25.01.2022 SECONDARY PRAC TEACHERS PART 2 Developing the next generation of teachers. We have been very happy to have these prac teachers at BAC, thank you for challenging the students to think further, work harder and dream bigger. Isabelle Jones... Hi, Im Isabelle (Issy) Jones and Im currently on my final year placement here at BAC! My teaching areas are: PDHPE specialisation with a Geography Minor. Its a really funny feeling when you graduated from this school as a student and come back as a teacher. Im really enjoying working alongside with the teachers who taught me! Its a good feeling when youre having a great experience and realising that this is the right profession for me. I have students literally come up to me everyday asking me if thats me on the photo banner in the office and having to say that that was taken over 10 years ago and then them replying with well you havent really changed much since then. I still blend in with the students apparently according to some teachers. And I also want to say: How its great to see how much of a positive change BAC has gone through since I finished in 2015. It really goes to show that BAC is onto and is doing something great! Brandon Roper Being able to give back to BAC over my prac teaching has been an amazing and enriching experience in my learning and in furthering my future career. Getting to know each of my students in my classes at both an educational and personal level has been easily the highlight of my time back at BAC. Another contributor to my amazing experience at BAC has also been the staff and colleagues that have made us feel incredibly welcomed in the school community. Ashlee Evans As a pre-service business teacher it is my aim to scaffold enterprising behaviours and abilities that are transferable into life, work and business opportunities. This term in year 10 Economics and Business, we have been exploring product development and marketing strategies in preparation for the students' very own product launch. I am blessed to have completed my last practicum at BAC and I am excited to see my students reach their learning goals.

25.01.2022 We recently had our Year Six celebration night. We had to make significant changes due to Covid and Sizzler closing down, but we didn’t let that spoil our plans. The night began with our annual photobooth, which is always fun. We had caterers bring in delicious food, we set up our own restaurant on the mezzanine and our staff served the students. Parents were able to join us and watch the students reminisce about their primary years and remember how little they were as they started Prep and made their way through the grades. Congratulations Year Six, we wish you all the best as you prepare for your secondary education. Well done Class of 2026!

25.01.2022 Yr11 Visual Art students braved soaring temperatures in Toowoomba this week on their Yr12 stimulus experience. Exploring a variety of ‘scapes’ the experience included a workshop with a professional artist, a street art tour, a gallery visit, lots of deep and creative thinking, en plain air work and ephemeral creations in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. All the student’s 2021 internal assessments for Vis Art will explore their individualised inquiry questions created in response to this stimulus experience. We can’t wait to see what you create Yr11!! #bacarts

25.01.2022 Year 6 spent the day at Secondary experiencing a taste of what Year 7 has to offer. CLASS OF 2026 - me@BAC

21.01.2022 Together with our Chaplains and bus driver Mr Murray, some of our Year 12 Graduates embarked on a STORMco mission trip to Bundaberg as an alternative to Schoolies. The acronym stands for Service To Others Really Matters, so their mission was to spread love and light to the town. A particular focus was our sister school, Hope Adventist College, where they really enjoyed presenting fun and meaningful morning chapel programs on the theme Lost & Found, and also playing game...s with the primary students. Another project consisted of wrapped individual gift bags with hand-written appreciation notes to the service men and women of Bundaberg, such as paramedics, firemen, and police. The recent alumni also spent some time with the older folk impacted by the isolation of COVID and shared in games, BBQ lunch and some Christmas Carolling together. Well done team!

17.01.2022 There was great excitement in the air yesterday as The Cubby was officially opened in the Prep and Year One playground. This was built by our Year Eleven and Twelve students in their Industrial Technology class. It was hard to tell who was more excited the secondary or the primary students! The class were reminiscing about the Preps grand designs at the start of the project and how excited they were to watch the building project come along outside their classroom. Our Pre...ppies then thanked the students and staff involved and finally Mr Quick declared The Cubby open! The project would not be possible without our incredible sponsors, we appreciate your support. - Bunnings Mt Gravatt - Hyne Timber - Kingspan water tanks. - Tuff block system - Injune Cypres #tuffblock #bunningsmtgravatt #hynetimber #injunecypress #Kingspan #communitypartners #friendsofBAC #BACbyDesign Music: Live the Moment from Videoleap.

17.01.2022 HAPPY NAIDOC WEEK! We value our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures, and aspire to model reconciliation and social justice. In this video, Mrs Entermann, Luana and Shakana recite the BAC Acknowledgement of Country: https://vimeo.com/426137628

16.01.2022 Well, our Secondary athletics carnival was a resounding success. Thank you to everyone who organised the day and to all the students who participated to make it such a memorable occasion.

