25.01.2022 This week, our club had it's largest donation of eligible cans and bottles. These cans and bottles were donated by the residents of Cloudland Apartments. A little over 4000 containers were recycled with proceeds heading to charity. Thanks to the residents of Cloudland Apartments for their contribution and thanks to the team of volunteers to made this possible, Jeff, Lloyd, Eric, Troy and Lachy.

25.01.2022 Today, 24th July 2018, saw the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellowship to Dean Winter, a Past President and founding member of the Rotary Club of Brisbane Airport. A well deserved honor.

23.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Brisbane Airport would like to thank our friends at Cloudland Apartments for their continued supporting of our containers for change charity initiative. Cloudland Apartments is our largest contributor of recyclable containers. These containers are placed in specially marked charity bins before being transported to a recycle centre for charity.

23.01.2022 Today, our club once again collected eligible recyclable containers donated to us by the wonderful managers and residents of Cloudland Apartments. These containers are recycled for charity. This is all apart of the Rotary Club of Brisbane Airports Containers 4 Charity (C4C) fundraiser.... Thanks once again to the team for helping make the collection possible, Jeff, Troy, Denis and Lachy.

22.01.2022 Great display at Aviation High Open Day!

21.01.2022 On Saturday July 11th, our club had its changeover. The changeover signifies the change of command and beginning of a new Rotary year. The changeover was held aboard the Tangalooma Jet, one of the vessels that incoming President Lachy works on. The night kicked off with fellowship and pizza followed by outgoing President Lloyd thanking his outgoing and the incoming board before inducting Lachy as President of the Rotary Club of Brisbane Airport. Following this, Lachy made hi...s first address to the club and thanked Lloyd for his dedication and commitment to the community with a badge and trophy with Lloyd's presidential year printed on them. After the handover, Lachy led a tour of the Tangalooma Jet. This behind the scenes tour, which is not offered to the public, included areas such as the galley, engine rooms and the wheelhouse. Many members were intrigued by the twin turbo Cummins V16's which power the Rolls Royce jet units. Lloyd and his team have led the club valiantly and with up most dedication and the incoming board will do the same. Thank you for your leadership Lloyd, President of the Rotary Club of Brisbane Airport 2019-2020. Best of luck to President Lachy and the incoming board of directors.

21.01.2022 Our display at the Aviation High School Open Day! Come on down to find out about Shelter Box, our Tree Planting day on 21 July and all things planes with Mike and Lloyd!

20.01.2022 A privilege to support such a great charity!

20.01.2022 A few days away and the silent auction will be up and running - this is just one of the fantastic prizes on offer!

19.01.2022 Last week, our club held its annual Melbourne Cup fundraiser. We were not sure if we would hold a Melbourne Cup event this year, but thanks to the hard work by the team led by Denis and Jeff. Thanks to their dedication, we were able to hold a lowkey event. It was held at the Brooks and Stain restaurant where due to current restrictions, we were limited to 50 people. Given how crazy 2020 has been, it was an amazing day to unwind and socialise. Everyone who attended enjoyed th...emselves and we are so grateful for their support. We ran our usual, sweeps, auction and raffle where we were able to auction and raffle off many donated prizes. We couldn’t have done this without the kind donations from businesses and members. Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this possible, everyone who attended and continue to support us and thank you to the staff of Brooks and Stain for supporting our club. Although an exact figure has not been finalised, it is estimated that $2000 was made through this event. These funds will be broken up and distributed to some of our primary recipients. The recipients will be invited to join us for a meeting where they will be presented with the funds. If you would like to know more about our club or our weekly meetings, feel free to contact us on this page or on our website.

18.01.2022 Wow. 22 bags of containers all on their way to charity. Our club is proud to have Clouland Apartments as a major donor to our Containers 4 Charity fundraiser. Thanks so much to the usual team, Jeff, Lloyd, Troy, Lachy and the Clouland community and staff for making this possible. (P.s. thanks to the Porsche owner who's car made a nice backdrop for our photos.)

A fantastic day and one that Brisbane Airport Rotary will be supporting in the future.

11.01.2022 Brisbane Airport expansion and construction

11.01.2022 Today is a very special day. One of our clubs most active members, Jeff, was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow. This is awarded to individuals who uphold the Rotary vision of community service. The Rotary Club of Brisbane Airport recognises Jeff as someone who goes above and beyond for his community. Jeff is the director of our clubs Containers 4 Charity fundraiser and so it was only fitting that he be awarded his Paul Harris Fellow, while collecting recyclable containers at Cloudland Apartments. Jeff, who was not aware he had even been nominated for the award, was very honoured and we as a club would like to thank him for all his hard work. We look forward to working with Jeff and continuing our fundraisers alongside Cloudland Apartments.

