23.01.2022 Australia is getting a 30-story apartment building that's covered in 1,000 trees and 20,000 native plants! It'll be the world's greenest residential building wi...th 392 homes, a two-level rooftop garden AND a public park! The building's green facade helps keep temps cool in the city and offers an oasis for plants, insects and birds in urban areas where natural space is limited. @koichitakadaarchitects is using recycled and locally sourced materials to construct the urban forest building, scheduled to be complete in Brisbane in 2024. Let's bring nature back into cities! @koichitakadaarchitects via IG

21.01.2022 JABUTICABA Brazilian grapetree, jabuticaba, is a tree in the family Myrtaceae. Common in Brazilian markets, jabuticabas are largely eaten fresh; their popularit...y has been likened to that of grapes. Fresh fruit may begin to ferment 3 to 4 days after harvest, so they are often used to make jams, tarts, strong wines, and liqueurs. Due to the short shelf-life, fresh jabuticaba fruit is rare in markets outside areas of cultivation. See more

16.01.2022 Striking image of a recently burned tree, exposing its vascular tissue, the xylem and phloem. A tree’s vascular system carries water and minerals from the root...s up to the leaves, and photosynthesized food back down to the rest of the tree. Interesting fact: Trees have no muscles (or nervous system) so all of this movement is powered by turgor pressure, which is controlled by stomata in the leaves that open and close as needed. 03.01.2022 THE GIANT HAND OF VYRNWY Sculptor Simon O ' Rourke Height: 15,25 meters The tallest tree in Wales had been damaged by a storm and was supposed to be cut down, b...ut a better solution was found. Natural Resource Wales, which was in charge of the site, ordered artist O ' Rourke to cut down the tree. Thought of a giant hand, which symbolizes the giants, and the tree's last attempt to reach the sky. Needed to add two pieces: for thumb and pinky as the tree wasn't large enough to form all hand. Once completed, the sculpture was coated with tung oil, a natural vegetable oil safe for the closeness of the riverways. See more
