15.01.2022 Take 4: Some good news - we have secured the first weekend of October at Brisbane showgrounds and there seems to be no community transmission despite the irresponsible actions of those idiots and similar behaviour from another 3 guys, so there is still hope the Brisbane BBQ Festival will go ahead in 2020. However the frustrating situation with the COVID Safe Venue Plan not yet being approved by QLD Health still persists. Our website is being updated and I will email all regis...tered teams, vendors, judges, volunteers, etc...as soon as this is up to date. I will also be launching the Facebook event once this is done with a waiting list for when tickets go on sale. I will reopen team and vendor registrations once the COVID Safe Venue Plan is approved and I am certain we can go ahead. Thanks again for your patience. P.S. 10.01.2022 As you are aware, we tried to reschedule the Brisbane BBQ Festival a few times already, but these are uncertain times, and after taking everything into consideration, we have finally bitten the bullet and made the reluctant decision to postpone the event to 2021. We know a lot of vendors, performers, suppliers, support staff and patrons are really keen to see events back on but we cannot ensure the financial viability of the event without sufficient lead time to market it pro...perly and allow people to plan for it, especially given how quickly things could change with this bloody pandemic. While we are very disappointed that we have had to postpone, we are still trying to get a couple of smaller BBQ events happening later on this year. In the meantime we will be hitting the road slinging Q to the public as soon as our smoker is completed so do let us know if you come across any locations that might work. 01.01.2022 As per our social media and website updates Brisbane BBQ Festivall which was meant to be on this weekend, has been moved to August 29th & 30th at Brisbane Showgrounds this year but obviously the dates will depend on government restrictions being lifted. I know that once spectators are allowed into stadiums, festivals can definitely go ahead so I'm really happy with the NRL leading the way pushing for restrictions to be lifted. Either way if there isn't a huge spike in cases b...y next weekend, which is 2 weeks after the BLM protests, the government surely cannot justify social distancing any more and will have to lift restrictions. If there is a spike in cases we will probably have to postpone the event to later on in the year but I will not cancel unless I have absolutely no choice.