16.01.2022 Year 12 Cairns Trip - Day 3 The Falls Circuit Firstly, Mareeba for handmade chocolates and morning tea. Then off to Millaa Millaa Falls for lunch and then some Year 12s braved the rain to swim in the cold water hole while others stood in awe at the beauty of the falls.

16.01.2022 Today our Secondary Chapel focused on RUOK? Day. Our chaplains organised a panel consisting of two trained counsellors Ms Stef De Campo and Mrs Carina Martin together with a student representative. The conversation focused on proactive strategies to initiate meaningful conversations in support of those who may be struggling around them. It was a valuable and insightful session highlighting listening skills and the importance of checking in with each other in these times.

16.01.2022 Our Primary GO Week has been a blast so far. Each day our set design has changed to reveal the theme of the day. So far, we have learned from Pastor Ray Moaga about approaching God in PRAYER, PRAISING him through all circumstances, using Gods Word the Bible to PROTECT our hearts and minds, and what it takes to become a PEACEMAKER with those around us. These topics reflect our theme of the year; Ready, Set, Go.

16.01.2022 Some more photos from 'The Cubby' opening on Monday. The students have loved the new addition to their playground.

15.01.2022 What a day! Lots of fun, competition and house rivalry on oval 3. The students had an amazing day, with staff and students making up for parents and family not being there due to COVID by cheering extra loudly. We were lucky enough to have two photographers: in-house photographer Mr Matthews and Charmaine Patel from the Conference Office. Thank you, both, for your efforts in providing great photos for BAC families.

13.01.2022 Our senior Industrial Technology Skills students are in the finishing stages of their garden bench seats. They are assembling the chairs while developing detailed instructions that would accompany the chair if it was sold as a flat pack item commercially. This teaches our students to finish work to a high-quality standard and learn to communicate efficiently to a consumer.

13.01.2022 3v3 Basketball Finals Junior Students enjoyed a 3v3 tournament this semester, we want to thank all who contributed to this tournament including our referees, coaches and parents for their support. We also take this opportunity to congratulate our winning teams, the Heat in the boys division and the Wings in the girls division. A special mention to some of our graduating students for their contribution to our basketball program! Thanks Emma, Jemma, Kayla, James and Noah (Absent).

13.01.2022 It's a beautiful day for our Lower Athletics Carnival today. We've run the 50m and 100m races with lots of excitement and cheering from students and staff. We're missing our parents and can't wait to have you back next year!

13.01.2022 Peace on earth and in our hearts. At the end of a crazy year, which has been filled with lots of challenges, we are all craving peace. With the cancellation of the BAC Christmas Carols this year, we have gifted each BAC family an ornament to add to your collection. Find your ornament in the report pack of the youngest student in each family. Mrs Leanne Entermann wishes each of our BAC families over the holiday break and alwaysthe gift of faith, the blessing of hope and the peace of God’s love.

12.01.2022 Meet Sam. He is a new student to BAC this year and is very passionate about playing chess. He has shown lots of initiative and is hoping to get a Chess Club happening. At his previous school, his team played all the way through to state level, so he knows all about the challenges and strategies of the game. He would like to share his knowledge and skills with fellow students and eventually work towards getting an official BAC Chess Club started. Did you know that chess can h...elp students to think rationally, improve patience, recognise patterns and improve communication skills? Sam spoke to all the Year Four - Six students and on Thursday he hosted an introductory session in our Primary LRC to gauge interest. There will be signup sheets for those that wish to participate, and then matches will take place on Thursday lunchtimes in our LRC. Sam is offering prizes at the end of Terms Three and Four, and he is using his own pocket money to fund this - he is that dedicated to chess! If you would like to help him achieve this goal, and you have a chess board in good condition (with all the pieces) that you no longer require, we would love to use them. These can be left at the Primary Office. We wish Sam and the students all the best as they start an exciting new initiative at BAC Primary.