11.01.2022 Today our club took part in the Donations In Kind (DIK) organisation. DIK packs medical and educational supplies into shipping containers before sending them to regions of countries that would otherwise not be able to acquire such material. The team first loaded four vehicles with boxes of books before heading to DIK to load the books onto pallets awaiting shipping. Thanks to the team, Jeff, Lloyd, Frank, Eric, Stan and Lachy for helping out and being apart of the team which keeps DIK running.

07.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Brisbane Airport was proud induct Aviation High School as our first corporate member last week. David Munn, Principal, was presented with the Rotary emblem and membership pack by President-Elect John Lee.

06.01.2022 This week we had the Honourable Trevor Evans MP speak at our clubs breakfast meeting. Trevor Evans is the Federal Member for Brisbane and is Assistant minister for waste reduction and Environmental Management. Members were intrigued by Trevors speech as food waste and container recycling are some of our clubs top projects. We were able to gain an insight into the political side of the waste debate.... Trevors assistant, Amy, is a former employee of OzHarvest, which is one of our largest charities. OzHarvest collects what would otherwise be food waste and creates meals for those who need it. Also present at this meeting was another very special guest, Michael Rudd. Michael is the manager of Cloudland Apartments, our largest contributors of recyclable containers. Michael goes far beyond what anyone could ever expect him to do to help our club. He organised special charity recycle bins at Cloudland Apartments and then takes time to help us sort out the recycling. For his generosity, Michael was awarded a certificate of appreciation by President Lachy on behalf of the club. We also awarded one to the residence of Cloudland Apartments for their ongoing support. Thank you to Michael and to the residence of Cloudland and we look forward to continuing our Containers 4 Charity (C4C) fundraiser. On Monday, a team collected the recycling from Cloudland Apartments with help from Michael. We have now collected more than 50,000 recyclable containers from Cloudland. This is a massive achievement, and everyone involved should be proud of their work. Thank you to the team, Troy, Dennis, Lloyd and Jeff who went to Cloudland on Monday. Thank you once again to the residence of Cloudland Apartments and to Michael for making this endeavour possible.

06.01.2022 Very happy to be supporting the great work of OzHarvest!

06.01.2022 Ready for the Aviation High School Open Day! Rotary is donating school supplies to Zephyr Foundation to the value of funds raised in the paper plane landing competition!

06.01.2022 Another fortnight means another trip to see our friends at Cloudland Apartments. Today we filled two vehicles to the top. In one of the pictures, you can see president Lloyd showing off how much room his ute has. The containers we receive from Cloudland Apartments are recycled for charity as apart of our Containers 4 Charity program. Thank you to the team Lloyd, Jeff, Troy and Lachy for collecting the containers.

05.01.2022 Last Tuesday was a great day for our Club when we presented a Pride of Work Award. The recipient was Lauren Smith, who works at Menzies Aviation. John Lee presented the award to Lauren, and the nomination was made by Lloyd Thomson. The words of his nomination follow: Lauren joined Menzies Aviation as a young 17 year old in a role as Customer Service Operator. She quickly advanced though various roles in Customer Service displaying maturity and dedication far beyond her age. S...he then moved into the administration department responsible for payroll and other various admin functions. Lauren has grown with the company from its small workforce to now employing in excess of 350 employees in Brisbane. Lauren has accepted and shone with any challenges and workload thrown at her and displays cool-headed calmness in all pressure situations. Lauren has now reached her 10 years with Menzies Aviation. I believe Lauren is a suitable candidate to receive a Pride of Work award. Lauren thanked us for the award, and spoke enthusiastically of her work at Menzies. Truly a worthy recipient!

05.01.2022 Another fortnight, another collection of containers. Thank you so much to all our friends at Cloudland Apartments once more for continuing their support of our Containers 4 Charity (C4C) project. C4C is an initiative where we collect eligible recyclable containers, and pass the proceeds on to the community. We'd also like to thank our members for getting on board this initiative. Special thanks to the team who made this pick-up possible, Jeff, Troy, Denis and Lachy. If you'd like to know more about C4C or our club, feel free to send us a message here on Facebook.

04.01.2022 Our club is hosting a BBQ. Come support the team at Bunnings Warehouse Australia. Thank you to everyone who has already supported us.

03.01.2022 We were pleased to hear from Kate Wilson from Cinc Social Media. Kate is a Social Media coach and consultant, specialising in online communication. Cinc Social Media is a social media coaching and consulting business, coaching small businesses in sustainable social media techniques and helping start-ups develop an online presence. Kate informed us about the pleasures, and the perils, of social media and talked about Cambridge Analytica (which has been in the news as of late) and how sophisticated digital statistical techniques are used to predict human behaviour. President Angela thanked Kate on behalf of the Rotary Club of Brisbane Airport for her interesting presentation!
