from the ocean would it still be as powerful? Each single drop is just as important as the ocean itself.... #alittlebecomesalot #thesmallthings #makingadifference #togetherwecan #outofhomecare #childreninfostercarematter #hopeinasuitcaseaustralia

09.01.2022 I love when parents get their children involved. Thank you Annabel for your beautifully put together suitcase. You knew exactly what a 10yr old would need and love . Imagine the future if we could instill this kind of love, kindness, and generosity into all our children. #makingachange... #hopeinasuitcaseaustralia #HOPEFORXMAS2020 #outofhomecare #becauseallchildrenmatter #theywerebornworthy #wecanchangethis #thankful #kidshelpingkids See more

09.01.2022 Thank you to all the amazing and generous souls out there that make these deliveries possible. I am so grateful for the support & donations. I have had a beautiful response from people which will help make our recent goal achievable and a reality, to reach 20 children living in out-of-home care in remote community in the NT....

08.01.2022 Together we can ensure every child knows that regardless of their circumstances they are loved and that they belong to a family and a community that values them. Here is a snippet of some of the love and hope we have already been able to give this week. ***Remember***:... The effects of ‘hope in a suitcase’ go beyond the direct impact of the resources they provide. Its empowering and makes room for positive change within our community in a way that nothing else can. Children with a strong sense of self-worth feel competent to cope with the basic challenges of life and feel worthy of success and happiness.

08.01.2022 I NEED YOUR HELP!!! BIG GOAL TO REACH IN 3 weeks! (Minimum)... 20 school back packs (boys and girls) 20 hats 20 drink bottles 20 packs of pencils/textures 20 led pencils 20 art books/plain scrapbooks for drawing 20 handballs/tennis balls 20 pairs of summer pajamas (boys/girls, sizes from 4 to 16) 5 packs of playing cards/bingo 10 skipping ropes 10 kids bodywash Over the next 3 weeks I will be busy packing suitcases/packages to go to at least 20 worthy and absolutely loveable children living in Out-of-home-care, in an extremely remote Indigenous community in the Northern Territory. How deadly would it be if we could share the love and hope all the way to the NT, that we could impact these children's lives in a way which may empower them and give them hope for their future. If you can help by donating an item or by helping to fund purchases towards this goal, please let me know. Imagine if everyone donated just one item...put together it becomes alot.

07.01.2022 I would like to pay respect to one of our beautiful supporters who sadly passed away. Thank you Leanne for your generous heart and contributions to Hope In A Suitcase via your Speech Pathology Practice 'Communication Therapy'. Leanne had a passion for helping children and in particular she went the extra mile to ensure children living in OOHC with speech difficulties were able thrive.

04.01.2022 How exciting!!!!!! We now officially have a website thank you to the talented a generous Joshua Germon. Please have a look :)... https://hopeinasuitcase.com.au/

04.01.2022 It is so heartwarming to see the QLD community really coming together with generous hearts making donations and spreading the word to make 'Hope In A Suitcase' possible in their community. They too want to ensure children entering foster care know they are valued, loved, worthy, and that their is hope. QLD community share in our belief that these children are worth way more than a garbage bag. I am so grateful for people that share the same passion and are helping to spread ...the love and hope all over Australia. https://www.facebook.com/Hope-in-a-suitcase-South-East-Queensland-region-250169382703896/

04.01.2022 Yes thats right, this many suitcases were needed in just one week, in the hunter alone. More were also handed out with love in other regions/states. That is the reality out there in our community. We can either close our eyes to it or do somethjng about it. Self-esteem is the foundation of a child’s well-being and is their passport to resilience, success, and hope for their future. Children measure their own value by how they perceive others value them. Lets show every child ...entering foster care that THEY ARE VALUED & WORTHY. Lets help cement together a solid foundation for their future. Thank you to those that help make this possible

03.01.2022 It is HEARTBREAKING to comprehend that Nationally, 55,300 children were in out-of-home care during 201718 (approximately 1 in 100 children aged 017) The least we can do is ensure they are reminded that they are WORTHY, LOVED, CARED FOR, and that their is HOPE FOR THEIR FUTURE. Every Child Matters... Every Child Deserves A Hand To Hold. #bringinghopeinasuitcase #outofhomecare #fostercare #theyareworthy See more