11.01.2022 Developing the next generation of teachers. It brings a lot of satisfaction to see our BAC graduates head into successful and rewarding careers. It is even more special when they choose to follow our footsteps and become teachers! We are very pleased that Cadence Scotter (class of 2015) has chosen to spend her final pre-service teacher practicum at BAC. She is currently teaching a combination of science and art classes. Miss Scotter's classes are really enjoying the energy... and enthusiasm she brings to her teaching. 4th year (Casey) and 3rd year (Calum) prac teachers, are enjoying their time in Encounter and HPE. Casey Quan - BAC has been an uplifting placement thus far, I have been supported, encouraged and have developed the confidence to continue teaching ministry. Callum Entermann (class of 2015) Its a surreal experience to be back here in my old school teaching students and subjects I know and love. Its great to see BAC growing from strength to strength. We look forward to seeing many of our current students also returning as trainee teachers. :)

11.01.2022 And the Upper Primary carnival is underway! It's a perfect day for it. Parents, please keep in mind that not all races are published as some of our students don't have media permissions. We will provide some more updates throughout the day and evening.

09.01.2022 A huge thank you to our graduates for their eagerness to serve the community up north for their schoolies STORMco trip to Bundaberg. It looks like they really enjoyed themselves! Thank you for representing us so well there. We are proud of you!

09.01.2022 Year 11 Biology students enjoying their ‘Experience Ecology Day’ at the University of Queensland, learning from the legendary Dr Guriong Ang. As part of their studies in Biology, Year 11 students observed different habitats and gathered data on areas from different ecosystems. This field trip also helped students gather data to complete assessment tasks and to meet the criteria for the Biology syllabus.

08.01.2022 And that's a wrap! Lower Athletics carnival is finished and all students should sleep well tonight. They've had a very busy day. Onto Upper Athletics tomorrow.

08.01.2022 Some more high flying shots of the day!

05.01.2022 In recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day, our Indigenous Student Mentors, Luana and Shakana, visited each of the P-2 classrooms and read a picture book to the students. Prep students heard the story of 'Budburra's Garden', and they were given an 'Eating the Rainbow' picture to colour in. Year 1 drew pictures about 'Why I Love Australia' after listening to their story, and the student mentors read 'You and Me, Murrawee' to Year 2 classes. This bo...ok is about a little girl playing at the river and wondering about the Aboriginal children who would have played in the same spot 200 years ago. The students were given the task of drawing themselves playing or learning at school and then drawing what Aboriginal children may have played or learned in those same spots 200 years ago. The student mentors were welcomed warmly by each of the classes and they loved being with the primary students. We look forward to more collaboration like this in future events.

05.01.2022 JUNIOR GIRLS TOUCH SEASON Its been a season of growth, development and lessons for our Junior Girls Touch Team. TOGETHER they have experienced new skills, new plays, failures, frustrations and losses. However, TOGETHER they have also learnt to trust each other, have a growth mindset, learning through their losses, celebrated their hard work, knowing their roles, taking responsibility for their game, building friendships and getting better in every week. TOGETHER they are building a foundation of Trust, Integrity, Pride and Team. Well done ladies for a great season and will be looking forward to what next year will bring. #STRONGERTOGETHER

05.01.2022 As we head into the weekend, please enjoy a sample of worship songs that 4M presented in Chapel yesterday. On our Primary campus, Mr Quick opened Term 3 at Assembly by reminding students to #choosekind. He challenged us to learn a song called The Blessing. For class worships this term, Year 4M have been talking about ways that we have been blessed, and also how we can be a blessing to others. They were excited to present this song in our Primary Chapel this week.

04.01.2022 MAJOR NEW ARTWORK FOR BRISBANE ADVENTIST COLLEGE It’s only when you stand quite close to the massive navy, yellow, and powder blue mural on the Secondary campus that you begin to appreciate how many hands, hearts and minds have been involved in the creating of it. Over 100 staff members and 278 Secondary students contributed by painting their favourite BAC value within the outline of 16 giant letters making up the words STRONGER TOGETHER. Containing layers of meaning, the pro...ject was a collaborative effort for the Year 12 Visual Art class under the direction of their teacher Miss Rowe. It came into being after the class took up Mrs Entermann’s challenge to create a legacy piece that would have meaning for the entire BAC community. It needed to: 1. Be a sophisticated concept that summed up the College response to the events of 2020 2. Create an opportunity for community catharsis and healing 3. Teach students the principles of senior Visual Arts, Unit 4 To come up with the final design for the mural, the Year 12s took into consideration the modern, sleek design of the upcoming Secondary refurbishment and drew inspiration from the colour scheme of the College uniform. With guidance from the Year 12 Vis Art students, students and staff have painted their word within the letters over the course of Term 3. The work expresses and celebrates the unity and diversity of Brisbane Adventist College. Even so, the body is not made up of one part but of many (1 Corinthians 12:14). Click the link below to see the mural take shape. #StrongerTogether #BACArts
