While coronavirus has meant we won't be able to hold a physical event, this year's virtual event means you and your family can turn on your own tree while watching our civic tree light up live via the Brisbane City Facebook page. #merrybrismas
21.01.2022 Today the Clarke family should have been celebrating Hannahs 32nd birthday. Instead, it was a bittersweet occasion, with the unveiling of Hannahs Place - a place not only for Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey, but for all victims of domestic and family violence. To the many victims and families of those who have experienced domestic violence, I hope this small tribute helps bring you and your loved ones peace, happiness and courage. We came together as a community for Hannah and her children and together we will help halt domestic violence in our community.

20.01.2022 One week ago, Brisbane was once again touched by tragedy with the sudden passing of Matt Conwell, who now leaves behind his beloved wife and their unborn triple...ts. The loss of a loved one can have tremendous and lasting impacts but Brisbane has come together before, and we will come together again with love and support for Ashleigh and her little trio. If you would like to show your support, please click on the below Go Fund Me link. Your contribution, however small, can help provide a brighter future for Ashleigh and her unborn children. https://www.gofundme.com/f/ashleigh-amp-her-beautiful-babie

20.01.2022 LET’S GET MOVING QLD needs jobs and a 2032 SEQ Olympics would create a job bonanza, fast-track infrastructure, and deliver vital roads and transport upgrades. Post-COVID, our battle-worn state needs the economic stimulus that a decade-long run to the 2032 Games would guarantee Queensland. ... The Council of Mayor’s SEQ has been pushing for the Bid since 2015. If we don’t get on with it now, this once in a lifetime opportunity will slip through our fingers. Read about it in today’s Courier Mail. https://www.couriermail.com.au//2bef0b642094dfdd706da277b1

The construction of these projects was awarded to an Australian company through Councils Local Buy policy, which will see up to 33 local suppliers contracted to construct the pontoons and gangways, helping to secure local jobs and much-needed boost for our economy https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au//two-brisbane-ferry-termi

04.01.2022 Brisbane is Australias River City - its one of the things that makes our city such a great place to live but its also why the local creek catchment groups play such an important role. Today I met with representatives from each of Brisbanes creek catchment groups who, in the past year, volunteered 30,000 hours to work on 95 restoration sites across the city. This is a remarkable contribution and one that is invaluable to the future of our city

03.01.2022 Swooping season has begun and today I unveiled a list of swooping hotspots, with more than 900 complaints made to Council so far this year. While getting swooped can be frightening, the birds are just doing what any parent would - trying to protect their young - and there are simple precautions you can take to avoid becoming the target of avian warfare: Travel in a group. Most birds only swoop individuals.... Do not panic and run, as this only encourages a swooping bird to continue its attack. Wear a hat or hold a stick or umbrella over your head to keep a swooping bird at a safe distance. Cyclists should dismount and walk away from the swooping zone. Avoid the swoop area during breeding season. See more
