24.01.2022 Self-Care Check-in || How full or empty is your jar? And by jar, I mean YOU..... ... It’s so important to regularly review how we are going. And all to easy to survive in auto-pilot mode, juggling multiple demands, taking care of others, and unintentionally neglecting our own needs. With a long (EKKA) weekend coming up for Brisbane, what better time to schedule in some time for yourself to review: how you are currently travelling (emotionally, psychologically, physically, and spiritually)? what does self-care mean to you? Everyone is different. Take this opportunity to write out a list of desirable ideas - like your very own SELF-CARE MENU - and cross them off as you try them. depending on where you sit in the introvert / extrovert scale, what you find restorative may be low-stimuli and isolative (think: meditation, art, bubble bath with candles, walking through a forest) or may be stimulating and involve some of your favourite people (think: girls night with face masks & herbal tea, romantic weekend away, time playing with pets, going surfing with mates) what activities can you engage in that are nourishing, relaxing, fun, or energising for you? 21.01.2022 In comparison to baseline and the wait-list control group, the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) group had significantly improved levels of all outcome measures including anxiety, depression, perceived stress, perseverative thinking, experiential avoidance, cognitive fusion, valued living, and generalized pliance that persisted at the 1- and 3-month follow-ups. Fully 91% of the patients receiving ACT had clinically significant changes in their Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) or depression compared to 9% of the wait-list controls. 01.01.2022 The effect of ACT on sleep quality systematic review to April 2020, from the Sleep Disorders Research Center, Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, Kermanshah, Iran. Abstract ACT can affect sleep quality by providing techniques to enhance the flexibility of patients’ thoughts, yet maintaining mindfulness. Therefore, for the first time, a systematic review on the effects of ACT on sleep quality has been conducted. 19 intervention studies were included, a sample of 1577 ...people had been assessed for insomnia and sleep quality. Conclusion The results of this study indicate that ACT has a significant effect on primary and comorbid insomnia and sleep quality, and therefore, it can be used as an appropriate treatment method to control and improve insomnia.
