16.01.2022 Posted for Bob Trotter re Submarines Association Australia. Gday Members, On Friday last (26 June) our Patron Vice Admiral Ian MacDougall AC AFSM suffered an incident which required his immediate transport to North West Regional Hospital in Burnie in Tasmania, where he was intubated and placed in an induced coma. His condition remained unchanged during Saturday. His sons, who are Sydney based, negotiated their way through the COVID-19 restrictions throughout Saturday, and t...hey are now by their fathers side. Two members were permitted to visit the Admiral on Sunday. They report that he is in a coma but now the coma is not induced and that while he is on a ventilator, he is actually breathing on his own. They also report that the hospital staff are impressed by his fitness and his strength. I am advised that Admiral MacDougalls condition remains stable today. I ask for your thoughts and prayers for Admiral MacDougall and his family to assist him to a full recovery. Ill keep you advised of the Admirals progress. Bob Trotter National President See more

12.01.2022 On this day, at the 11th hour of the 11th month, the guns fell silent on the war to end all wars. There have been numerous conflicts since the Great War and we ask that at 11 oclock today, you stand in silent tribute to those who gave their all both overseas and at home, and to those who are still serving all over the world in the hope of restoring peace. Lest We Forget

11.01.2022 Our thoughts are with the families and friends of our fallen Argentinian submarine comrades. We held a minutes silence to honour them at our monthly meeting yesterday. They have no grave but the cruel sea, No flowers lay at their head, A rusting hulk is their tombstone, ... Afast on the ocean bed. They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old, age shall not weary them nor the years condemn, at the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them, Lest we forget. See more

09.01.2022 Are you a member of a NAA Sub Section. If not, are you aware that the NAA is not just a place to meet up with former shipmates, but is your avenue for your voice to be heard, particularly with DVA. With membership numbers dwindling and some Sub Sections closing down, the voice will soon be lost. Who will campaign for us then. Membership costs less than a carton of beer. Email me at [email protected] if you want further info.

09.01.2022 This amazing lady turns 100 on Thursday. No medications, never been in hospital and a memory that puts mine to shame. We adopted Vallerie and Ted (RIP) about 4 years ago as part of our Navy Association "Adopt a Salt" campaign. Ted was a WWII veteran. True legends.

05.01.2022 Its my very sad duty to report the crossing of the bar of our oldest member Gordon Hill on Friday. Gordon was a true gentleman who regularly attended our meetings. He joined the Navy in 1938 and had a distinguished career. He was only a few months shy of his 100th birthday. Funeral details to be advised. Rest in Peace my friend. You will be sadly missed.
